1. Concentrate on USA
yoni ,   shomron   (07.10.12)
send them to rich america, to teach the Jews about making aliyah! this will be more profitable for them and Israel! and if we're at it, how about finding 52 ideologically powerful and inspirational Jews who made aliyah from america, mostly from Judea and Samaria, and religious, to do 'milueem' (reserve duty) for the State of Israel, one week out of the year, in Jewish/Zionist communities, to encourage aliyah and teach people about ISRAEL!
2. #1 Yoni, Those who want to know in the U.S. know a lot.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.10.12)
You'd be surprised how much is known in America about Israel. But it does not create much desire for aliyah. Read the talkbacks here from Americans who did aliyah and convince yourself they are very different from the mainstream "American Jew." You see, the mainstream American Jew sees clearly what Israel is about.
3. #1 & #2
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (07.11.12)
I agree with both of you, but #2 I agree with for a different reason than implied. "Knowing what Israel is all about" in my context concerns politics & taxation. I'd love to make aliyah, but there's no way I will. The roadblocks for me are - rampant nepotism & age discrimination, reduced salary (I'd make about half what I make in the US), extreme taxation (more than double what I pay in US), corrupt politicians, & Jewish sects battling each other. All for what? So I can live in the land of our ancestors in squalor? In my opinion, the advancements of the Zionist dream have been usurped by corruption & self-indulgence. I'd love to live in Israel & feel drawn to it every time I visit, but I refuse to put my fate in the hands of a society that cares more about being "citizens of the world" than good Jews.
4. #3 Amichai, I agree with most, as a good Israeli.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.13.12)
I don't feel comfortable living in the U.S., but I left for valid personal reasons. Since then, I have been distancing myself from Israel more than I want because of the Haredi issue. I put my life on the line for Israel, served it with all I had and with a willing heart. And I will tell you one thing from what I learned: Israel is populated by good Israelis who are not all Jews.
