5. Not only in Syria....
Beary White ,   Norway   (07.03.12)
islamic followers are well known of tourturing non-islamic believers all around when beeing in powers. Either using sharia law or pure evil madness. just take a look inside islamic detension centers throughout north africa....mali, kenya, libya, same shit.
6. can't be true
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (07.03.12)
18 months ago, the Left including Obama and Clinton hailed Assad as a great reformer and the future of the Middle East against the evil Israelis. Would they have supported Assad if he was running 27 torture centers?
7. But now back to Israel
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (07.03.12)
Of course even with all these blatant violations, they will continue focusing on Israel because its an easier target.
8. The Measure of a Nation
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (07.03.12)
If these reports are true it is a terrible indictment on the current state of Syria. The measure of a nation is the degree to which a government uses force to control its citizens. (Australia as a model of an enlightened country that uses as little force as possible on its citizens is near the top of the global ladder on this point.) There is no doubt that Syria is almost in a civil war situation. Outside military intervention or a no fly zone at this point in time will only exacerbate the problem. The International Community's modality right now should be a combination of factors. The goal is to reduce the violence in the country and for stability to take hold. One day, hopefully, in the future, such torture chambers will no longer exist in Syria or any nation on Planet Earth. Prayers for Syria.
9. Disgusting !
Aviva ,   Israeli.   (07.03.12)
Where are all the voices at the United Nations. That all they know to do well !
10. WTF!?! Suddenly HRW has credibility? Seriously?
tf ,   herzliya il   (07.03.12)
This is the same HRW that routinely 'documents' myriad "Israeli war crimes". While I have little doubt of Syrian atrocities. It would be better if Ynet and the media would cite credible sources and not such seriously flawed serial truth adverse institutions like HRW or UN Human Rights council.
11. oh goody
SA ,   USA   (07.03.12)
It appears HRW and Pillay are finally focusing a bit on the real criminals in the world, and taking their gaze off of Israel.
12. Barbarians and Savages!
Moshe ,   Israeli   (07.03.12)
How cruel . I believe in Karma

The Richard Falk will soon be claiming that they are actually being run by Mossad.
15. Champions of the Progressive WORLD support them.
Ira   (07.03.12)
All those Scotish booksellers and South African grocers like to boycott Israel, yet they are totally comfortable with the Syrians and the other savage butchers in the Arab world who eat their young. Any act is justified with the barking of Allah ahlbar. Then you have a sulcha where one side gets a goat and all is forgiven. What a culture, what madness. They live in a place that makes Dante's Inferno look like the suburbs. Sickening.
16. Global understanding against Assad ?
Nora Tel Aviv   (07.03.12)
As long as that Putin can use his veto rights there is no way for a global understandig. Russia`s strategic interests will always come first.
17. shameful
Yousef ,   Hebron , Palestine   (07.03.12)
Everyman or regime who torture human beings will fall sooner or later . this is law of life
18. #6, reform
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (07.03.12)
Yes, he is a a great reformer in the middle east... see... 18 months ago they had 63 torture centers. See the difference? He should get a nobel peace prize

jj   (07.03.12)
cant you see that Syria is facing a very real and existensial threat and must deal with terrorists with force in order to ensure its survival? a little slap here and there isnt a big deal, when they can save lives, right? does that crap sound familiar? yeah no. 6, youre forgetting that Obama and his predecessor signed off on torture on every single day of their presidency, as well as israels own GSS carrying it out routinely. cue the cries of "but that was different!".
20. Given the chance, the opposition would do the same
David ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
There are no good guys there. Israel and the United States should stay out.
21. But UNHRC's Falk says Israel is the problem
William ,   Israel   (07.03.12)
despite the torture chambers in Syria and the massive civilian death count there....UNHRC's Falk claims Israel is the problem and it has no justification to return fire to Gaza for rockets aimed at Israeli civilian centers.

Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (07.03.12)
"Syria's facing a very real and existential threat and must deal with terrorists with force in order to ensure its survival"? When has Syria's unarmed women and children become 'terrorists'? How can you justify rape, torture maiming and murder of ones own people in order to remain in power? So far, no one can match the brutality of the arab spring and the arabs willingness to murder her own . America, Israel, are angels next to these crimes against humanity. But, rave on, that;'s what your paid to do.
23. # 16 Russia is also responsible for the deaths
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (07.03.12)
of how many Muslims? I wonder, will the Muslims remember and get even when they can?
24. THANK HASHEM FOR IDF!
(07.03.12)
25. #22

26. Good to know
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.03.12)
but, Jews are not involved so the world will continue to stay in their semi-concious sleep.

Arnold ,   Canada   (07.03.12)
Are you nuts ? "Syria is facing existential threats from terrorists" ? The original protests were by his SYRIAN people. He came down on them with heavy lethal force. How dare you try to compare to the Israeli Palestinian conflict to that. Israel and Palestine are two different peoples. Arab Palestinians were killing Jewish Palestinians since the turn of the 20th century..
28. Only in dictatorship mooslim countries it happens
