1. Israel's borders was established by san Remo conference
Golan ,   Modiin   (06.11.12)
and those borders include what is today Israel and Jordan. So please stop this nonsense.
2. Save Israel by expelling leftist traitors!!
Sally M ,   Haifa   (06.11.12)
3. Dear Mr. Glick, that will be difficult
berlonski ,   berlin   (06.11.12)
... because if prominent figures of other countries used your arguments to put pressure on the Israeli government they would be immediately called de-legitimizers of Israel by the very same government. And anti-semitic by numerous op-eds here. Not to speak by the insults of the talkbackers' crowd. Probably even the fact that you work for the Goethe institute will be reason enough to brand you as an agent for jew-hating Europe. Sad, that many political discussions nowadays sank down on this demagogic level.
4. If Israel only
art   (06.11.12)
treated palestinians as human beings and stopped oppressing them they wouldn't have to worry about either settlements or anything. You pick you future.
5. Only a new government will save Israel
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (06.11.12)
but definitely not the government we have now. They would not manage to govern Disneyland!
6. The only help we should ask...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.11.12)
is G-Ds help. and that we can only do by not abandoning Him.
7. Historian
Ray   (06.11.12)
For someone who studies history you seem to ignore recent history. What makes you think that withdrawing again will end any differently than the withdrawals from Gaza and Lebanon?
8. World should help save Israel while Israel destroys it. HUH?
Allan ,   PT   (06.11.12)
Israel keeps building up barren regions and then destroys them with their own hand!!! or hands them over on silver platters to their enemies who - as a token of appreciation - fire hundreds of deadly rockets into Israel daily. Why should the world help a country that has leaders who are insane?
9. If you prefer, say Israel's borders are established by Torah
Akiva   (06.11.12)
How many times must the arab nations attack Israel before these lefties wake up and smell the coffee? The "Green Line" does not fit the definition of safe and secure borders. Hashem gave us the entirety of the land of Israel and anything less is inviting trouble. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
10. Boarders
Stuart ,   Hasting UK   (06.11.12)
You have fixed boarders it called the "green line" all you need to do is keep with in them. Here in the UK we leave products marked with 49 on the bar code to rot just as you do in the West Bank & Gaza.
11. On behalf of whom are such silly articles written?
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.11.12)
12. Israel's borders
Baruch Davis ,   London, UK   (06.11.12)
The borders 1949-67 were armistice lines only, not real borders. They were very dangerous borders; the writer is misguided in his nostalgia. Moreover, Israel came under pressure from the US in the 1950s to 'return' the Negev to Egypt. Our forebears, right up to 1948 would be horrified to see a large chunk of biblical Israel and areas that were settled right until modern times, termed as 'occupied'.
13. prevent total destruction?
tiki ,   belgium   (06.11.12)
"World should help Jewish State to put it's boundaries, befor we'll suffer total destruction!" In which world is the writer living? The world is doing 'everything in it's power PREVENTING Israel from putting it's own boundaries. Preventing it's own destruction is not part of the world's plan!
14. Judea and Samaria are Israel, to promote
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.11.12)
anything different is TREASON !
15. To give up on Judea and Samaria is the
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.11.12)
end of Zionism...plain and simple...So ***DON'T*** agitate for the DESTRUCTION of the Jewish state ! The author of this article must have a real sinister private agenda...unbelievable...this is mind- boggling !
16. Israeli borders
David M.   (06.11.12)
It seems Mr. Dor Glick is not aware that armistice lines of 1949, so called Auschwitz borders according to Abba Eban, were not accepted by any Arab country before 1967. West Jerusalem was not accepted as the Israel's capital before it was united with the historic Jewish East part by the most of the world either. So what makes Mr. Glick think that the armistice lines of 1949 would be more acceptable to the rest of the world now and would bring peace? Yes, some aberrations in the Israeli society, such as intolerance, should be addressed and corrected but it has nothing to do with borders.
17. Idiot
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (06.11.12)
Where does ynet get such idiots who have no sense of reality and knowledge of History Pride and International Law. Israel has every right to claim her own borders she is not a colony. If it is a point where you want the world to set Israel's borders then maybe your views become majority don't deserve to have a country but fortunely as a Jew and others in Israel who are a majority don't share your views.
