1. A loaf of bread costs $4.00 dollar for WonderBread
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (06.28.12)
These guys would be totally out of luck in the United States. Things might get bad here...but I would never start following a cult of religious idiots to make up for it.
2. This poverty = radicalism, are propaganda from Harvard, ....
Iranian Hunter   (06.28.12)
Oxford, and many other arab funded western medias and universities and schools. It is false, it is wrong, it is propaganda, it is being repeated, and therefore brainwashing. Osama Bin Laden is so rich, money is pouring right from his ears, his son Omar Bin Laden is also still very very rich. The ayatollah of Iran are rich, Saladin is rich, Mohammad is rich, Hussein is rich, Yazid is rich, Muawiyah is rich. Stop repeating the brainwashing propaganda.
3. No More American Aid Or Wheat

4. Initial factors differing, end results quite similar
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (06.28.12)
The popular protests against authoritarian rule in Iran in 1978-79 involved many elements of society, including secular leftists and Marxists, but all were in turn defeated when the Islamists took power. In Egypt too many elements including secular liberals were involved in the protests, but Egypt was not as developed (or secular) as Iran, and the Islamists have once again taken over (this time "democratically"). Iran in the 1970s had a more diverse and developed economy than today's Egypt. Those connected to the Shah's family did well, but so did many others. The Jews and Bahais were given free rein to prosper, and many did. But today much of Iran's economy is in the hands of the IRGC - the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. The regime change that will come one day will have to deal with that.

7. #5 orly

Field Marshall Tantawi is the head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, the defense minister and the commander of the armed forces. He headed the military government after Mubarak was overthrown (by the same military government) until the elections. He has been in the news for decades. You have a lot of reading to catch up on.
8. the army is in the hotel business
zionist forever   (06.30.12)
The Egyptian government needs to study exactly what assets the army holds and then decide which ones are appropriate for an ARMY and which ones should be sold off and the profits given over to the state. Mineral water production, oil companies and hotels have no place in the hands of the army.
