1. Illegal immigrants
Ivan ,   South Africa   (06.12.12)
How did so many illegal immigrants get into Israel in the first place? Israeli border security should have intercepted them from day one and not waited for the numbers to increase to this level. I'm sure they didn't come in via Israeli ports or Ben Gurion Airport.
2. @1 Through unguarded border with Egypt
Benjamin ,   TA Israel   (06.12.12)
Egypt until recently was almost "friend" of Israel and border was only nominally guarder - with mobile patrols. That is main route for illegal drugs, infiltrators and sex slaves traffickers into Israel. Police started fight sex slavery only recently, it was turning blind eye on it before.
3. #1: they came through the border with Egypt
(06.12.12)
The border between Israel and Egypt is a joke. The Beduins control the Sinai and get millions for smuggling whatever they can into Israel - women (who work as prostitutes in Israel), weapons for Gaza and in the last few years all of Africa into Israel. After Mubarak regime was toppled the problem increases.

They remind me of something I have seen before- Like being sent to camps?
6. Equal international distribution of burden
Yael ,   Gush Etzion   (06.12.12)
I don't understand why this has become such a big problem in Israel. These illegal migrants should have their cases checked farely, if genuine humanitarian refugees, Israel should be only responsible to integrate a % equivalent to that of other countries. Australia's humanitarian program is set to accept 13,750people this year. And thats into a population of 21 Million. Now you do the maths, that means Israel with a population of 7million, should be accepting around 3,500????
7. we need to go after employers and lay minefields
zionist forever   (06.12.12)
We need more than one detention centre, we need to be able to hold all the Africans and the thousands of economic migrants from other parts of the world here illegally. The border fence should be surrounded by a minefield to stop the smugglers( drug & people smuggler ) They are always going to find a way to get past a conventional border fence but surround it by mines and its another matter. It also needs to be watched by UAVS 24/7 so we can respond quickly although not arrest otherwise they become our responsibility. Have a zero tolerance policy to employers of illegals if they are found to be employing illegals first offense will land you in a jail cell along with a huge fine and there must be regular spot checks on companies so they know that even if the break the law nobody will check up on them anyway. Lets demand the Histadrut to do a favour for the state for a change get them to keep their eyes open for and snitch on anybody hiring illegals. At the same time lets start a campaign to get unemployed Israelis into work, even a low paid job is better than no job. Do that and we can also stop issuing visa to Filipinos who are supposed to be here 4-5 years but decide never to go back because they prefer Israel and the police have better things to do that go checking up on people who overstayed their welcome.
8. Illegals
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.12.12)
Maybe Israel should seriously fine and then publish the photos of anyone, CEO's included, who hire illegals. Publishing the photos of the johns, who "enjoy" the hospitality of hookers would slow down that trade, too. It all comes down to this: If there were no demand, there'd be no supply ..... Of course, I can already hear the negotiations for the price not to publish photos, to attach a wrong name etc. By the time the bureaucrats figure out how and why that, too, is illegal, there'll be a few more millionaires.
