1. The media sets higher standards to others never to itself
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (06.27.12)
We were wrong is not the same as proper analysis. This is not the first time the BBC has been found to be lacking. The problem is that Journalist are very good at finding faults with others and expect a high standard which they never try and achieve themselves. Root cause analysis, independent investigation, etc - nothing like that would come out of the repeated failings of the BBC.
2. what?!
chaim witz   (06.27.12)
BBC, go to hell! These apologies were planned in advance (Let's make no coverage whatsoever, and then a year later we apologyse).
3. Some Jews did not get enough coverage
now demand apology   (06.27.12)
How typical...
4. Mensch was pleased??? All Thompson said was:
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.27.12)
"We made a mistake in this instance." So really, it is Ha! Ha! and Bye! Bye! Does that merit the headline "BBC apologizes"? Exactly where is the apology? Is it still forming in his throat and he is having problems expelling it? Ynet calls that an apology, I call that stretching the imagination or even delusion.
5. The Fogel family murderers
William Bolton ,   Woodstock GA USA   (06.27.12)
The sentences are too easy. They should be given to me for instruction in skydiving using my new HANO system.
6. B.S excuse
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.27.12)
I bet the BBC covered Gaza news on that day and immediately following the Itamar massacre. The bias is obvious and many British personalities don't even try to hide it anymore.
7. BBC ought to apologize for decades of anti-Israel
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (06.27.12)
coverage of events in the region in general and the Arab Israeli conflict, local and regional alike.
8. BBC Also admitts they got "overexcited"reporting the spring
PETER SM ,   JERUSALEM ISRAEL   (06.27.12)
2. An internal BBC report slams its Arab Spring coverage. The Daily Mail writes of David Mortimer’s report: Head of news Helen Boaden admitted that her journalists got carried away with events and produced ‘over-excited’ reports. She told a BBC Trust report that in Libya, where reporters were ‘embedded’ with rebels, they may have failed to explore both sides of the story properly. Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen was among those criticised in the study into coverage of the uprisings, which found that ‘excitement’ did sometimes ‘infect’ the reporting, which some viewers described as ‘too emotive’ and ‘veering into opinion’. Unlike the Balen report, the full Mortimer report’s  available at the BBC Trust.
9. im sure it wouldnt have been the same if an israeli where to
bob   (06.27.12)

10. Thanks Louise Mensch!
(06.27.12)
11. Regardless I'm still drawn to BBC for news
Alona   (06.27.12)
12. under pressure?! what a sack of BS!
STEPHAN YAFFO ,   TEL AVIV   (06.27.12)
13. One apology does not erase bbc's antisemitic character
Moshe ,   Usa   (06.27.12)
14. This matters because it is part of a strong pattern
Zvi   (06.27.12)
If it were not part of a pattern, it would not matter very much. The problem is that the BBC * consistently fails to humanize innocent Israelis who are murdered by terrorists, often not providing names, faces, information about them * consistently makes strong efforts to humanize the murderers who killed them and to transmit the excuses and propaganda of those murderers * consistently frames every political/security news story about Israel in terms that are based entirely on the anti-Israel narrative, frequently including as boilerplate claims that are entirely one-sided * usually fails to include Israeli points of view * immediately distrusts Israeli spokesmen's claims, despite the record of caution on the part of Israeli spokesmen * nearly always trusts Hamas claims, despite the egregious record of lying on their part * almost never includes news about the near-daily rain of rockets aimed at Israeli civilians, only providing news when Israel responds (and then blaming Israel for the response).
15. The BBC is CONSISTANT, arabs are victims, jews are bad.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.27.12)
The BBC NEVER shows an HONEST side of the Jews, if they do something good it is ignored and if they can slant anything to make it look as if Jews are horrid oppressors, that is the way they craft the news. The BBC does not reflect the truth of the situation in Israel or the decency of the Jews.
