1. hitler was also elected in a 'free, democratic' election
Ed Rapaport ,   boston mass   (06.25.12)
look how well that went...
2. I nominate him as Biggest Liar in Egypt. Time will tell.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.25.12)
3. Hoping Israel won't delude itself-
Calif. Jew ,   USA   (06.25.12)
Anybody who believes what this jerk is saying about upholding the Treaty is not a fool, but a moron. This movement has waited for over 80 yrs to take power. They are a fundamentalist islamic group and they now own Egypt and its US trained and supplied military. Gen. Suleiman has left for Germany-he knows what's coming. Sinai will return to the 1950's and terror will be worse.
4. Bunnie sit down, Morsi hears the US money pouring in!
(06.25.12)
He'll hold the agreements for the money honey!
5. plenty of history happening but its all USA manipulated...
Winston ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
but don't take my word for it...go back and study the history of the Islamic Brotherhood...follow the money...the Islamic Brotherhood in Egypt has always been funded by the USA via the CIA. I wouldn't be surprised if Morsi was groomed for the job by the CIA.
6. Obama leaps with joy, immidiately give 1.5 billion dollars
Iranian Hunter   (06.25.12)
Hillarious Clinton cries with tears of joy. Jimmy Carter screams "finally someone that is worse than me". Ashton faints, admits overdosed with joy. Dagan says Egypt will keep peace and Iran will not be nuclear. This world is a joke.
7. Commendable
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (06.25.12)
It is most commendable that Egypt will uphold its international commitments. However, that would not include the Sadat sellout, given that Sadat made an agreement with an illegally existing political entity and his venal successor saw fit, for reasons I cannot fathom, to keep it in force. Now, thankfully, that agreement will be abrogated.
8. I wonder what the copts are doing now in Egypt, probably
Iranian Hunter   (06.25.12)
praying. Since that is what they can do. Sigh, first thing they will do is celebrate, then they will need to find scapegoat for not being able to fix their problem. It's either the copts that supports Shafiq, or the military itself or Israel. USA in the end, is the one that controls the flow of history, if they don't give Egypt money, MB will literally collapsed in this year.
9. Ok, who here wants to bet MB will be ally of Iran ?
Iranian Hunter   (06.25.12)
10. We'll uphold int'l agreements for now....
morsi ,   Egypt, @ Gaza border   (06.25.12)
Correction:"We'll uphold int'l agreements, for now. then you will see the real....."
11. Obama is a happy-camper!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.25.12)
His Muslim Brotherhood brothers' won!
12. Takkiya - for the infidels
(06.25.12)
13. Catherine Ashton is anti-Semitic
Amos T   (06.25.12)
Catherine Ashton is anti-Semitic and pro-Hamas. She is well known for being friendly to radical Islamic preachers & making frequent statements against Israel. Its obvious that she is helping Iran (in collusion with Obama & the Europeans) by extending the talks indefinitely. Already 3 rounds of talks over with many months wasted. Next coming up are "expert-level talks", then "deputy-level talks" then more "P5.1 talks". This enables Iran to continue their nuclear work easily and rapidly. Its time this charade is trashed and Israel acts independently for their own safety & survival.
14. Morsi knows his rewards and puishment.
Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (06.25.12)
Morsi understands that he would lose the annual $1.5 billion gift and could suffer the defeat of his forces if he were to renounce the peace treaty with Israel, send large numbers of military forces into the Sinai and declare a state of war with the Jewish State. Israeli nuclear weapons can make short work of these Islamists.
15. Obama tried to install el Baradei but there was a hue & cry.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.25.12)
So he made a switch to Morsi. Both are MB so no problem. He can keep the money flowing to Egypt through Morsi as he expects less or no objection. He can pass Morsi off as a "moderate", but he is just a front man as the MB will call the shots. The MB won big time. It gets legitimacy, a huge country, Yankee dollars, power in the region and "respect" from the intenational community. Not bad for a terrorist organisation - all made possible by Obama.
