1. What is he?
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.17.12)
If he was Haredi, we would have heard "he is haredi, all haredim are pedophiles" If he lived in Judea or Samaria, we would have heard "he is mitnahel, all mitnahlim are pedophiles" If he was from a development town or Mizrahi we would have heard "All the Mizrahi are pedophiles, look at Katzav" Can it be that the press has stopped incitement? Or is he an Ashkenazi hiloni from Tel Aviv?
2. #1, SMART.....

basically you've decoded the mentality of the Israel media. One side win all: no matter how difficult is the case, but it does not fit the normativity of the Israel pathos and ethos, meaning the MORAL superiority of on particular group, then it is not annouce and divulged. See what they have done with Mayor Malca: all over the place. The poor guy never had a chance as the Media alread chrged, indicted, and judged and foun guilty before the get go. Look at the myth of the land, you always find that streak of eastern european maledorant.
3. # 1 Israel Israeli

whatever he is, he is now known as one sick shit. Pedophilia is not limited to one people, unfortunately, it's in all societies.
4. #3, Sorry you're missing the point!
Buskila ,   South America   (06.17.12)
The case in point is emblamatic the way Israel media is dealing with aspects of Israel society, as such he did'nt approach with a sociologist, but as an ethnic phenomenon that repeats itself in many instances, which create a sense of EIPHA and EIPHA. Neederless to recount the various instances that assume vertues or lack of them from one party to another. Making fass out of some achievement just because you belong...on the other hand ignore a contribution from some other. You might call these remarks as pitiful, it will just increase the suspicion in the eyes of those observator of the Israeli society, in light of practical examples that she or he witness in daily life.
5. The Story is More Amazing when a so called "RELIGIOUS"
Netanya ,   Netanya   (06.18.12)
person does something so vile and immoral, that is why it is written. I understand your point, but do feel that anyone who is supposedly religious and claims to hold to a higher standing then the rest of us, must know that he will be judged to a standard equivalent to his claims. Katsev was not charged due to his Mizrahi heritage, otherwise how did he get to be president? Your ideas are the same as the leftists in USA who call anyone who criticizes Obama a racist. When I first moved to Israel, I thought that everyone with a kippa was a good person, since they are following G-d's laws, including do unto others. I realized very quickly that many are only wolves in sheep's clothing. It is a very sad reality here.
6. Missing the point, indeed!
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (06.18.12)
Another reason to grieve for Israel's current state. This horrific series of crimes against children/teens is reduced to a blog chat about how the media views MY group compared to YOUR group. The man is a monster if these charges are proven true and should be permanently removed from society regardless of whether he is haredi, an Ayn Rand atheist or a purple squid. It is all about the victims, people! Leave your politics aside for one freaking moment...

Either the background of all offenders should be publicised, or none should be. Do not pick on minorities. Remember an important fact: Being religious does not mean evil impulse are magically removed. All it means is that one wants to strives for perfection. Unfortunately, a human is not always capable of withstanding his challenges, whether he wears a kippa or not. That does not mean that it is more “amazing” when they succumb. On the contrary, the secular think they have the proper lifestyle – they are the enlightened ones, not those living in the Middle Ages. They think they are better than the self-proclaimed religious. So they are the ones who should never be caught out doing bad things – and if they are – surely that is more “amazing”!
8. Jojo , 100 % WRONG [ as always ]
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.18.12)
Religious ALWAYS claim that their STANDARDS are higher than those of the seculars . Religious offenders are guilty TWICE . First , and MOST important , against the STATE laws . Secondly against their "religious" laws .
