3. Context missing from article:
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (06.21.12)
The salesperson claimed to have overheard the woman saying the Mac was to be shipped to her family in Iran. This is strictly against US and Apple policy. It was NOT profiling, the sales person was attempting to prevent the US laws from being broken.
4. Anyhow, it is a mystery that .......
Robert ,   Australia   (06.21.12)
.....anyone would want to acquire anything American after its record of war crimes across the world.
5. I smell liberals
Iranian Hunter   (06.21.12)
Why is her cousins still living in Iran ? DOes she knows it's against the US laws to betray USA ? Or having double loyalty ? Or supporting financially Iran while living on the luxuries of USA ? This woman is trying to break US laws. I would immediately arrest her for treason.
6. Majority of Iranians in the U.S.

are against the regime in Iran and are pro-American.

R Narz ,   Toronto   (06.21.12)
I happen to have a coworker who is Iranian and wow, hard to believe what an extreme nutcase she is; I wouldn't sell HER an iPad. Still I almost see such a policy as a bit foolish, as she can just exit Apple store and go to Best Buy or Staples or . . .
8. Majority of Iranians
Nigel ,   London   (06.21.12)
are Iranians and support Iran. That is the truth.

10. Hypocrite liberals
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (06.21.12)
Iranians won't buy so much as an an apple (the kind that grows on trees) from Israel and they cry me a river when Apple forbids sales of high tech devices to an embargoed nation? Lift the chadoor. You'll find two faces!
11. This is so funny.

12. Anyhow, it's also a mystery...
Robert, America ,   New Jersey, USA   (06.21.12)
...how a hypocrite down under (with whom I'm ashamed to share a name) would use his computer, invented in America, to write his drivel, then send it across the American-invented Internet.

If you stopped selling to Persians Beverly Hills would close down. There is a difference between not selling to an individual in a store and a ban on shipping and exporting goods out of the country. Perhaps Apple does have a legal policy in regard to the latter but the former is a clear violation of US law.
14. Kol Hakavod to the Apple Employee
emanon ,   USA   (06.21.12)
The employee was justified in standing their ground. The potential buyer admitted they were attempting to skirt US export law. And to Avramele in post #13, clothing is NOT on the prohibited export list. I think we should GLADLY accept Iranian money. It also gos to prove how two-faced they are: they demand they enslave poor women by having them wear dishrags for the sake of so called "modesty" while the ultra-rich can wear whatever they feel like wearing. BTW, that's the only ywp classes that exist in Iran: Dirt- poor and ultra-rich. The ultra-rich keep it like that.

"majority of Iranians are Iranian" wow. did you do your thesis in demographics on Iran or something? thanks for telling us the truth.
16. Apple discriminates against Farsi-speakers
David Pinto ,   Montreal, Canada   (06.21.12)
I do hope those Apply employees who are turning away Farsi-speakers because of America's policies on trade with Iran are receiving bonuses from the federal government for doing so.
17. This shouldn't even be in the local paper
slavus   (06.21.12)
It's funny how far afield the propagandists have to look to come up with any story portraying Muslims as victims of evil racist America. When the boss has ordered a certain kind of story, then by golly he shall not be disappointed!
18. Apple discriminates against Farsi-speakers
David Pinto ,   Montreal, Canada   (06.21.12)
The saleswoman, who does not speak Farsi, overheard the woman saying in Farsi that she was going to ship the device to Iran. I would say that that is rather difficult to believe.
19. ANOTHER SLOW NEWS DAY YNET?
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (06.21.12)
20. Justified, but sad
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (06.21.12)
It's in violation of US export law to ship these to Iran. The sad part is that, more than likely, it was going to an anti-regime citizen who didn't drink the kool-aid. Although, I guess if you're buying an Apple product, you drink plenty of kool-aid already!
21. They may have done the right thing
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (06.21.12)
Its against US law to sell to countries that are on the blockaids or embargo list. The employee and the store would have been criminally prosecuted and fined 250000 dollars. If she came in as a American Citizen with passport as a Farsi Speaker no problem but the problem was a Iranian National was with her visa or not the Employee probably did the right action In this case.
22. Sobrero and the rest of you: focus on the facts of the case
avramele   (06.21.12)
once again, there is a difference between the direct exportation of goods out of the country and the sale of material to an individual in the US. No laws I know of require proof of residency or citizenship before a simple retail transaction except perhaps in regard to certain firearms under certain but not all circumstances (gun shows are for example exempted). The Apple policy clearly refers to purchasing and directly shipping to Iran. This is wrong and very silly racial profiling. Some Persian Americans btw are Jews with Persian surnames. Syrian Jews have very common Arab surnames and Ashkenazi Jews have German surnames. Would Mafuz and Yishai be thrown out of American store because they don't look white enough.

What a brilliant statement..,lmao
24. #20: What Do You Have Against Kool Aid?
emanon ,   USA   (06.21.12)
Other than it rots teeth and that image has no relationship to the news article. What are you talking about? I don't get it.
25. #14. Actually...you're wrong
Socius ,   Calgary, Canada   (06.22.12)
Wealth divide between the rich and the poor, as in...what percentage of the wealth is held by what percentage of the people, is far worse in United States than in Iran. I think that's part of the whole economic issue of the country. We have terrible wealth distribution. Even worse than a corrupt country like Iran. And that scares me when I hear the republicans say they want to tax the rich even less if Romney is elected. "trickle down economics" isn't really a thing. It's made up.
26. #14 You should be more ashamed....
Robert ,   Australia   (06.22.12)
...about your country's targetted murders of innocent civilians. Also, do some more research on the invention of computers and the internet. You'll find you are wrong if you read unpropagandised literature.
27. #26 is in response to #12
