These " Conservatives jews-in-name-only " like to distort the Torah to suit their own views but the Torah ,which is after all the foundation of judaism and jewish values ,is clearly anti -homosexual and nothing can alter that fact.

These US conservative folk are making a joke out of marriage .It was Adam and Eve ,not Adam and Steve.

I am tired of this pandering to gays and strays.

The next step ,or logical continuation of this trend ,will be that men and woman heterosexual relationships and marriages will be deemed to be " perverse and unnatural " .....my oh my ,how things have changed.

Being jewish for these american folk is just about doing what feels good .A.K.A. Sex ,Drugs and Rock n' roll . Torah has no place in this scheme of things or has to be bent to shape in order to fit in with their "feel good " mentality/ viewpoint.

Why can't these gay folk just be content with co-habiting ( living together ) or just enjoying each others' company ? why do they need to be " married " like heterosexual folk ?

You can live your life as a jew ,or you can live a selfish and hedonistic lifestyle but you can not do both.

I truely believe ( as a secular Jew) that this will be fhe final deathknell for the liberal movements many more will now leave these movements either for more traditional synagogue movements or leave Judaism altogether not that they are homophobic but that they see this as an unhealthly lifetstyle to be promoted to their offspring. Already you can find huge white elephant Temple buildings empty on Friday and Shabbat mornings.They survive only because of their huge endowments they have almost ceased to be "living" entities.

Your figures re Conservatives being the second largest group may be true give a few thousand only members but most statistians now but them all neck to neck 1.2 million each Reform Conservative Orthodox separated only by a few thousands..The real difference however is that in the Orthodox communities 85% are active members where only 4% of Reform are and only 6% of Conservative are .The liberal branches do have large impressive buildings but they are basically empty white elephants and their movements survive only because of huge endowments but they are basically dead entities with little future so many have left for more traditional venues or assimilated.

what has this mess to do with our religion ?

a general message to all of you religious zealots (Jews, Christians and Islamic alike): stop blabbering in the name of God. It really sounds pathetic. And welcome to the 21st century. PS: my take is many of you who fear the gay are closeted gays who fear your own nature. You better assume your own nature, then, and leave your women to true heterosexuals like me.

We American Jews also have a saying that pork in a Chinese restaurant is kosher. I think that says a lot...God bless the feygelehs, their getting "married" has no effect on me or mine. Mostly harmless.

With a vote of 13-0 I wonder what took them so long. To those who believe in a literal interpretation of the Torah, remember, this is the Conservative movement, not the Southern Baptist Movement. If Orthodox Jews believed in a literal translation then cheeseburgers would be Kosher.

I was brought up assimilated reform; and later in Life, I moved "right" and joined the Conservative movement, truly believing that "Conservative" meant holding more dear, the tenets of our Bible. The rabbis of the USCJ have turned the sanctity of marriage into a hollow joke.
