Iron Dome was only going to be effective against dumb missiles such as Kayushas and Qassems. Add a gizmo to track radar and some form of maenouverability Iron DOme whilst seeking out the missile creates a signal the missile tracks down. Iron Dome was never going to be a long term solution. Gen. Hossein Salami is mistaken when he says that Iran will "win" a war with Israel and the West. If any war breaks out whoever the “winner” is it may be a pyrrhic victory. If G-d forbid, a regional war was to break out Israel would be able to defend itself, allies or not. However any “genius” strategists out there who are currently doing the math and deciding that a little war is justified and it is ok if 1,000 Israelis, 10,000 American servicemen and 1,000,000 Iranians die are actually extreme dunces. iran has done a reasonably good job copying russian and korean rockets, presumably to circumvent various arms embargoes. but even if they can copy an anti-radiation missile, there is no reason to expect that the iron dome radar will not be able to detect and track it, since it is even able to track mortars, which are smaller. and if the iron dome system can shoot down qassams, it should be ale to intercept these rockets just as well. but i wouldn't be surprised to see iron dome batteries add on a few "phalanx"-type gatling guns for close-in protection. (highly effective, and cheaper than the anti-radiation missiles they're protecting against.) as for the launchers, they will have to be single-use, since the iaf has been successfully attacking rocket launchers and crews in gaza. but these launchers need to be more than just a steel rod stuck in the sand, and their cost, and the expense of smuggling them into gaza, will shift the balance a little more in israel's favour. all in all, this seems to be yet more foolish boasting from iran, intended just to bolster the sagging morale of the iranians.
