Dr. Gerstenfeld provides many examples in making his arguments. He cites major media outlets and major public figures. He points to the consistent anti- Israel stand of the Norwegian government. It would be nice however to think that Israel has many friends in Norway who are working to correct the present prejudiced position. And in that case the author of this present piece is appreciated.

Hi Kristina. I have been living in Norway 27 years. I must say that most of the Norwegians i deal with have nothing against jews or Israel. But I'm not living in Oslo. I know some of jews that they do not dare to send their kids to the scool because of the fact that they are jewish. The media in Norway is horrible and anti jewish. You can not find anything positive in Norwegian media about Israel and jews. Sometimes you can hear when some jews are attacked that some left politician says that the contry must help the jews but all that is just a talk.

Sadly, Ms. Furnes just does not get it. Norway has gotten away with its Jew hatred for far too long. Put simply, Norway is just another Jew hating oil fueled regime. The Norwegian Left is a shameful bunch of thugs that deserves opprobrium because they are lemmings aping their mentor - Quisling ! Boycotting Norway and shaming her citizens at every opportunity is the recourse that must be followed.

Dershowitz is a eminent lawyer, not an expert/authority on Israeli politics, just an interested party. The U of O wanted him to speak about the OJ Simpson trial, about which he is indeed an expert. Had he agreed to do that, he would have been most welcome and the auditorium would have been filled to overflowing.

I have followed the Utoya case extensively and have never heard of this. There are many survivors, so I can't exclude it. But this comparison is not at all representative of their statements. I can however confirm Furnes' review of the statistics. If the survey proves that Norwegians are antisemites, then we really really hate muslims and gypsies! They score off the charts compared to jews. eg in response to who you wouldn't like to have as your neighbour.

What do you want to say with your comment? In Norway you have 250000 muslims and many muslim criminals. You can find 1500 jews and almost no crime. Why should 12 % of the population hate us? Because of Palestinian arabs, the media or because that in koran is written that you must hate jews?

That is the reality in Norway, I have 3 kids and I understood many years ago that a week jew is a dead jew. Because of that I taught them to be strong. If you didn't register in the exellent and true article where the numbers came from, I can repeat it for you(sited directly from above):the Center for Studies of Holocaust and Religious Minorities, the Anti-Defamation League, and Gerstenfeld's interpretation of those 'surveys'. It's sad that if a country like Norway tries to be objective and help in peace negociations, people like him feels like he got a whole country against him... it says a lot about his character and tactics, his efforts don't bring about peace and understanding, but creates fear in the people that believe him, and the arguments are ridicoulus, we fought against Hitler, unlike the Swedish, and most of the christian majority in Norway feels very strong(and positively) about the cradle of their religion (They dont know most of the stories in the 'good book' was ripped out of Egyptian mythology), . I didn't want to turn this into a religious debate, but it is important to understand that the view of some people that Jews look upon themselves as better or more important, comes from the fact that they claim to be gods chosen people, from the scripture. I have lived in Norway all my 67 years, and been active in trying to explain Israel's situation in more than 30 of them. 38 % of Norwegians think that Israel treats the Palestinians as bad as the Nazis treated the Jews. And 29 % more "do not know", only 33 % felt they could reject such a statement. Whatever you may think about the conflicts Israel is involved in, every and any comparison to Holocaust is simply sick. Those schools, universities, churches, TV-programs, newspapers etc. that has put these ideas into so many Norwegian heads, are anti-semitic. Up till now, it might have been unconcious. But as far as I can see, most of them intend to just continue after they know the result of their systematic effort. Then the antisemitism turns really ugly, I fear. I hope that Jewish leaders and other well-intended people stop telling Norwegians that the stuff that has installed such sick ideas in the heads of so many Norwegians, is not antisemittic. It is.
