(06.14.12)
Coming to Israel under the GUISE of humanitarian aid? Who sent these ships? Did Israel have a LEGAL BLOCKADE IN PLACE? Why would IDF Comando's Carry Practice Gear on a Live full speed mission? What Has Always been the Intent of arabs in Regards To Israel and it Jewish citizens? I Fully Support Bibi his Job is against Insumountable odds and yet Israel is Thriving amongst All The Daily Threats? Ok Geniuses now's your chance; Fire away?
2. Common Sense!
Robert Blum ,   New Albany, USA   (06.14.12)
How can the Israeli army, including leftist betrayers like Barak, sell their troops short by not anticipating that Muslims will behave according to the dictates of their hate-filled Qoran?!
3. Flotilla mistakes
Floriane ,   Israel   (06.14.12)
Are we supposed to let terrorists come through with weapons and look the other way? Saying that there were mistakes thwarts the credibility and reputation of Israel? Isn't it bad enough already?
4. How many more mistakes is Netanyahu going to make?
David, ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.14.12)
The "Flotilla", the Carmel Fire Disaster, the illegals that have come in on HIS watch. The rise of Jewish Fascism by member of his own party and coalition members, the betrayal of his voters in the "Territories", the Natan Eshel debacle, the gas crises facing Israel and the world hatred you and your minions have brought on Israel and Jews and many more. Mr. Netanyahu, you deprived us of early elections to save you own skin. There will be an election the just as the people gave, the people will take away! Bibi, you can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Time to say goodbye, Bibi! We the people will see to that in 2013!
5. Yes, it's obvious our "leaders" made mistakes. They just...
S.F. Stoner ,   Carmiel, Israel   (06.14.12)
aren't admitting to it. "Who could possibly know that there might be bad guys on the flotilla ship?" They had no plan B. This same band of amateurs is planning the raid on Iran??
6. Flotilla. For heavens sake get a life and

7. Netanyahu, Barak and Us
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.14.12)
Netanyahu and Barak think that the Israeli public is stupid. And they are absolutely correct. For what intelligent electorate would elect these arrogant incompetents into office, time and time again ?
8. Incredible!!! With all the hype prior
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.14.12)
to the flotilla, Barak et al did not anticipate violence and therefore did not properly prepare for it??? So they were quite lackadaisical and relaxed about it? OMG! Are these supposed to be intelligent people running a country and overseeing its security? OMG! So incredible! Barak should be totally ashamed. He should have resigned IMMEDIATELY. Bibi should also be ashamed for shielding this bumbling incompetent.
9. Easy to dismiss your mistakes
Naor ,   USA   (06.14.12)
Yet Israel has 3 disabled commandos and not even a single leader standing up and taking responsibility for what happened. Its easy to pass on your mistakes.
10. "Resistance" or attack?

rmeasures, even without the direct order. Israeli COS at the time of the Yom Kippur War pre-mobilized extra divisions despite opposition of Dayan and G.Meir. He got the blame for Yom Kippur unprreparadness anyhow ,but he had shown more more foresight and decisiveness than Askenazy.Good riddance to him and hopefully the present COS will behave differently
12. Begin and Bibi.
David Mendoza ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (06.14.12)
Begin is a very honourable man and has done the job apologising for himself and others. Its amazing that Bibi himself never apologises and we all know that its not for his lack of well documented failures.
13. There is no excuse for lack of preparedness.
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (06.14.12)
To board a hostile ship without being prepared is akin to a SWAT team arriving at a hostage stand off and not being prepared for fatalities. The only difference is that in Western countries people are made to take responsibilities for their incompetence and are fired. Here in Israel they just carry on like business as usual. Some people should be demoted and fired.
14. Who leads us?
Alf Red ,   Londonistan   (06.14.12)
I remember a saying by some distinguished person about British Army in the 1st World War: They were lions led by donkeys. It comes to my mind when I see this current noise about the Comptroller's conclusions. They are too meek! Every Dick and Harry in Israeli street knew that "Marmara" peace-loving hoard was a bunch of murderers bent on Jewish blood. Yet Ehud Barak, who never loses opportunity to lose an opportunity, sent a few brave lions into the murderous crowd with paint-ball guns. Isn't it a great example of lions being led by donkeys? Now Mr Begin, who is a very dim shadow of his great Father, tells us that "everybody is clever with hindsight". That being so - but only about our Israeli "leaders", who lead from behind and think only about what the "International community" would say about THEM. They are selling our lions very-very short!
15. Big mistakes were made, like violating international law
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (06.14.12)

michael Pielet ,   israel   (06.14.12)
AB, pre mobilized extra divisions? Sorry, there were none. Read the Agranat report, check your history! I will go with The Prime Minister and Barak. You can have the comptroller, Ron B Y, Diskin, Dagan and company. Stop complaining.

