31. 2+ Wrongs Don't Make a Right
Jason ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.04.12)
We should say that it's become trendy among Israelis to play the anti-antisemitism card every time they hear something they don't like.
32. its anti Americanism
(07.04.12)
the obsession with Israel comes from the left . Europeans and especially leftists hate America. Israel is seen as America's pet. That is the explanation. If Israel stopped trying to look like a secular Western democracy ( e.g. if it was run by fanatical Haredim ) then Europeans would 'regard it as just another Arab country full of people who cannot be expected to know any better.
33. #1: Their true & final motivation is ANTI TORAISM!

Andy Lewis ,   Anytown, US of A   (07.04.12)
Why, yes...they ARE just out to demonize Israel. This has been another in the series, "Easy Answers to Really Simple Questions."
35. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Peter ,   Corby UK   (07.04.12)
While I definitely agree there is anti-semitism at work here, I don't think that's what's driving most of the campaign here in the UK, certainly not in this small town. I talk to a few people who say I am 'pro-Israel' and they are 'pro-Palestine' but I don't think they fully understand what's going on. That's led them to make a lot of silly comments that are being construed as anti-semitism by those aware of it. This is just making the situation worse, and we need to be getting the correct information disseminated across the Internet.
36. THAT'S EXACTLY THE POINT. THANK YOU.
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion.   (07.04.12)

Maybe it's 'your utter refusal to recognise the reality that the 'so called settlements in JUDEA & SAMARIA (the ROMANS changed the name JUDEA to Paleastina) are there because of the NON- ACCEPTANCE (untill this day) of the Arabs recognizing precisely of 'that fact! There were wars against Israel long before the "settlements, which RESULTED in the "settlements, but who are nothing more than freed Jewish soil. Arabs are in the Middle East not more than 150 years and yes, they were Arabs, not ""Palestinians, who were invented by Arafat & Carter. That's the real obsession! The obsession to legalize the Palestinians into something they NEVER were....a People with a State. By the way, the Human Rights of the Arab Palestinians are fine. The only ones hurting them were/are the Arab regimes, not Israel. The main problem for the Arabs are not the ""settlements, but the Jewish State of Israel and no, some things NEVER change, one of them being Jew hatred...it's universal & from all times.
38. It is anti-semitism - pure and simple!
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.04.12)
Those activists do not care about human rights, as if they did, they would have been marching in the streets for many causes, not having enough time to demonize Israel and engage in those so-called anti-Zionists protests... Abba Eban once wisely said: “There is no difference whatever between anti-Semitism and the denial of Israel's statehood. Classical anti-Semitism denies the equal right of Jews as citizens within society. Anti-Zionism denies the equal rights of the Jewish people its lawful sovereignty within the community of nations. The common principle in the two cases is discrimination” (New York Times, November 3, 1975). As someone who has witnessed their hatred, and suffered from those anti-Semites in Israel and abroad, I am just about reaching a stage where I could conclude that it is a waste of time to reason with them. We could utilize our energy for better purposes such as making Israel stronger and a safer place for Jews, as nowhere else is ever likely to be safe enough.
39. ABDULLA,So do you & you controll the UN GA & NGOs & controll
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (07.04.12)
the votes on who gets elected to the Sec Council.
40. Measure for measure!
Vladimir ,   Yerushalayim   (07.04.12)
As long as the broad secular public demonizes the charedim in Israel, the "almost borderline clinical obsession with Israel" in the world at large will only grow. G-d knows how to punish evil.
41. Deep inside, everyone knows they're Jew haters.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.04.12)
Or course, those who demonize Israel are Jew haters. Deep inside, everyone knows that.
42. Totally Agree -
Declan Carroll ,   dublin, ireland   (07.04.12)
U summed up correctly all that's behind these so-called "activists". It is indeed hatred dressed up as human rights concerns. I would like to add that in Ireland anyway - these so-called "activists" are a very vocal minority who do not represent the "silent majority". Many media outlets ought to hang their heads in shame at not be balanced, fair & just in their reportings as well as not being truthful. Cheers from Ireland.
43. We are always trying to figure out "Why do they hate us so?"
(07.04.12)
Because they do. That's it. We're Jews; we're hated. Stop wasting time and energy trying to figure out why. The root of that searching is always this: you so desperately want to be liked and accepted by the world, want to look like them, dress like them and act like them. Doesn't work. Give it up. Every time Jews have "successfully" woven themselves into the fabric of the surrounding culture and have almost completely assimmilated they have been beaten right out of that rug forceably, demonstrably. It's an historical cyclical fact. We are a people apart. Be a Jew and be proud. Wear it. Look it. Live it. Stop begging for acceptance. Stop apologizing for being who you are.
44. #42 Thank you, Declan of Dublin. Appreciated, and cheers!

