1. Why?
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.29.12)
Why do you want to become citizen by choice of a country that did nothing to save your grand parents from the Nazis. Do you thing the Nazis could have murdered 2.5 million polish Jews without the polish people looking the other way at best or actively helping them at worst?
2. Jews consider returning to lands of murderous oppression.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.29.12)
It is depressing that Jews would consider leaving our liberated true Homeland to return to a land whose rivers literally ran red with Jewish blood. A land of murderous oppression. Jews are so smart in science, arts, business, high tech .... Just about everything except self respect and survival.
3. Feeling homesick, back to the roots?
Cynic #2   (06.29.12)
4. Interesting similarities
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (06.29.12)
5. Get a clue. Europe is no paradise either.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (06.29.12)
The list of European countries facing economic problems - Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Spain - may expand to include Cyprus. Hostility toward Jews and Israelis is widespread, and most Jewish institutions require extra security. As Europe's Arab and Muslim populations grow, that hostility only increases, as do the associated social problems. However frustrating life in Israel might be, most will eventually find that Europe isn't necessarily better.
6. Shame on you!!!
Southern Man ,   Burlington, NC, USA   (06.29.12)
7. EU Prosperity hilarious...hahaha
aL   (06.29.12)
Europe as well as America is tanking. For thsoe Jews wishing to return to Europe, forget Israels name, forget her address. We wont be coming to save your ass once you get jacked. Israel must institute an exit tax for these turncoats.
8. Silly Americans. They guys simply just want to work in EU.
Avi   (06.29.12)
I applied for Czech passport and I live in london now, best move ever for a 30 year to gain work experience in jobs I wouldn't get in Israel. Period!
9. European prosperity???
Jake   (06.29.12)
Have any of these klutzes read the international section of a newspaper in the last 5 years?
10. #3 Actually it's forbidden under Jewish Law
Jake   (06.29.12)
..except under extenuating circumstances, and even then only temporarily, for a Jew to leave the Land of Israel.
11. The "Haaretz team" are welcome to leave
Jake   (06.29.12)
for the EU. May they be lead by their "prophet" Schocken back to Berlin, to reestablish their "Muqata" there, where they will be embraced with open arms, as useful idiots....till they their usefulness runs out and they overstay their welcome.
12. Ahmadinejad and scumbags like #3 are applauding
Jake   (06.29.12)
13. "They do not seek to emigrate to Warsaw"
Jake   (06.29.12)
"Most applicants admit that they do not seek to immigrate to Warsaw, but hope to become citizens of the EU." Hopefully the Polish Embassy sees through the trick and doesn't indulge these pathetic opportunists.
14. Did you guys read
MichaeL ,   Weat Jerusalem   (06.29.12)
The article said "MOST" don't want to immigrate to Poland.
15. that's correct, silly americans!
Shmuel ,   Brazil   (06.30.12)
they don't live in Israel or LA countries...
16. Congratulations#8
Howard ,   Seatle USA   (06.30.12)
Avi,You live in Londinstan in what will become Eurabia and seem quite proud of that.I doubt that within a generation or two your family will even be Jewish but you will have your money and experience.I hope it was worth it.
17. Silly buggers! All they want is not be "frayers", when there
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.30.12)
is an opportunity (that's how they percieve it anyway) to be had :an "edge" over the next guy... That is our irritating but typical trait. Most of them will never ever use it anyway. I use my EU passport to get into the shorter queue at airports, that's all!Besides that: #16, really? How many have it in us, to consider our great grandchildren's identity, nationality & really care if they're lawyers or Jewish? Just asking....
18. Bad News!
Reuven   (06.30.12)
19. I agree
Mary   (06.30.12)
Every responsible Israel citizen should seek for a citizenship of a democratic country for himself and his family. The EU is a place where law is considered without prejudice about religion, race, and culture to everyone.
20. #16 well i also took advantage of this passport opp and i
Zvi Marks ,   London / JSLM   (06.30.12)
live in London too, i've been to Austria just one time. Apart from that living in London has given me the chance to work in areas that Israel dont have for a 25 year old but dont worry, I will be back in Israel soon enough with life experience. As for your Londonstan comment, I actually live in a flourishing Jewish part of London, I have a Jewish wife.. so... whatever old Howard in rainy boring Seattle.
21. The best opportunity is where Jewish kids can marry Jewish
Moshe ,   Usa   (06.30.12)
And that opportunity is living in Israel.
22. If someone wants another country's
jason white ,   afula, israel   (07.01.12)
citizenship, then let them lose their Israeli citizenship. Will the poles be building a Jewish town near Auschewitz? That is the result of polish hatred of the Jews.
23. Going out for what purpose?
Javaid Rao ,   Islamabad   (07.01.12)
The Israilites should be going out. But for what purpose? Is it the same business and happiness of the life? I believe there should be some sort of workig for the original purpose of the Prophet Ibrahim's mission. It includes purification of people, teaching them the wisdom and book. All in order to arrange their lives keeping in order to have the future and the real life after death.
24. IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD THING? ? ? ?
ALBERTO   (06.30.12)
25. Point Being Missed Here: If War Comes, They Escape To Poland
Mariemma Lopes ,   Oporto, Portugal   (06.30.12)
If war with Iran comes, these people who have applied for Polish citizenship have an escape route. They just think like chess players and those criticising them don't realize, this isn't about moving to Poland NOW, this is about possibly ESCAPING to Poland if Israel is attacked. Yeah, it might be cowardly but this is in fact a story with reference to a possible future point in time, not now.
26. "European Prosperity" - seriously?
nadav ,   tlv   (07.01.12)
has no one been watching the news lately? The EU is expected to enter a decades long decline, much like Japan has had in the last 20 years. European growth rate is negative or close to zero and not only in the West, Hungary, Romania, Latvia, Czech Rep. and Cyprus have serious problems with their economy. Poland may actually be doing better, but for how long? Israelis should stay put and continue building THEIR OWN economic prosperity rather than jump ship like rats!
27.  Forgive,but DO NOT FORGET.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.01.12)
28. These people will be safe in Poland..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.01.12)
ONLY if Israel wins the war.
29. You are welcome.
Michal ,   Warsaw, Poland   (07.02.12)
Well, It is always nice to see that somebody wants to live in Poland. I think that we should remember that Jews and Poles were living together in Poland for centuries.
30. to jason white
Justine   (07.02.12)
Auschwitz was the result of GERMAN hatred of the Jews. Jews have lived in Poland for centuries - longer than in the independent state of Israel so far. And the biggest disasters - Chmielnicki and the Holocaust - came from outside. Yes, I know there was antisemitism, but If Poland wasn't invaded, millions of Jews would still live there.
