1. Yes to Cottage-cheese, no to War! Where did you find this
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.31.12)
particular prophet, Ynet?!
2. So you would have Iran get the bomb and nuke us??!!!
Adam ,   Tel Aviv   (05.31.12)
An Iranian bomb means the end of Israel. Even if they don't use it directly, it could always fall into the hands of Hezbollah or Hamas, which means any future conflict with these sides they would be able to hold the state to ransom and demand ceasefires and conditions backed up by threats to use the bomb, Israeli would lose it's ability of deterance.n I would rather a war where a few thousand people get killed then a bomb which kills everyone. As a proud Israeli I am ready to be one of those few thousand so that the rest of the country can live opn in peace, I wonder if the author would be prepared to risk his life for his coiuntry? As a left wing Israel and Jew hater I think not.
3. amnon starts off ok, then becomes olmert
milson   (05.31.12)
amnon had worthy comments to say about barak, an overrated general who has been wrong and error prone in all things he has done since 1999. You know the list, the latest one being paintball guns and rappelling on the marmora and oddly the turks did not indict him along with the other israelis. Barak boasts constantly and was wrong about assad weeks ago as I pointed out in a talkback. Now he wants another unilateral oh my god olmert demograhics hysterian so rockets should slam tel aviv and the airport. What can one say except bibi is a simpleton. Now as for iran, would you kill hitler or wait? That is essentially the issue and amnon becomes olmert who runs into the closet and says no to war.israel has to fight for its existence and that is the way it is. But it won't attack iran without yaalon and lieberman convincing bibi. Barak is physically paralysed in such a decision and bibi is chronically hesitant. Yaalon is 3 x the officer barak yet bibi does not put yaalon into defence. israel is going down the drain so long as barak is at defence.
4. No comparison btwn Syria and Iran situations
Ron from NJ ,   Newark USA   (05.31.12)
Amnon Shamosh is a highly regarded recipient of Pras Yisrael who was born in Syria and is therefore well aware of the complexities of the situation there. I do think he gives Assad too much credit by assuming that Assad remains in power because he fears for his Alawaite cousins -- like all despots, he cares about only himself, but the Russians & Persians have convinced him he can hold out. Regarding Iran, there is no comparison with Syria. As the Flame virus shows, Israel has thoroughly infiltrated Iran and knows everything going on there. The Persians are quaking in their boots.
5. Do not worry
Beary White ,   Norway   (05.31.12)
When the islamic spring is finished, the the islamic killings will continue into the islamic summer with more killings, then autumn killings and the islamic nations will self-implode in the islamic winter...because US dropped the first bomb with a B-1 onto Iran to start the islamic winter. Obvious the peaceful islamic followers are proven to be the best at killings and violence...LOL
6. Well
Matt   (05.31.12)
The diplomatic action they were told to take at the beginning would have got us to this point an the Annan plan. Over 12 months ago, so another 12 months to go.
7. You err !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.31.12)
Assad will fall, and a War with Iran will come, because Iran want that War. Arn.Sweden.
8. Tell these to the usual Armchair Generals here on Ynet
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (05.31.12)
"An “Iran strike” is not just another strike in Gaza or in Syria. We should call this monster by name. This would not be a strike, but rather, the initiation of war against a well-armed, dangerous regional power, even without nuclear weapons. " I'm so sure people like Noodles or Sarah B and her lover Chris Rottenloser won't like reading any of these!!!
9. completely wrong.
Aipac ,   USA   (05.31.12)
One should never underestiamte its foe, but overestimated its capability and caving in to its blackmail is either false. Iran is military speaking not stronger than Iraq befor ethe 1991 gulf war and In less than two weeks the US broke the Iraqi forces. The only plus Iran has by reagrd of Saddam is its terror networks. But this mere a nuisance than a real threat. In addition, in a time of economical crisis a good war is needed like a piece of bread. The great depression of the 30's ended when WWII begin. Therefore war against iran is needed before these irrational murderous regime gets its hands on nukes. Therefore cutting their syrian hand is a first step in the rigth direction. The demise of teh alawite regime will instill fear amongst the Shiite minority of Lebanon.
10. Starting a war with Iran
H Birnbaum ,   Jerusalem, Israel.   (05.31.12)
Words of wisdom from Amnon Shamosh. Attacking Iran = suicide. Amnon, please continue to voice your opinion, but louder.
11. Peter # 8
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (05.31.12)
Yes, Iran without nulclear weapons is still very dangerous. Those plastic keys to paradise could be used to poke somebodies eye out. Thanks for the heads up Peter. As to your comment on some people not liking to read your posts.....what is there to like?
12. Nr 8.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.31.12)
Are you afraid to be affected by the War to come, that your hiding in Vienna wont do ? Then you are absolutely right, Austria will as Cause of affect, go to War and loose, and in the longer run, dissappear. Iran want this War for Religious Causes and Reasons, and there is no possibility to stop it to comense. And as according to my oppinion, dont flee and come to Sweden, we dont want people like you here. Bad by - Vienna-Austria. Arn-Sweden.
13. To Peter @ #8!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (05.31.12)
Since I've gained the rank of General (armchair or otherwise), I don't need the lame advice from an armchair private. If Israel finally decides to attack Iran, they'll we easily defeat them; I'll even go a step further and say they will be fighting on multiple fronts...and still will win. See, there's one thing that you godless heathens' forget: the God of Israel! With Him on your side--you can't loose!!! God bless, Israel!
14. A couple of points!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (05.31.12)
1: She's just as corrupt as he is; and, she likes her status and jewels too much. 2: There are no good guys in this freakin' tragedy--pick your poison: The mass-murderer Assad, or his 1st cousins' the Muslim Brotherhood? There you have it, the choice between to equal evils'! The only thing the Islamic (the religion of peace) plague...hordes' have brought to the world is hardship and death! The world needs to wake-up and come to the realization that it isn't just a bunch of "radicals"...it's Islam itself that is the problem: it must be wiped-out!!!
15. According to the author...
Ram ,   London   (05.31.12)
attacking Iran is equivalent to suicide. I fear the other option is to remain a "sitting duck" given all the threats repeatedly uttered. Israel is in a bit of dilemma. Should it consider the threats a bluff or follow the Bible's advice "if an enemy is out to smite you smite him first", or words to this effect.
16. Asma Assad is as criminal as her husband by supporting him!
Neo ,   EU   (05.31.12)
17. #8 Come comment on the "Angry Bird" thread...
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (05.31.12)
...I need a laugh
18. # 2
Stan ,   Israel   (06.01.12)
Adam, I am willing to go on record here and write what I've been saying for years. IRAN WILL NOT ATTACK ISRAEL WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS. They hate us and they taunt us, but they are rational, and know that a nuclear attack on Israel would bring even greater suffering on Iran. The same applies to their puppet Nasrallah.
19. # 9

Shiite majority, not minority
20. Most arabs support secularism over sectarianism in syria
christian arab ,   nyc   (06.01.12)
The Assad government will prevail, whether the saudis or israelis like it or not.

remember how the war dragged on between the North and South Vietnams in the 20th century thanks to the USSR?
22. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ANALYSES YET in Y-net
Rafi ,   US   (06.02.12)
The conclusion regarding both Iran & Syria is simple: PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION... not out of fear... but simply because of the complexity of these situations... If other nations are so inclined, let them intervene. Israel needs to keep its powder dry, build its economy - but still strengthen its defensive & offensive capability. But certainly no need to jump into the costly quagmire at this point!
