1. This is funny
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.24.12)
Turkey is hosting, funding, arming and supporting militant forces that attack Syria and try to overthrow the Assad government, and now they complain when their airplance gets shot down? Erdogan: you started the war with Syria, don't complain now.
2. A few more
Genesis ,   Johannesburg RSA   (06.24.12)
Can Turkey send a few more planes to get shot down. Seems all our (Israeli) training to help the Turkish air force was in vain! Well as long as they are all killing each other it saves Tzahal the job. Am YISRAEL Chai !!!!!!
3. Where is the call for apology and restitution
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (06.24.12)
Where is the call for apology and restitution and an end to the siege on Syrian civilians? Oh wait, Turkey reserves those responses to Israel when it is stopping armed terrorists from breaching a legal blockade.
4. turkish rationality
nadav ,   tlv   (06.24.12)
why didn't the Turks show the same rational approach in caution with the Mavi marmara incident? Oh, I forgot, fellow Muslims get special consideration from their own kind... typical...
5. Erdogan's hypocrisy
DavidM ,   USA   (06.24.12)
Mr. Erdogan's timid reaction to the downing of a Turkish plane by Assad's forces shows his hypocrisy. He has not threatened retaliation, demanded reparations and apologies, or an international tribunal. We now know that his "anger" against Israel when an armed Turkish ship was inspected was insincere and a publicity stunt. Mr. Erdogan owes an apology to Israel.
6. Turkey: A dog that only barks
Daniel ,   Netherlands   (06.24.12)
A dog that barks but does not bite ...in fact has rabies... is this the so-powerful country that so bravely attacks Kurdish civilians but fails to protect their own military? In 2007 Israeli aircraft flew over Assad palace undisturbed.. and a Turkish aircraft goes down on international water???? Turkish clowns
7. Nothing will happen. Erdogan is a loudmouth.
Iranian Hunter   (06.24.12)
8. What Erdogan is trying
mara ,   Vienna   (06.24.12)
with this selfinitiated showoff is to draw NATO and the West into her own conflicts and her inability to solve them after her "zero problem" policy has failed thouroughly. I hope dearly that nobody falls for it!
9. Hey, Turk(ies)y: If you're that upset:
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.24.12)
Do something about it! I doubt it
10. Another war?
Bad Ased Jew ,   United States   (06.24.12)
I hope they alone knock each others brains out, neither of these nations has an ounce of brains between them. Hope Erdogen 'demands' an apology as he does from Israel LOL ( like that's gonna happen) and, of course monetary compensation. HAte to gloat but, "The Lord works in mysterious ways."
11. Iran is ready for war
Ahmed Reza ,   Tehran   (06.24.12)
Iran is ready for war, the Western Imperialists are asking for impossible conditions. Iran shall not dance to the tune of American-Zionist thugs any more. Iran will not be forced like a slave into doing things according to whims & fancies of Western-Zionists criminals.
12. If turks do not respond...
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (06.24.12)
...they are not real men and muslims. Their honor demands a harsh response against the alawi kuffar zionists. LOL
13. Ahmed No 11
ray stuart ,   Zürich /Israel   (06.24.12)
Sound like you swallowed a propoganda text book!!!!!!!!!!!!
14. Iran's hypocrisy on full display
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.24.12)
Does anyone really doubt that Iran was behind the shooting down of the Turkish plane? And here they come, urging "restraint." Someone really needs to put Iran in restraints. Of the fatal variety.
15. #11
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (06.24.12)
Thanks for the comic relief, Iranian bozo.
16. what are you people talking about?!
Serdar ,   Helsinki Finland   (06.24.12)
Read the comments "dogs, hypocrites, barking"... Don't you see that it's a very well planned event by NATO? And no one is "barking" at the moment. Unlike some of you say "why Turks dont demand apology", here you go, PM already demanded an apology from Syria. The way of you Israelis following the current events just "sucky sucky"..
17. Turkey had to blame itself !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (06.24.12)
I Quote - "You have to first send a caution, a warning… If the warning doesn't work, you scramble your planes, you send a stronger signal, you force the plane to land. There wasn't enough time to do any of that in the time that our plane was in Syrian airspace. Comment - First - How do you know that no warning was given ? Secondly - All the airforces of Syria is Grounded. Thirdly - If the Plane was in Syrian airspace and a Robot is shot at it, the Robot will follow after the plane even if it deflects out on international Airspace. Arn.Sweden.
18. Reza's worst nightmare
X'   (06.24.12)
The real criminals and thugs are the islamo-nazi regime in Tehran and it's stupid brainwashed genocidal supporters like yourself. Crawl back under your rock. We are nor interested in your delusions moron.
19. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.24.12)
Oh, goodie. Better put your affairs in order. Oh, wait! Don't bother. There won't be anything left in Iran, save for a large glowing cinder where the Islamofascist republic used to be. Good bye.