18. Total Self Destruction
dr harry ,   Jerusalem   (06.11.12)
Spoken by a TRUE ignorant person. Where have you been. Have you been sleeping for the last 2000 years??? You are asking THE WORLD, who wishes our demise, set our BORDERS. Our borders have been set by GOD, Himself. Our destruction from THE WORLD, who you foolishly are trusting, will come without borders. It is people like you, who obviously do not believe in God & His Torah, have this fear. You should have finished your studies first before writing an article. A speedy Recovery.
19. The memory of these 19 years, during which
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.11.12)
the holiest places of the Jewish people had been spoiled and desecrated ! These 19 years will hopefully NEVER EVER been forgotten !
20. Not much of an Historian
Shmuel ,   Merkaz, Israel   (06.11.12)
Doesn't this proposal sound familiar?? Do the names Hyrcanus and Aristobulus ( הורקנוס ואריסטובולוס ) sound familiar?? Seeking the intervention of foreign powers is the surest path to destruction....
21. Israel is...
Jules   (06.11.12)
... the only LEGITIMATE state in the Middle East, because it is a liberal democracy. All other countries are dictatorships, which means Israel has all the rights to take any steps to achieve its interests. Including the territorial expansion, of course.
22. #4 - art
Devorah   (06.11.12)
Learn some history. There are no "palestinians" because there has never been a self-determining nation called "palestine." Never.
23. The Palst don't want peace. Many Jews are willing to settle
Sam ,   Canada   (06.11.12)
When Palestinians are willing to have an acceptable peace there will be more concrete borders. Don't hold your breath. The Palestinian idea of peace means no Jewish Israel. They just want to move Jews off more and more territory. Articles like this are music to their ears. The settlers will counter the Palestinians by moving on to more and more territory.
24. Israel
Robert ,   Tampa   (06.11.12)
I used to support Israel, land of milk and honey and all that. It now has reached the point where after watching Israel's religious fanatics that view non-Jews as sub-human take control of the country and act out these views, I now don't care if Israel continues to exist.
25. The author gets it right
Avramele   (06.11.12)
When the author speaks of borders he is referring to the moral boundaries we have crossed over the past 40 years. The fetish of the land has made us loose sight of the true purposes of Zionism - the creation of a Jewish state based on the prophetic values of our people, justice, compassion and peace.
26. No limit to sickness of the left.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.11.12)
Glicks' appalling article underlines the fact that there is no limit to the sickness of the Israeli left. It is Israel that has always saved herself. The world is indifferent to our welfare and the welfare of most. It is incredible to see such blatant lunacy from supposed adults.
27. contradictory proposition
Eisenfeld ,   Ashkelon   (06.11.12)
the question of the frontiers is the result of the continous efforts of the nations to deny and prevent any jewish sovereignity, so is not from them that you can get a frontier, at best they will give as, the walls of cimeteries.
28. Boundaries?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (06.11.12)
The Rhodes agreement in 1949 established cease fire lines; The arab negotiators required expressly that they should not be quoted international borders. And Transjordan and Egypt processed to annex their Gaza and Westbank occupation zone. So why be more irredent and legalistic than the Arabs themselves? Of course, referring to this embittered senile fool Leibowitz, now an icon of the antisemitic hate industry, is an explanation.
29. "total destruction" - seriously?
nadav ,   tlv   (06.11.12)
I think the loony left is once again caught with their pants down. What the world needs to do is finally reaslize that Jordan=palestine, that the latter entity is not a Nation nor State. it is a geographic term! Jordan, which was carved out of the Mandate that was allocated for a Jewish homeland, is an imperialist British invention. The so called "royal" family is not even from that area and they ruthlessly rule over a majority population of those who call themselves "palestinians." A just solution would be to remove the monarchy in Jordan, which is soon to be yet another failed state, and replace it with a democratic republic. Israel can then divide Area A and part of Area B of the West Bank with that new, free and democratic country. that is a lasting and just peaceful solution to our conflict!
30. Question to Glick
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.11.12)
Name one Arab leader who would agree to peace based on the 1948 armistice lines. None exists.