18. flotilla
sealift67 ,   fair oaks ca   (06.14.12)
Gaza blockade is legal and necessary. Flotilla was clearly a symbolic provocation, basically to seek attention and propaganda. That said there are tried and true methods to enforce a blockade, to halt a vessel and board if necessary. Think of '61 Cuba blockade. Form a picket line, fire over the bow if necessary, send a boarding crew on a tender, use cowboy tactics as a last resort. Recall, all of the other vessels had cooperated. These blockade testers were itching for an international incident. One can be right but handle a situation in an unsophisticated manner. Doubtless IDF and Naval tacticians have learned important lesson.

guns. Barak must be removed as defense minister. He is a total i8ncompetwent (witness his mistakes in Lebanon, for example). Yaalon would make a great defense minister.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.14.12)
Excuse me, but Israel was enforcing a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade, against a flotilla of vessels which carried no humanitarian whatsoever (unless you think that a handful of expired over-the-counter medications and a box of old, mouldy blankets constitute "humanitarian aid). The "flagship" vessel, the MAVI MARMARA, was known to be carrying terrorists, terrorist sympathizers and agents provocateur. There was absolutely nothing in the international canon of maritime convention and law to have barred Israel from simply blowing up the MAVI MARMARA. Yet Israel chose the high road, which (to my mind, at least) put Israeli troops in unecessary danger. Do keep that in mind. When dealing with scum, sophistication goes out the window. That's an important lesson worth learning. Another important lesson for you is that it is not your place to teach the IDF and naval tacticians ANYTHING. By the way -- there is no requirement that a shot over the bow should be fired in order to stop a deliberate attempt to run a blockade. Perhaps you should freshen up on your "knowledge" of admiralty law.
22. Whose Idea?
M Carr ,   Baltimore, USA   (06.14.12)
I may have missed it but what exactly was the purpose of the paint-ball guns and who came up with the tactic?

jay abouaf ,   Jaffa, Israel   (06.14.12)
It seems to me that our Defense Minister Ehud Barak is not held accountable for all of the serious mistakes he makes.

sealift67 ,   fair oaks ca   (06.15.12)
Did you actually read my post? I stated the blockade is legal. I did not state firing over the bow was necessary, simply a tactic used for centuries as a step to attempt to avoid escalation. IDF "troops" were never danger. Sophistication never 'goes out the window' or civilization fails. The last vessel in the flotilla would have been easy to interdict without heli-rapel methods. I was in the gulf in '67 and we did stop Russian ships from supplying our enemies. Cowards back down. Sarah I am sure you are a fine person and a patriot yet you are allow you ego to run rampant. And yes I have consulted with naval tacticians but I don't want my talkback censored.
25. #21 redux
sealift67 ,   fair oaks ca   (06.15.12)
Although I am wasting my time trying to be rational with an irrational sort I am compelled to correct you regarding the nature of a blockade. The history goes back to the 15th century and is complex re numerous treaties and modifications. Simply put when a port is legally blockaded it is 'cordoned off' by stationing of naval vessels re a picket line. This is to prohibit all seaborne commerce. A ship attempting to pass through such a blockade may be warned, halted, seized(in that order) and in none of the many treaties is it agreed there is no bar to "simply blow up" the offending vessel. Read about the duties of both neutrals and belligerents, naval laws, customs and tactics.
26. It's turkey ,not Israel
American ,   Los Angeles   (06.15.12)
No matter what Israel reaction is ,the turks are trying to break their relation with Israel and this is ireversable. Turkey is a islamo-fascist state and there is no way back. The populace is brainwashed and anti-Semitic in it's nature and the media is fueling this tendencies dayly.
27. oversees and domestic message
Bob   (06.15.12)
"The report stated that the public diplomacy bureau in the Prime Minister's Office did not distinguish between Israel's domestic messages and those directed to the international community. " This is stupidity. You have to be honest. And thus give the same message to both. Any criticism of Israel should be in context relative to how other countries perform. The Flotilla is actually a good argument against Israel's enemys and not really a "hasbara" disaster. It just took the truth to come out And actually, the Israeli Government provided video footage which turned the situation around. They provided the facts and it made news. I was proud of Israel. Which seldom happens under other PMs, but happens under Netanyahu.
