Reform Judaism does not have hundreds of thousands of Israeli followers. Reform has always been free to build their temples in Israel, but I doubt that their membership lists run to even the tens of thousands of Halachic Israeli Jews. Under the status quo agreement Halachic Judaism became the established religion of the state. The main push for a change is coming from California and Reform, not from within Israel by Israeli natives.
