1. Not very Jewish!
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (06.12.12)
B"H - ..and they want to become conversions authority. What a laugh of erev rav!
2. I am afraid that kind of publicity...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.12.12)
struck also a discordant chord. Might discourage some Haredi people to joining the IDF.
3. I'm proud of the IDF
Northern ,   Ashkelon   (06.12.12)
Seriously, what a splendid thing to do to embrace all soldiers regardless of such unimportant details as who they choose to sleep/fall in love with! Kol ha kavod le tsahal!
4. i am ashamed ! The Arabs and Iranians will laugh at us !
(06.12.12)
5. Indeed very Jewish
Northern ,   Ashkelon   (06.12.12)
Jewish culture is all about tolerance.
6. To no1
David ,   Israel   (06.12.12)
Not very Jewish that religious pull the card of studying Torah as an excuse to not serve in the army. Not very Jewish that Yeshiva managers steal money from the government by making fake lists of students. Atleast the homosexual civilians choose to draft and by being accepted within this liberal army then go on to positively contribute!
7. My dear Ora (number 2)
Joshua ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.12.12)
When the Haredi actually start joining the army under the same conditions as homosexuals do (i.e. just like any normal citizen in this country), even then they cannot complain. I know many combat officers that have been willing to give their lives on more than one occasion... who also happen to be gay. They're proud to serve their country AND proud of who they are. I'm not so sure the Haredim can say the same.
8. Mixing issues
Nechama ,   USA   (06.12.12)
What has to do one thing with another? About positive contribution for whom? What has to do with unproven fake list's that you mention? Is something for the army to handle accordingly. Your anti-religious exposure point of view shows you have no tolerance. Actually, there are more observant Jews in the army that ever was...all of them ready to fight for our country while the liberals make excuses not to be on it. All Elite units have a tremendous percentage of religious soldiers. Look at the statistics, it may make you more accepting!
9. Tsahal photo
basri ,   paris, france   (06.12.12)
I love Tsahal, I am proud of Israƫl army. It makes me happy, even if I am very far. But this picture is sad, like a nightmare. This can be private, but not exposed.
10. Having the same rights does not....
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (06.12.12)
....have to mean flaunting....What two people do in their own private time is their own business....I also couldn't care who holds hands with who....However, is this why we are supposed to be proud of the IDF? I am proud of the IDF because it is the most bravest and moral army in the world (don't believe me; ask British War Hero, Richard Kemp)....NOT because they feature two combat male soldiers holding hands on their site....
11. what is the IDF trying to prove???
Haya ,   Tel Aviv   (06.12.12)
Why does this have to be publicized??? It sickens me to see that picture.
12. This is nothing at all to be proud of.
Doug ,   U.S.   (06.12.12)
13. Money & Power of the left rule Israel
MoreJewishBabies ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.12.12)
The only possible way of defeating the leftist agenda in this country is by changing the demographics more healthy Jews be they Secular National Relgious Traditional or Haredi as nothing at the moment can counter the extreme wealth and power of the Left be it in politics business or the media only demographic change' large healthy Jews added to the voting roles nothing nothing else. It is not a war against Homosexuals but it is a fight for sanity and healthy lifestyles to prevail.
14. My concern is secular parents too.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.12.12)
Isn t it enough they fear for their children s physical security, do they have to fear for their good morals too?
15. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.12.12)
Alexander the Great, who was a pretty fair soldier in his own right, was gay. So what's your problem?
16. Calm down
Bryan ,   New York, NY   (06.12.12)
Calm down. The IDF is not giving special treatment to LBGT soldiers. It does this when it presents women soldiers, religious soldiers, Ethiopian soldiers, Druze soldiers, Arab soldiers, etc. It is all part of demonstrating that Israel is a modern, enlightened, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic state--this, too, is part of Zionist values.
17. Sarah B (#15), you missed the point of my post....
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (06.12.12)
....but I'll spell it out for you....I am sure there are brave gay soldiers in the IDF, as there are brave religious, brave Druze, brave Russian, brave Ethiopian, brave native English speaking, etc. soldiers....That is NOT the point....The point is what people do in their bedroom (gay, straight, or other) is their own business and does not have to be plastered on the official IDF website for the whole world to see....Got it!!!!
18. Alexander the great
adding to Sara B's ,   World   (06.12.12)
2,300 years ago men in Greece had wives, mistresses, and lovers of either gender.Alexander married, polygamously, three 'barbarians'--the daughter of a Sogdian warlord and two Persian royal women--and encouraged his closest companions to take foreign wives too. Like hunting, homosexuality was thought to foster masculine, especially martial, bravery. He made some horrible mistakes, including killing an old family friend in a drunken brawl, but he was deeply religious, and truly believed that by exceeding the feats of the gods (like Hercules) he could become a god himself.
19. If you are afraid of what Arabs and Iran think of you...
HG ,   USA   (06.12.12)
You are very sad indeed.
20. Gay IDF?
JohnG ,   Leawood USA   (06.12.12)
this is a shame ...
21. Ora , true gays are born so .
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.12.12)
For you , it's G-d who made them Gay . No fear for secular parents as we talk here about soldiers , adults . Have a look at lists of known gay people . You will be astonished ...
22. to #13... you are basically correct but religious Jews must
Ari ,   Israel   (06.12.12)
also get a ligh level of education, be it law, medicine, technology or other... More religious must also enter politics so as to change the system (for the better) from within. Pray is important but HONESTLY not enough. We must DO, WORK and BE WISE.
23. goldstein211st@mac.com
David Goldstein ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.12.12)
It makes me proud to be Israeli!
24. hope idf will still honor women too...
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (06.12.12)
...when the haredim start to enter en mass bringing misogyny and religious coercion into IDF.
25. Then they wonder why Haredim don't join this immoral
Dov   (06.12.12)
corrup anti-Torah G-dless army.
26. I LOVE THE IDF
Moshico ,   Jerusalem   (06.12.12)
Awesome, Proud to be Jewish, Proud to be Israeli and Proud of the IDF and if any one has a problem with its policy stuff them.
27. ORA
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (06.12.12)
Fact do you know that Haradim and other religious men can be gay, this may give them the opportunity that they need to come out.
28. So called enligtenment
Levi ,   Isral   (06.12.12)
and multiculturalist values (I.e. Universalist values) has always being antithetical to Jewish values. The world ain't gonna love us and accept us because we are oh so tolerant. As a matter of fact they hate us...for rejecting our values. No one will respect you if you don't respect yourself or your basic moral values. Don't believe me? Check out "queers for palestine".
29. Oi gevalt
Observer ,   Globe   (06.12.12)
30. ashamed no.4....
meir ,   israel   (06.12.12)
Let those laughing arabs & iranians show up here uninvited. That "couple" and the rest of the IDF will stop them laughing right quick.