16. Yeah yeah yeah, excuses, excuses, excuses...
Ami ,   Chicago   (06.27.12)
What does it help now, more than a year later? Why, would the Brits suddenly be exposed to the horrific massacre of an Israeli family, father, mother, children and babies too? No.... The BBC, just like most of the London media, is anti-Israeli in its core. We still remember ten years ago when the London printed media (except the Telegraph) was screaming "Israel massacres 500 palestinian civilians in the West Bank city of Jenin" which was a hoax produced by the very talented (and well-financed) Palestinian propaganda machine. By the time it turned out to be a hoax, weeks later — the DAMAGE was already done.
17. BBC synonymous with prejudice
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.27.12)
Has been that way for over 60 years, and this is the first time they have ever apologized for their outright racism.
18. apology or excuse?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (06.27.12)
The BBC and British government have been known for their pro-Arab stance for many many years. They have gone beyond exageration to present Arab suffering as Israeli cruelness, yet ignore the fact that the Arabs have been the aggressors in all conflicts and claim to be the victims. This 'apology' is good on paper, but I have my doubts as to the honesty and integrity of the British press and of the British government.
19. It has never happened
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (06.27.12)
that a settler has entered the home of a Pal and killed people. I dont think it ever will. We all know the BBCs bias. I dont watch it anymore.
20. The BBC's apology
joe ,   uk   (06.27.12)
if it was plastinians it would have been head lines bbc should change or make sure the people who cover and reports from israel be REALY unbiased when rockets are fired from gaza bbc first writes about palistinians who is killed or injured and at the end of the comment they say idf say it is response to the rockets which bbc should begin in response to the rockets etc
21. Stabbed to death?
Margie ,   Israel   (06.27.12)
Please get the details right. It was a great deal more brutish and gruesome than that. Whose feelings are you sparing, those of the BBC?
22. What is happening to the BBC
Emma ,   Arab Occupied London   (06.27.12)
Have they at last seen the errors of their ways? The other day, reporting on the Israeli action in Gaza they said that it was in response to rockets fired into residential areas in Israel by Hamas. The first time I have ever heard them mention there is a reason for Israeli actions. However, as long as that dreadful Jeremy Bowen is head of Middle East news, it is too much to hope for real change.
23. BBC is ANTI-ISRAELI and even last week report on rockets was
Netanya ,   Netanya   (06.27.12)
on about the rockets, but about the deaths of "Palestinians" regardless of if they are terrorists or not they use titles, such as "IDF Attacks Gaza and Kills Little Children" Later in the story it may be mentioned that it was in response to rocket fire, always hidden in the text, if mentioned at all. And if children are involved, there is no mention of them being used by terrorists as human shields. I stopped watching BBC a long time ago, since their "news" is nothing but anti-Israeli rhetoric.
24. BBC apology : Meaningless words and
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.27.12)
never meant. The BBC will continue it's lies and the damage has long been done and the BBC knows it.Such words is for their convenience only
25. BBC= British Biaised Corporation
ralph ,   Caesarea   (06.27.12)
26. We should believe the BBC when it releases the secret...
Scott ,   USA   (06.27.12)
Balen Report.
27. BBC Got it Wrong - Again
Marion Stone ,   Modi'in, Israel   (06.27.12)
I prefer that the BBC and similar broadcasters don't mention Israel at all. They almost always get it wrong, and negatively influence world opinion about Israel
28. #6: No 'I bets...'
jerusalem   (06.27.12)
Either you supply proof of what you say, or you keep your assumptions to yourself.
29. BBC apologizes
joe ,   uk   (06.27.12)
By not reporting at the time it proves bbc dont care about jewish people murdered by palistinians and to apologize after such a long time too little too late lets see how will futre reporting will be
30. No time for the truth
Reuven36 ,   Herzliya Israel   (06.27.12)
Not only did the BBC not have time on the day - they did not have time for a whole year to reveal the truth. What a sham!
