In that case you never requested restraint, you favored cutting relations with Turkey's best (only) friend in region. Yesterday Syria shot down a Turkish military plane that was on a routine flight over the Mediterranean. There were two very well trained and educated pilots in it ( I served my military duty in the Turkish Air Force I know). This government (AKP) does not seen to pay the same importance to these two brave pilots as they showed for the 6 people who know what they were getting into. You seem to support Erdogan's duplicity. Well, I hope yo will also enjoy the new Imam Hatip schools that he is opening in Buyukada, the new time slot that he wants to implement to get closer to Arabia. Iran was never a province of the Ottoman Empire. Iran and Ottoman Empire lived in peace for about 700 years and in Turkish high schools they teach (As i am born and educated in Izmir I know) that the Iranian border is the oldest Turkish border that never changed.

It's too late for Erdogan to backtrack he's ditched a reliable partner in Israel which is now firmly aligned with traditional enemies of Turkey like Greece and Cyprus. Moreover according to an Israeli website the downed Turkish plane was upgraded by Israel aircraft industries though the upgrade wasn't completed due to the deterioration in Israeli Turkish ties and without cutting edge technology which Israel has in spades, Turkey’s airforce won’t be able to evade Russia’s latest anti-aircraft missiles. While Israel had no problem blinding Syria’s Russian radars when it bombed it's nuclear plant. Israel has always gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping it’s allies as it did with the Turks so Erdogan is a fool! Now it's time for him to bend over and take his medicine like a man!

david neither israel nor syria is friend of turkey, did you see me suggesting turkey should declare war to israel after she killed nine citizens? so dont ecpect turkey to go to war with syria over a plane which is at fault if it violated syrian air space, turkey can easily defeat syria but why go to war? plus i guess you dont see it the way israel cheered over nine turks was the main reason i changed my mind on that country as well as low chair stunt :) and ther are other pros, turks now invest domestic products which they used to buy from israel :) i understand ur concerns about erdogan but you should concern more about ur own country ;)

Of course as Jew I am concerned about Israel. As an American I am concerned about USA and a person who was born raised educated in Turkey Served in its military I am also concerned about Turkey. I have no fears about the future of USA and Israel. They will always be there strong because these are modern civilized societies that embrace positive sciences over beliefs. i am very concerned about my birthplace Turkey and friends in there since it is in the wrong path.

Ottoman Empire is state of sunni Turks, Safevi state was of şia Turks...(İn fact savevi state was more Turkish than Ottoman)..So two Turkish states lived in peace at the same time..They did not united because if they united at the same roof , they could not prevent mixing different view of İslam..İn 1925, Kaçar Dynasty lost its power..After then İran has been controlled by Persian people..But today in İran, 35 milion Turks are living ..Majority of people are speaking Turkish from border of Turkey to Tahran..Also in Tahran, great majority speak Turkish language...Southern Azerbaycan is in İran..Northern Azerbaijan, you know, is independent state...

Technically they are obligated to help NATO members. But in the real world, NATO is USA. always has been that way. If big brother Obama says he wants to get elected. Iran will also helps fight Turkey. It will be the beginning of world war 3. And not a single nato soldier should help Turkey. Why should NATO help build a sunni caliphate ? it is not wise to prevent shia caliphate just to have a sunni caliphate to replace it. Sunni wahhabi and radical shias are equal in craziness.
