1. Wow 60 000 is more than entire Jewish population of SA
Alan ,   SA   (06.10.12)
Its good to know that if us SA Jews need to come in a hurry you got lots of space for us in S Tel Aviv and at the Bus Station! However, we would prefer something better in the T A Northern Suburbs,of course.
2. Egypt is now a democratic state. Why not send them back there
(06.10.12)

Israel.We are not ,   the U.S.   (06.10.12)
4. Rule of law
Sam   (06.10.12)
Enter illegally get deported
5. There are UN agencies tasked with caring for refugees
Tracy W   (06.10.12)
Israel should avail itself of either UNHCR or UNRWA to set up camps to care for genuine refugees. Has someone done the math? Africans have been suffering from famine or violence for centuries. There are MILLIONS who could genuinely claim refuge in Israel. It is not practically possible for such a tiny country - soon to become even smaller if it is partitioned to create an Arab state - to care for this massive influx of refugees. Please tell your authorities to ask those UN refugee agencies to do the job they have been assigned to do. They need to set up camps in Egypt and elsewhere to protect and care for African refugees now flocking to Israel. And politicians should stop using inflammatory language and get to work in relocating these refugees as soon as possible, while deporting those who come only seeking work.
6. Well, at least they are getting the message now ....
Uri ,   Siberia   (06.10.12)
Lets carry on with the persecution and they'll all leave by themselves at no cost to us! great news! ... plesae give them their passports back!
7. Israel it's not a garbage can!
Phoenix ,   Israel   (06.10.12)
Deport all this abusive invaders! Nobody wants them here!
8. You have nothing to protest! You are illegals!
Phoenix ,   Israel   (06.10.12)
This is not your country and nobody wants you here! What are you protesting. Go back to your countries and protest there. Here you have nothing! You do not belong here! And we do not want you here! LEAVE!
9. Not for nothing, but ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.10.12)
.... these "refugees" have crossed multiple borders. They deliberately set out for Israel. Some have come from as far away as the Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Ghana. A significant number are criminals, alcoholics and drug addicts. They are invaders, not refugees. Israel is a small country, with enough problems. These people are not Jews, and there is no reason for them to set their sights on Israel. Hand them over to the United Nations, which has very well funded agencies whose specific task it is to deal with refugees.
10. Israel is compassionate and realistic.
Bob K ,   Orlando USA   (06.10.12)
Like most Israelis I have great sympathy for the millions of Africans who want a better life in a Western country. For many of these Africans, Israel is the best bet because it is the only great place they can reach by land. There are genuine refugees from Sudan but they can now return. As for the Eritreans, they have a country. Somalis have a lawless non-state and Egypt should be their destination. Israel is too small to absorb Africa's would be emigrants, many of whom are Moslem and may come with anti-Jewish prejudices.
11. YNET busy selling us causes not supported by actual Israelis
Ron M. ,   South TA / Zion   (06.10.12)
YNET - Where's the monthly Peace Index Poll always featured here?? This one not so good for Yediot.. Because 83% of Israelis polled want the illegal migrants out. From what I can tell Israel is soon offering food, shelter, and soon also even 1000 euros and free passage home. But it's not enough, until we fall on the sword and make these illegal infiltrators citizens, and put them on the supreme court of Israel it will never be enough for our media cabal of suckers. Send them all to North Tel Aviv, no more in South TA where I live. Had enough. I am calling for immediate deportation.
12. and nown they dare to protest in the streets ! expell them !
(06.10.12)
13. Africa has 56 independent sovereign states...
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.10.12)
...and these 60.000 illegal African immigrants can't find a single safe place to move to on the entire African continent? Africa boasts with 30.221.532 square kilometers of land and a total population of approximately 1 billion, and yet these 60.000 illegal African immigrants need to move to tiny Israel with roughly 20.000 square kilometers of land and a population of 7.8 million people? So these 60.000 Africans had to go all the way to Israel to find a safe haven? They will not fool anyone. Send them back to Africa - alternatively send them to the Arab states or the EU. Israel is a tiny country. We can't absorb them and 20% of our population is already non Jewish. We don't want more non Jews in Israel. We want to preserve our tiny country as a Jewish state. I sympathize with your suffering but you cannot enjoy our hospitality at the expense of our demographics and if you can't or won't udnerstand and respect that we will treat you no different that terrorists and enemies hellbent on our destruction. If you try to use the UN to coerce Israel to give up it's sovereignty and independence you've made it clear that you've come for the money and you want to take over our country. You have to leave - all of you - no exceptions. We don't want more non Jews in Israel independently of their skin color, height or nationality. I would react the same to blonde and blue eyed Scandinavians or Asians. Israel is a JEWISH country and ANYONE trying to even to question that - anyone who even dares to think the thought of contemplating that - for racist and genocidal ideological reasons or supposedly "humanitarian" reasons become automatically our enemies. It seems you African illegals simply don't get it. Even if you didn't commit any crimes inside Israel you still committed a crime by entering our country without our explicit permission and threatening our demographics. Everyone of you - pack your bags and leave. You are not welcome here. Go back home and stop stealing our country from us. You have 56 countries on the African continent. We Jews have only one tiny country in our ancient homeland. You are so "concerned" with "human rights" that you have come to ignore completely our human, civil and national rights.