20. #11 fool
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.24.12)
This has nothing to do with Israel. The Saudis want to kill you and take your oil because you are Persian and Shia. They are too smart to fight themselves, so they send Turks to die with American support.
21. Hope the pilots can be found and still alive
Avner ,   Tel Aviv   (06.24.12)
The situation doesn't seem good, but pilots can survive several days out at sea, since they have flotation devices. Hopefully they can be found, if they were able to eject on time. As for the political situation, the story is not clear yet, whether it was in Syrian or in international air-space. The Syrians may have thought it was a defecting air-plane.
22. Does anyone know...
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.24.12)
if it is ‘typical’ of countries to violate each others’ air space in that part of the world? Given that an airplane that old was probably on a spy mission, it smacks of the Marmara situation. Turkey sends a provocation and then complains when it is caught and spanked.
23. #17. Arn, what if a Russian anti-aircraft missile
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.24.12)
brought it down, fired by Russians presently in Syria and with the full blessings of the mullahs in Tehran??? Erdogan will do nothing except blow some hot air because he does not have the testicular fortitude to do a damn thing, except pretend he is doing something. He is "brave" only when it involves Israel because he knows that Israel will scurry to apologize and placate, and that Obama and Hillarious Clinton will apply the whip only on Israel. Erdogan knows who he can bully and who are soft targets. In the scheme of things, with Russia overtly joining the axis of evil to protect Assad, Turkey is now a soft target. Erdogan will be humbled and like a beaten dog, will go away with his tail between his legs.
24. Syria retaliated for their pilot defecting
Yakov ,   Teaneck, NJ, USA   (06.24.12)
Syria retaliated for their pilot defecting with a MiG, probably with Western help. They shot the plane down with no respect for any normal international procedures. Syria is aiding and protecting Hezbollah, which threatens thousands of missiles on Israel if Israel attacks Iran. The fall of Syria would break the Syria-Iran-Hezy axis that threatens proxy attacks on Israel if Israel takes care of business by cleaning out the Iranian outhouse. But. Did you ever consider it from Assad's perspective? Slaughtering thousands of people is hard work. How he's suffering! Why are all those what-are-they-doing-there ugly civilians getting blood on Assad's bombs for? Was that very nice? Hey. If you were busy strangling somebody, wouldn't YOU get mad if someone was getting on YOUR case? Save Assad! Save the morally handicapped! Leave Assad aloooooooone!
25. 11, 16 and 21
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (06.24.12)
#11 We are not waiting the "6 months old Imam mahdi from water well" and we trust our sisters and daughters when they wear very short Jean shorts and flip filops (u cant imagine) They have enough honor, physical strength, balls against "unexisting" im(moral) street check-up so-called women killer authorities. We are always 7/24 ready against terrorist dirty bannerbearer primitive savages. At the moment we are supplying innocent Syrian Sunni kids with highly lethal weapons against the hiding son of ....in the city of Damascus. #16 You are very close to the border of 2nd biggest city of the most physically immoral nation cheap as fake Louis Vuitton bag and pair of shoes. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Channel tours are waiting for you Serdar. #21 Dear Avner, Thanks for your kind comment. If I have to believe tv channel of "Russia Today" first they have admit that unarmed young pilots have been captured. Later to status-unknown! I afraid they have been captured. For blocking future potantial Syrian refugee pilots or in the name of hiding and running away political pressure, these animals can do everything.
26. Ba!ha!ha!ha!-" Defaulet on international norms"!
Bartley Kulp ,   Haifa - Israel   (06.24.12)
Looks like someone has discovered that Syria is abnormal!!
27. at Solomon
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (06.24.12)
It is not an everyday occurrence, but it does happen, yes. We in Western Europe occassionally have Russian military craft violating our airspace as well. Jets get scrambled and then they are seen off. It's just muscle showing, making a statement. The Turks have a history with that as well.
28. Poor Turks, allways victimized
Ze'ev ,   USA   (06.24.12)
The poor turkeys, everyone abuses them. If it isn't the Israelis, its the Syrians, or the Greeks, or the Kurds, or the Armenians... A nation of victims, no wonder they whine all the time.
29. Serdar from Helsinki
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (06.24.12)
I am following the news in the Turkish media in Turkish language. Ne de olsa eski izmirliyim. I can assure you that the raktion from the AKP and the people in the street is very much different then the reaction that they showed for the Mavi Marmara. It has been 3 days and so far the government is only talking about restraint (which is the right thing but it would have been the right thing for the Mavi marmara also which was not the case) and so far not one demonstration in Taksim, Tandogan or Gundogdu by the people. Readers can come to their conclusions based on these facts.

sipahi ,   ıstanbul   (06.24.12)
A correction: It was IAF whose pilots got training in Turkey.
