idit ,   pasadena   (06.06.12)
2. Who gives a damn what this guy thinks?!
(06.06.12)
Just go back to stats people: Hundreds of thousands of Israelis are living in the US. Does this sound cheerful?! We should attend to this serious issues instead of covering up through publishing such silly stories..
3. Lived here, experienced it, matured... and I've HAD IT WITH
Aliyah ,   no thanks   (06.06.12)
ISRAEL I'm moving back to the US where you get what you voted for and there is a REAL democracy. I've had it with lying two faced greedy politicians, and people throwing their garbage in the streets, and people pissing in every alleyway. I'm tired of so much hatred for fellow Jews and back stabbing from people who only care about "their kind". And people using everybody else and crawling over each other to get ahead. And people shoving their way to the head of the line, and people screaming ME ME ME. I'm going back to peace and quiet where people respect each other.
4. good to see opinions like this one
Gabor ,   Budapest, Hungary   (06.06.12)
I'm planning my aliya since a while now but just can't decide if I really want to do it. I make a good living in Hungary, I have friends here and a pretty easy life. I am so happy to read an opinion like this one, it makes the "yes, go to Israel" voice louder in my head. And especially in my heart.
5. Israel has cycling too....
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (06.06.12)
and some of the most beautiful hiking trails, scenery, etc. Even better, you can go skiing in the Hermon, ride a camel in the desert and go snorkling in Efrat (all within an area less than the size of New Jersey). Welcome home!!!!
6. hmmm
sk ,   USA   (06.06.12)
If you lived in S. California you might have had a harder decision to make. The climate, Mediterranean weather, and flora (palm trees and all) is identical to that of Israel. A very large Jewish and ex patriate Israeli population might help too...I don't know; just thinking.
7. One question
Vlad   (06.06.12)
To want to live in the USA is perfectly understandable, but WHY THE HELL did you choose Missouri. From what I hear, they're the poorest state, have a higher infant mortality rate than freaking Sub-Saharan Africa, and the place is full of racist white trash rednecks.
8. I felt more at home in each of three four week vacations in
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.06.12)
Israel than I ever have in America and I was born here 67 years ago. I am in the process of making Aliyah and too want to come home to where I should be, not a life void of any problems, but where there is a sense of community that does not exist in the same way here.
9. Good article
DD ,   Israel   (06.06.12)
I was born and raised in the States and had a good life there, but the first time that I visited Israel, I immediately felt at home here. I made aliyah, married and raised a family here and there's no other place in the world where I'd rather live. Israel is special and it is ours.
10. Kol Hakavod! Welcome back home.
ben Avraham ,   tel Aviv   (06.06.12)
11. So what?
John   (06.06.12)
Whatever reason you, Yoav Dobrin, had to write this article, it makes no sense to the broad audience of readers. This is because the readers cannot infer any conclusions from your piece Mr. Dobrin. Brushing off ugly thoughts of a blunt low level propaganda, I dare to ponder that this article is all about your own piece of experience in your own piece of life. Not less, and not more then that, Mr. Dobrin.
12. My opinion on your opinion:
John   (06.06.12)
Dear Mr. Dobrin, people leave Israel not as a result of the economic burden, but rather they do it because of one-sided democracy in Israel. It's all about politics, my friend.
13. welcome home to religious coercion and misogyny
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (06.06.12)
Maybe you like that...
14. Home
gerardo ,   Montevideo, Uruguay   (06.06.12)
Israel is and will always be home. But home is in desperate need of improvements, as it's been taken over by right wing nuts and religious zealots, and now undergoes a wave of racism that is very discouraging to all of us who want to move back. Our zionist dream is being shattered to pieces.
15. Israelis living in the US
Naor ,   USA   (06.06.12)
My family comes much from the same background, Israelis who moved to the US many years ago. While many of your personal issues could have been solved by living in areas where there was more Israelis like South Florida or areas of California, the premise is correct. The US will never be home or the Jewish State. It will be quite a tragedy if our children would not be able to speak Hebrew or know Israel as nothing more than another distant country. I hope one day we will also find our way home, despite its many many flaws. Kol Hakavod ve behatzlacha!
16. MY late Dad left Israel in 1952,,his grandkids live there
Al   (06.06.12)
now. Go figure. Jews have been leaving and coming to Isreal forever. Point being there are over 5M Jews in Israel today and everyones a maven on something or other. We just love pissing on eachother and whining 24/7. Israel in spite of a lousy government will survive and grow and those Jews who end up leaving..well they leave...so what! You want people who want to be there..You dont need people who are there simply because they havent got a choice. Those who leave will leave and so be it. To the Dobrin family..I know that what you have decided is best for your family. I wish you well.
17. old story...
mark ,   ca   (06.06.12)
Story was printed on Ynet in Hebrew about week ago. This fellow never had Green Card.He was a temp on working visa and his boss failed to renew application for GC.

19. #7 You've confused states
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (06.06.12)
I believe you're thinking of Mississippi, rather than Missouri. Big difference.
20. 11 John This article strucks
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.06.12)
a chord to all Jewish souls.
21. is this written in English for whom?
Jonathan Wortman ,   Raanana   (06.06.12)
Do you realize that lack of friends, solitude, missing family, no one to talk politcs is exactly what Olim Chadashim (new immigrants to Israel) suffer? What you are telling potential immigrants is "stay where family and friends are". What bothers me afterwards is that when I really need ynetnews to inform in English of something important, they just leave the real local news only in Hebrew. The editor must be "very savvy" in what it means to be an immigrant.
22. I feel the exact opposite alienation
Aaron ,   Rehovot   (06.06.12)
I have to say I've been here for a year and a half and I haven't found this connection in Israel. I think it has more to do with where you come from and the amount of alienation you experience. I feel completely alienated here even with the large number of English speakers. Point being it happens everywhere
23. #2, The stats speak for themselves
Jake   (06.06.12)
3000 American Jews and 9000 expat Israelis leave the United States each year for Israel. and that number keeps a-growin' and growin'.
24. #6, meet #1
Jake   (06.06.12)
25. #7 vlad One Question
(06.06.12)
Where The Hell did you get your Disinformation from? Have you ever visited St Louis and form your own opinion? As Far as U.S. Cities go it's actually cosmopolitan with southern charm, nice people and good food. So vlad Before You Stick Your Foot In Your Again. Please sir do your homework. שלום
26. aliyah
E. G. Marsch ,   Nahariya, Israel   (06.06.12)
I made aliyah from the U.S. almost 30 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I love Israel. Learning Hebrew, experiencing the Jewish calendar, the beauty of the land, a fascinating and rich society. Yes, there is some distance from relatives in the U.S., but in the era of Skype and plane travel, it's not so bad.
27. home is where.....
fred lapides ,   Orange, USA   (06.07.12)
Clearly different folks feel differently. Why badmouth those who feel other than the way you feel? Live and let live so that one is at peace and home where he or she chooses to live.
28. A CALL TO PRIORITIZE
Seven ,   Returning to Israel   (06.06.12)
It all depends your attitude. If you are open minded, friendly and approachable, then people will connect with you. The litmus test is the following: if your kid went missing in a mall, would you want that mall to be one in Israel or outside of Israel? If you answer Israel, then you know, deep down inside, that you belong in Israel. Leave your material pursuits behind and embrace a true and genuine human experience that Israel can offer.
29. Oh boo hoo hoo, cry me a river
Mark ,   U S.   (06.06.12)
Are you gone already.
30. Not hundreds of thousands, #2
Vlad   (06.07.12)
The figure is slightly more than 100,000.
