1. It would be nice to see efforts focused on improving Israel
Henry from New York ,   Currently in Israel   (07.01.12)
You know I only found out two weeks ago that there has been a project to rebuild the Jezrael Valley railroad since 24 years back. They say it will be done in 2016 (after starting in earnest this year). I doubt it will be finished before 2030 if the government is focused on things like what protesters are up to. It's time to get serious about focusing efforts on improving the rest of the country. I come to Afula and it's a ghost town. This whole area is a backwater and could be so much more if it had better infrastructure. There's many other places that could do with more investment like the Northern Galilee. Give some attention to the rest of the country for once, not just Tel Aviv, and not this nonsense.
2. oh 4 goodness sakes...the bro is ALWAYS watching
(07.01.12)
Israel has one of the world's most modern and efficient servalence systems.... just look up at every street corner and you'll c the cameras.
3. Very Interesting
grodd ,   USA   (07.01.12)
It looks like the police want to identify everyone on the New Israel Fund payroll before it's shut down.
4. perfect tool. demonstrators and police must behave or be cau
ralph   (07.01.12)
caught. why atre leftist childish protestors against it? because they want to break the law, cause disturbance. this is perfect tool. they should be happy it will be used. they can now say police will also be watched. so what is their argument except that they want to cause destruction without consequences. to bad.
5. perfect tool to be used. stupid arguments by shallow writer.

6. If you think this is bad visit the UK.
Nick ,   Karmiel, Israel.   (07.01.12)
The UK has around 20% of the worlds CCTV cameras, that's around 1 camera for every 14 people. The average UK citizen is recorded on camera around 300 times a day! (And this is based on data that is several years old). Seriously, life is so much more relaxed and easy going here in Israel compared to the paranoid Orwellian state that is the UK.
7. #6 UK IS THE WORST
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (07.01.12)
Israel is relaxed compared to the paranoid U.K and folk should just let the israel police just do their jobs.
8. Read, visual intimidation ,...
split ,   US   (07.01.12)
9. Right wing spying on left wing, to sabotage left's agenda
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (07.02.12)
Happens everywhere, in the US, Russia, Latin America, China.
10. civil demonstrations are organized by questionables
ma nishma ,   modiin   (07.02.12)
many times protests are organized by groups that have agendas such as over throwing the government, destroying Israel, hurting a politician. If they use protests for their agenda, why not get the dirt on them?
11. People pay attention!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.02.12)
This is just one more example of the dictatorship of the political right. Israel is in danger, can you not see it?
12. to #1 Henry which Afula are you writing
jason white ,   afula, israel   (07.02.12)
about? We have over 35,000 citizens and contractors are building thousands more apartments. We have more people walking around Afula at midnight than you walking around Brooklyn at the same time. This is not a "ghost town"! Next you will write that you saw tumble weeds rolling down our main streets.
13. Why is daffy worried about how the I.D.F.
jason white ,   afula, israel   (07.02.12)
spends it's money? They should use it to jail draft dodgers like daffy. If someone has not served honorably in the I.D.F., then he or she has no right to protest.
14. #12
Henry from New York ,   USA   (07.02.12)
Granted I was last there on Shabbat, but 35.000 people isn't a lot I'm afraid. It is also a very run-down place by its appearance. It needs to be revitalised. I'm not from Brooklyn, I am from Manhattan. Not all Jews in New York are from Brooklyn, just a fair number.
15. #9 - Russia, LA, and China are hardly "right wing"
William ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
They built their entire foundation on Leftist ideals that result in the oppression of many and the subsequent installation of despots into power. Show me where the Right-wing agenda (market driven economies, global trade, personal responsibility) are rampant in places which you've mentioned? And what exactly is the "left-wing agenda"? Well, simply put - a movement towards a bloated govt coddling its population, from cradle to grave, and massive penalties for those who succeed personally, with the sole purpose to "tear down the existing establishment" whether it works well or not. I see there is a tremendous value in thwarting the selfish, misguided Leftist agenda which has, in history, been the biggest supporter of despots and catalyst for the most deaths of civilians globally.
16. #11 - no I don't because it's not there
William ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
What IS in danger is the freedom for tirades and anarchist demands, at-will, without concern for anyone else and answerable to questionable foreign elements, by the Left. Yes, the party is soon coming to a close for the Left who took advantage of Israel's democracy to both hurt the Institution and put the population in harm's way, while alienating specific groups that Leftists do not like. The population spoke at the ballot box and threw you OUT. Regardless of who is in power, the rights and security of those who DO NOT participate nor even agree with, your agenda and protests, must be protected. Or are your ilk against such a democracy where those who disagree with you have rights?
17. #13 - people who commit no crime...
William ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
are not usually worried about police presence or their own actions being questioned. Perhaps Daffy is feeling a bit of personal guilt.
18. #14 - run down by whose standards??
William ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
If you're coming from Mahattan, everything in Israel except a few places in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem will look run-down to you. I can't imagine what your thoughts would be of Beer Sheva or even Rehovot from your "guilded towers" of central NYC. Really - are you that self-centered (personally, I mean. I already know most New Yorkers believe they are the center of the universe, nationally and globally).