16. Morsi, president
realist ,   us   (06.25.12)
What about what he just said about if he won, he would make Jerusalem the capital of Egypt. I hope Israel remembers...
17. MB >>> I-ran >>> Obama
Armand ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.25.12)
Give these GOUMBAS another few weeks/months and you will witness the '' Islamic savoir faire '' at its best. Egypt will ally with I-ran,....and the Copts had better learn to fight and FAST! Maybe the Sinai should be a new country in the midle east,....COPTLAND anyone???? The show is about to start,......
18. Another wack job to keep obama company
Ezra ,   SanDiego USA   (06.25.12)
19. A muslim promise......?
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (06.25.12)
20. he might uphold peace - for a while anyway
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (06.25.12)
As number one wrote: Hitler was also elected in a democratic election, but shortly made Germany a fascistic state. Here we can soon see an Islamic state and then the problems will begin to compound.
21. A sad day for Egyptian women.
naro ,   ny   (06.25.12)
Egyptian women will be repressed and disenfranchised by the Islamist. They will be under constant threats and intimidation. They are in deep trouble thanks to Obama.
22. They had freedom to vote in a government of Theocratic
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (06.25.12)
idiots.....who have just taken all their Freedoms....Away. Democracy...gives idiots the right to vote themselves into being religious nuts...and religious slaves followed around by George Orwells Novel 1984. This new leader...will bring only terrorism and death to anyone who doesn't follow his little theocratic party line. The peace treaty just got thrown out the window with Israel and the rest of the world. Obama and Hillary Clinton were frothing at the mouth congratulating this jerk for winning. They are not looking out for our interest in the United States.....anymore than they are looking out for Israels interests anymore. Obama makes Jimmy Carter look good.
23. dont fear the muslims! fear not making peace with the
abdalla   (06.25.12)
Palestinians
24. Free Elections
Leon ,   USA   (06.25.12)
Now that Morsi won, first free elections in 7000 years, when do you think the next "free" election will be held? Now that the MB is in power, let's say 5,000 years for the next election. Keep the military in power and watch over the MB.
25. Most TBs here express: 1. lack of knowledge & 2. Fear
(06.25.12)
why is that? Is it because all y'all think that Democracy is fine only if it is E-X-A-C-T-L-Y your kind of Democracy? People go get informed before making your typical knee jerk and ridiculous comments!
26. #7: you got a lot of "hutzpah"
(06.25.12)
That "illegally existing political entity" gave Egypt back all of the Sinai, which they would otherwise never get. The usual game - The Arabs start wars and when they lose territory they come crying that they want peace and their territory back, and when have it back they forget they signed peace treaties. What an honorable conduct..
27. Anything that makes Israelis sleep easily at night
Steven Carroll   (06.25.12)
Has got to be a good thing
28. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.25.12)
If the 1979 treaty is abrogated (and in some respects it actually already has been abogated), the Sinai reverts to Israel and Egypt goes bye-bye. Imagine an Egypt without the Aswan dam. Not pretty, eh? Still, all those crocodiles in the Nile have to eat, right?
29. Walking like an Egyptian
Ibrahim ,   Lala Land   (06.25.12)
It is funny to ready all your comments :) The muslim brotherhood is here fellas... Don't you all ask for Democracy here you go... Just to let you know if it is up to all arab nation to freely elect, trust me you will be living in a middle of an islamic empire...
30. @28 let's have a little think (little is all u can manage)
Anastasia ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
if we end up with the Sinai again then we end up with: 1. Bedouin tribes trafficking in drugs and humans 2. The Sudanese, Eriteraneans and all other Africans will just walk in and sit down. and if 2 above happens guess what? Then because Israel is controlling the Sinai, Israel becomes the country of first landing for the migrants and you do remember what that means? So no really thank you let the Egyptians keep the Sinai! Heavens be praised if we could also give them Gaza! But you know Sarah, the Egyptians are smarter than you, they have always rejected receiving Gaza...do you understand why?
