Ynet, you should be ashamed of yourselves. The couple that was interviewed was quoted as saying that it was an innocent re-enactment. I don't see you posting articles about Civil War re-enactments in America. Stop trying to fan the flames of anti-semitism, there's plenty of it already!

The couple said it seemed to be an innocent question. They did not use the word 'reenactment'. I also think that there is quite a bit of difference between dressing up as Nazis and dressing up as Civil War soldiers. The two wars were different in many respects. One is recognized as a fight against fascism, the other is recognized as a war between brothers. And the point of banning Nazi uniforms, insignia, etc, is not "just" because of the Jews, but because of the British themselves, who were subject to a terrible bombardment by the Nazis, with the threat of invasion. It is a shame that the memory of many (but hopefully not all) people can be so short.

The UK suffered greatly at the hands of the Nazis - what would push them to wear these garments I will never comprehend. In the UK there were 700000 military casualties and 60000 civilian deaths in W2 - these so called 'British' have zero respect for their own history, so please don’t be astonished if they have no respect for yours. As a British citizen , I apologise... but the UK is a democracy.... Just like Israel has its self hating Israelis who make Israel look bad, so too it seems the British have their self hating citizens.

This news is invented ''news''. Dressing up in WW2 gear for reenactments is not uncommon. Funny hobby but harmless. Where I live people do this for a popular airshow where the main feature is restored WW2 fighter planes. Very bad taste to ask a Jewish couple to dress up as Jews for sure. But for non Jews , whose forebears experienced the war ,the war was not about Jews but about their own country's role. . Americans think WW2 was all about them. Brits think it was all about the Battle of Britain. . Russians hardly even acknowledge that other countries had much role at all. Jews think it was all about the Holocaust and so on.

Who is? Also judging from the posts here Israel has no gratitude for the British who lost their lives helping to save Jews from concentration camps.

Well said chaps. The problem is that most of the Israeli talkbackers view things from a narrow-minded and specifically Jewish perspective and fail completely to see the wider picture. They are also somewhat obsessed with hatred for anyone who points that out to them.

Of course Jews (and non-Jews) are grateful to the Brits for their stand against the Nazis, and to the allies for winning the war and liberating the camps. But Jews also remember Englands actions in the ME, sending survivors of those camps to detention in Cyprus (see post #6). These are mainly Americans. Who are generally too scared to actually join us here in Israel, or they just love Israel so much they only see one side of things and on an extreme level.

Israelis know English. And some Americans who post live in Israel, while some Israelis who post do not. It is called human nature. It is a different kind of human nature to assume the worst without facts to back it up.

there is an hebrew version of this site?! I live here, I socialize with Israelis, regardless if they know English or not they prefer to speak Hebrew, even when surrounded in English speakers, so why will they read this online paper? As for your comment on Americans in Israel.. well.... they are Americans in Israel, not Israelis, they may be Israelis legally but they are not native born and bred Israelis.

Maybe they want to interact with Americans. Remember that they may post on both Hebrew and English sites. No one said that Americans who hold Israeli citizenship (like myself) are born and bred Israelis (neither am I).

Just because Mike from Liverpool lives in Israel does not guarantee that he knows what he is talking about. And just because you say he does does not guarantee it either. Not that it matters, but I lived in Jerusalem. And a matter of curiousity: no one has ever accused me of having 'extreme opinions'. Me thinks thou doth protest too much.