14. Double talk
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.10.12)
No,being a refugee isn't a matter of choice, but neither is the place of refuge.None of these refugees come from countries that have a border with Israel,so unless they have come directly by air or sea which s generally NOT the case, they have NO right of refuge in Israel. The accepted convention is that they have to seek refuge in the FIRST safe country of entry.Generally, these refugees have entered from Egypt and Israel is well within its rights to return them to Egypt. They should be given the choice of returning to Egypt or being deported to their own countries. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
15. So right, Alexander # 13
(Jewish)Oleh Chadash ,   Y'layim, IL   (06.10.12)
16. Don't let the fence hit you on your way out.
Katamon ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.10.12)
Good bye and have a pleasant trip.
17. OK!! Refugees are not cancer
dr harry ,   jerusalem   (06.10.12)
LEAVE OUR ONLY JEWISH COUNTRY. You people have the WHOLE WORLD at your disposal.GO THERE!!!! "Protesters want to be treated as individuals" OK!! PLEASE LEAVE OUR ONLY JEWISH COUNTRY. Is that better??
18. In my opinion, they should be forbidden
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.10.12)
to these gatherings and protests. They are not citizens and are not entitled to such things. They are being used as pawns by arabs/egyptians willing to damage Israel. If they entered by Egypt ,they must be sent to there and gather THERE for their rights. ISRAEL GOVT.MUST BE TAUGH IN THIS HORRIBLE ISSUE! Enough of this garbage issue!Israel does not have time to such things.Get rid of them NOW!
19. It's not our responsibility
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (06.10.12)
Sending the poor and desperate refugees of the world to countries like Israel and The US is not the answer. Problems should be solved where they begin. Israel is not a dumping ground for the world refugee problem. What is the UN for? Shouldn't the UN be intervening?
20. thanks for showing you abused the refugee status
zionist forever   (06.10.12)
" I want to move to Egypt because I cannot return to South Sudan. Israel was a good place but it no longer is" Thanks for admitting you abused the rights of refugees. A refugee is supposed to present himself at the closest safe country and formerly claim asylum, they are not supposed to look at a map of the world and chose a country they would like to go to. These people entered Israel via Sinai ( Egypt ) and now this guy wants to go back to Egypt because Israel is no longer a good place. If Egypt is safe enough for him to go to now why wasn't it safe enough for him to claim asylum before he entered Israel as a refugee is supposed to do? These people never claimed asylum meaning the Israeli government is under no obligation to take them in. I wonder how many of these do gooder humanitarians would be willing to take in the illegals and give them food and shelter at their own expense? These groups care about everybody but Israel's
21. Deport them quickly
Reuven   (06.10.12)
But at the same time take in the remaining Ethiopian Jews and Bnai Menasche Jews. The more Jews in Israel, the safer wee will be.
22. I want them here!
jay abouaf ,   Jaffa, Israel   (06.10.12)
You speak hysterically. They are not abusive; they are the most humble people in Israel. I want them here. Your grandma was illegal!
23. #13 Alexander - You need to unmask those behind this
Tracy W   (06.10.12)
Very well said. Since you're an Israeli I urge you to please EXPOSE the so-called human rights groups who are actively recruiting Africans to come to Israel in order to disrupt the country socially and to alter its demographics. This has been reported by a few websites, but it's not talked about much. It was also reported that the South Sudan government has set up an office in Tel Aviv aimed at financing the establishment of this colony of migrants. They fund businesses, their own newspaper, and more. The US government too is paying the Israeli government - through the UN - for each migrant in the country, thus financing African migration to Israel. Google "Pet Project: Illegal Immigration into Israel." The government of Israel is dithering and trying to appease the population with a few deportations here and there. Israelis need to have a permanent policy for dealing with this that involves UNHCR in order to prevent a much greater flood of refugees in the coming years.
24. WHAT?
Israeli 2   (06.10.12)
Some 300 asylum seekers hold protest march? CHUTZPA MAMASH!
25. # 14
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (06.10.12)
Plenty of room for them in Northumberland.
26. What I find strange.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.10.12)
It's a bit odd that for all its wealth, size, proximity and the fact that so many of the refugees are Muslims, they don't seem to want to go to Saudi Arabia. Wouldn't they be welcome there? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
27. Compensate
Zivron   (06.10.12)
Compensate the refugees by giving them enough money to go to Kenya where the original plan was and bribe their stay there.Kenya is safer and money is ammunition.
28. Refugees are not a cancer
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.10.12)
The only problem is they are not refugees - they are illegal economic migrants. Illegal - means criminal. All criminals are a cancer on every society. Sending them back will end their criminal status and hence they will cease to be a cancer. jay abouaf - you have every right to want them. But this is a democracy and the majority here doesn't and we too have rights - including the right to decide if they want criminals here.
29. If they should only move to bordering countries to
Am Israel Chai ,   Zionism   (06.10.12)
Their homeland ... How come we have somali people living inthe UK ... Germany and the US?
30. They are not refugees, they are illegal migrants
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (06.10.12)
If being poor was the same as being persecuted - all of Africa is being persecuted. If they truly are refugees & not just looking to make money, why didn't they stay in Egypt?
