4. economics would have turned Assad from zero to hero
zionist forever   (06.04.12)
In Syria the uprising like in Egypt didn't start because the people wanted democracy it was because of a growing young population and lack of jobs. Syria has a planned economy and it would have been very easy for Assad to create a Roosevelt style jobs program. Even if it was just a short term measure get the arab spring to fizzle out. If Assad had done that it could have been a gift from the president and the people would have loved him for it. Instead the idiot decided that he would kill people and naturally when you kill people they don't like you and want you gone. Abdullah needs to make alot of cutbacks and give lots of nice speeches, do a tour of the country and kiss some babies and ride out the arab spring. He can't survive a black September. Abdullah may even like to consider the idea of transforming the country into a constitutional monarchy. He gets to enjoy being king whilst an elected government has to do all the dirty work, its a sure way to stay safe no matter what the political situation and his continued behind the scene presence may help keep stability.
5. Just a matter of time...
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.04.12)
...before this pathetic, little king falls! But, a greater evil will replace it: the Muslim Brotherhood. Either way, Israel will, eventually, take Jordan militarily. The fake Palestinians will never have a state(Oh, well...tough break)--period!
6. Hyped and inacurate
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (06.04.12)
1- There in no proof tha palis are the majority in Jordan, the only source claiming this was the unreliable Isralei media. 2- Most palies are secular and pro regime, htey are no threat to it.
7. crossroads
Yosef ,   USA   (06.04.12)
It is Israel, our Jewish state that is at crossroads - truly the last chance to get the house in order, stop Sin'at chinam and political games for us to survive as a nation.

vast majority of the mandate of Palestine. The loyal Bedouin are vastly outnumbered.King Hussein saw it coming and bought a nice mansion or 3 in England. There were numerous attempts on King Husseins life, not to mention the takeover attempt by his Syrian brothers. King Hussein referred to Arafat saying there is not a bridge he has not double crossed. So much for the protestations of brotherly love. Nothing has changed in the ME for millennia, other than Islam being added to the cauldron of conflicts.
9. If Abdullah11,goes then be sure Saudi Arabia would b next

10. Strange article
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.04.12)
Rather than report reality, the article is inventing a reality that does not exist. The "Arab spring" failed in Bahrain due to the barbarity of the Saudi forces that made Assad look like a boy scout. In Saudi Arabia, there is constant unreported conflict between Shi'ite freedom fighters and the brutal Saudi police forces. Jordan is Iran's next target for destabilization so a popular uprising is highly likely, especially if Obama intervenes in Syria. Will the popular uprising get rid of Hussein? No, because just like in Bahrain, Obama supports the regime. The 12000 American and Arab troops stationed in Jordan "for training" will violently quash any rebellion if needs be.
11. Will Jordan split in Three ?.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (06.04.12)
Dan.11. 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape out of his hand: even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. Comment - The Shia-Islamic Ruler of Irak, seems to accept the Ruler of Jordan and let Jordan live in Peace. Arn.Sweden.
12. One by one the US puppets fall ...
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (06.04.12)
As the US declines in power by the day, each of its puppets will fall from power to be replaced by leaders responsible to the people instead of to the US and Israel. There is absolutely NOTHING the US and/or Israel can do about this except dread the future. While the king of Jordan will try to keep the situation contained for as long as possible, in hte end he will have to flee with his family. As the governments in the ME fall to leaders that are responsive to the people of the country, Israel will have to make a simple choice - learn to live in the neighborhood by the neighbor's rules or get driven out. Israel will NOT be able to control the situation, even by force since every one in the world now has access to weapons equal to or better than any Israel has. It is long past time for Israel to reach a fair negotiated settlement with the Arabs.
13. spy-guy? The Hashemite kingdom was NOT put there by the US
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (06.04.12)
Nor was Naguib,Nasser,Gaddaffi,Arafat Haniyeh ,Nasrallah, etc etc. Arab rulers do it their way. Maybe you think Assad is a Western puppet and thats why he is being protected by Russia and China? Or do you see Al Bashir as a Western puppet ? If you think the Mullahs ,the Islamists or the Brotherhood care about their people, you have had your mind shut for the last 30 years. The Brotherhood has made clear what they want,Sharia rule! Israel needs to make peace? Which part of no peace ever or PA maps of Palestine including all Israel and denial of any Jewish connection to Israel can't you understand? How do you like the Persian peace plan? Great to see you cheering for haters of democracy while not moving to the putative paradise you claim is on the way. Why is that?
14. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.04.12)
The Israelis have wanted nothing more than to reach a negotiated settlement with the Arabs. However, in light of the fact that the Arabs have started six wars (all won by Israel) and engaged in seven decades of unrelenting terror against Jews both in Israel and in the Diaspora, it's pretty well evident that it is the Arabs who are the intransigent factor. Were I to suggest that Americans live under neighbor Canada's rules, would that sit well with you? Hardly. Israel is a nuclear power -- our "neighbors" need to find a way to learn to live under OUR rules, or we will eliminate them as constant threats. Do you understand? No one is going to "drive" us out of our homes. Ever. And we have the ability and the resolve to ensure it. That, you can count on.
15. Expel the King - let Jordan revert to its pre1922 name
Tomer ,   Herzeliyya   (06.04.12)
When the midget king falls, the hashemite minority regime will be overthrown and Palestine can re-emerge. What will Abbas then call his entity in Judea and Shomron?
16. #6 Rami - You took a survey ?

Assad a Puppet, Saddam Hussein, Khadaffi, they are just some that fell who weren't or aren't puppets Clean your spyglasses
18. fake, failed state: Jordan=Palestine!
nadav ,   tlv   (06.04.12)
Jordan's "monarchy" was placed by British imperlialists, who carved out the made-up country "Jordan" from the then British Mandate of Palestine. The lands east of the Jordan were supposed to be for the Muslim Arabs, whilst West of the Jordan was land that ancestrally belonged to the Jews and recognized as such by the League of Nations. Jordan, like the other Arab (and Africa states for that matter) is a fake, failed authoritarian state that has no popular mandate from its people- as it is NOT a democracy. It too will collapse, leading to a republican- and hopefully democractic government, which will forge a lasting peace with Israel once it divides the West Bank ("Area A" & part of "B") with Israel! that is a lasting peace based on justice and history!
19. Abdullah lives in constant fear
BEN JABO (M,ACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (06.05.12)
that he will wind up as Abdullah the First did, assassinated while at prayer King Hussein had an official food taster since he was afraid to eat before the food was tested King Hussein had a severe sinus problem, they tried to poison his nose drops Hussein's airplane was always gassed and ready to make a fast escape
