1. 80 percent what a joke
Jack   (06.27.12)
According to the most recent demographic studies the Conservative has lost over a third of their membership. Temples are closing all over the US. The barely represent 20% of American Jews. They don't even exist in Europe, Australia etc.
2. 80% ???
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (06.27.12)
80% of Israeli Jews do not support Conservative Judaism, and the subject involves Conservatives in Israel only. The way Rabbi Amar speaks of Reform/Conservative echoes the words of Gedolei HaDoros of earlier generations, including spiritual giants like Rav Elchanon Wasserman who blamed the Holocaust partly on the rise of Reform/ Conservative 'streams'. Rabbi Amar is restating the status quo that dates back to David Ben Gurion and the Chazon Ish.
3. RABBI AMAR IS RIGHT! Any shmoe could claim he/she is a rabbi
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.27.12)
If he does not have orthodox rabbinical ordination he's a rabbit NOT a Rabbi.
4. It is unacceptable that the observant community’s tax funds
(06.27.12)
in the Jewish state go in part to pay for foolishness and heresy
5. Delusional Rabbis should be disqualified
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (06.27.12)
Rabbis often start to believe that the semiha they get is more than the mere diploma they get passing out at certain establishments. Many would be disqualified for lack of morality, worship of Mamon, and breaches of Mosaic laws, had they still been under the jurisdiction of the Babylonian Gaonim. The Lousy shepherds that Zackharia spoke about
6. No. 4
NYC Girl   (06.27.12)
What's even more unacceptable is for all those secular Israelis to have to pay for parasitic religious fanatics who contribute nothing to the State.
7. #3 Chaim and Amar are WRONG!
Carl ,   USA   (06.27.12)
Six years or so of rabbinical studies at a recogonized seminary is not "claiming" the title of rabbi. It is earned, much more so than many "ma and pa" orthodox yeshivas that grant "smicha" for simply showing up. I know many people who claim the title of "rabbi" with no legitimate studies in an actual seminary. So how about all you supposedly observent Jews watching your lashon hara aganst fellow Jews?
8. can people who reject the Torah be 'rabbis'?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (06.27.12)
The conservative and deformed movement reject the Torah and some even reject G-d. How can a bunch of Jewish denying idiots be called rabbi? It seems to me that Rabbi Amar is correct to reject them since they have disgraced the Jewish nation and perverted the simple Jewish mind into believing that there can be a Rabbi who rejects the core of that which is Jewish: the Torah!
9. "conservative" and "reform" aren't Judaism at all...
2Mad ,   ירושלים, ארץ ישראל   (06.27.12)
...as they disregard the very basic requirements. They should find them some better names, such as "merry vatican" or "sexy islam", something that suits them.
10. Can I complain to the Police
Sane ,   Manchester England   (06.27.12)
As these people have by calling their pseudo-religion made a mockery of Judaism.
11. #4 &#10 How about the Christians & Moslem supporitng judaism
John ,   USA   (06.27.12)
12. Where oh where
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.27.12)
are Ynet's proof readers? "...proves once against ..."
13. Really??!!
Jaia Sara ,   Israel,heaven   (06.27.12)
So they should also sue me, my familya, my husband family, and obviously, my husband. Most of Us, religious jews, who saw and see everyday the venom that this so called "reformist/conservative rabbis" spread where ever they go, how they lie to people about what it's true and what is not,how the continue to get jews in to ignorance about their faith and tradition, think that they shouldn't get founds, because can't be that a person gets pay for the nice job of lying to others!!So yes, sue me also, I think all what Rabbi Amar shlita said is completely true,if he said that and this is not another invention ;)
14. Reply to number 7 seminaries
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (06.27.12)
You are quite correct that the title 'Rabbi' is overused in Orthodox circles and has been thereby devalue, which is why we tend to call a mora' d'asra 'Rav' rather than 'Rabbi'. Reform rabbis may spend six years in a recognised seminary, but to us Orthodox their studies are largely academic and when Commentary did a study of American rabbis some years back, about 40% of Reform rabbis did not believe in a personal G-D.
15. #13 Venom ?
Ed ,   Phila. PA   (06.28.12)
The venom is coming from one source and one source only. The orthodox establishment and their supporters. Reform and Conservative American Jews shouldn't contribute another nickel to Israel until they're treated as equals.
16. Why would anyone want to trample Torah?
Michael ,   California, USA   (06.28.12)
It's an interesting book to show to children with some illustrations. Why would a conservative rabbi trample it? Why would anybody read it?
17. Conservatives Rabbi's demand arrest of apostates
Mordechai   (06.28.12)
The article headline should be Conservative Rabbi's demand arrest of apostates. Thats essentially what they are asking for when they file criminal complaints against Rabbi Amar for opposing their religious beliefs. Its a dangerous road to attack free speech. Given that the Orthodox population will one day be the majority its quite possible Rabbi Sharon will end up in jail for criticising the Orthodox one day.
18. Reb Shlomo Amar is correct and you should obey or else!
The Great Khan ,   Kandahar,Afghanistan   (06.29.12)
19. #18 Or else... what??
Leah ,   Israel   (06.30.12)
There is always something wrong with any group of people, whether it's religious, political, or social, insisting they are right, and their way is the only way. If the Orthodox are so right, how come 80% of Israeli Jews are secular?