45. Pathetic
American ,   USA   (07.04.12)
The only reason why Israel exists is because of American weapons and money. That is a plain and simple fact; and that is why so many in the west are absolutely outraged by how Israel spends the treasure that we trust her with. China and Russia existed long before the creation of the modern state of Israel - and they exist without any assistance from the west. Learn to stand on your own two feet before you claim that those who are outraged at the abuse of the privilege that has been bestowed on you by the weapons given to you by America. Act honestly and humanely with my money and there will be no criticism. This type of self loathing does nothing for you but deepen your insanity.
46. Yes Israel you do have a problem
Mark ,   U S.   (07.04.12)
I know this problem has to do with realities, is Israel or this state of Israel a reality to true scripture and time in the prophetic mode, on the prophetic clock. The Palestinians are just a solidified illusion to the reality of Israel, maybe Israel is obsessed with itself and an identity that is not so clear in time and factuallity. The prophetic clock states by the lives of the prophets that there is supposed to be PEACE somewhere in these Last Days, not this continuous question of Israel's right to exist. When will it ever stop, is it suppose to stop, is this the reality that was written thousands of years ago to be manifested somewhere in time where everyone will sit under his own fig tree in PEACE, I believe Micah envisioned, prophecied this. Borderline clinical obsession with Israel,,,,, is she?
47. re:pathetic
L ,   USA   (07.04.12)
From what I can tell, isn't China's industrialization and economic boom rather largely based on the U.S. importing a large amount of their stuff? We contribute heavily to the global economic infrastructure. I guess you have forgotten that no nation at this point really stands on 'it's own two feet' tho due to people such as yourself it seems to me that Israel may be better off not relying on any nation for any reason. U.S. does not 'donate' to any cause for altruistic reasons, and you can go preach to another country about how to spend the U.S. 'donations'. Israel exists due to decisions made long ago~starting with I believe the Balfour Declaration, and Britain if I remember correctly was heavily involved in that. Your grasp of history and the current reality of global politics and economy seem rather shaky, at best. Prior to calling anyone pathetic perhaps you should brush up a bit and expand your myopic vision to take in how the U.S. policy and 'donations' to other countries has worked over the years.
48. aske them why?

49. #31 Let me guess, you didn't bother to read the article.
Tahl   (07.04.12)
OK Jason, since you are obviously too lazy or too narrow-minded to read this article, I'll sum it up for you in a nutshell: The author states very clearly, that Israel is definitely not above criticism. However. Given the fact that MUCH worse atrocities in this world happen every day, and are completely ignored by the so-called "peace activists" who devote their entire energies to criticize and demonize Israel, and Israel alone - there is no escaping the fact that we have a very troubling, bizarre, logically-senseless double-standard here. To use the author's example, it is like the police devoting all its manpower against jaywalkers, while many murders take place. In such scenario, the jaywalkers have a legitimate argument that something is very crooked in the police's priorities. Sometimes you can simply call a Spade by its name. Sometimes, antisemitism is just too blatant to be reasoned or ignored.
50. Thank you
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.04.12)
Very well expressed Shlomie Liberow., just wish that it could be published in media other than our own. Have you perhaps tried to send it to the BBCi, for instance? Unlikely that they would accept it, but worth trying all the same.
51. No. 45: SAUDI ARABIA WOULDN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT US HELP EITHER
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion.   (07.05.12)
Though it's incomparably more criminal than Israel.
52. COLONIALISM??
David ,   Silver Spring MD USA   (07.05.12)
How many colonies does Israel have? You're delusional, Matt. Israel was always willing to accept the territory it had been alotted by international agreement-- it was the Arabs who sought to "steal" land (by murdering the Jews on it). The fact that it didn't work out so well for the Arabs does not make the Jews colonialists-- just survivors.
53. No. 45: NORTH KOREA WOULDN'T EXIST WITHOUT CHINESE HELP.
(07.05.12)
Though it's incomparably more criminal tgan Israel, too.
54. No. 45: AMOUNT OF US HELP TO ISRAEL'S GDP: 4%...
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion.   (07.05.12)
You therefore ought to think Israel might survive without US help...
55. No. 45: NORTH KOREA WOULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT CHINA HELP EITHER.
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion.   (07.05.12)
Though it's incomparably more criminal than Israel, too.
56. Let's reinstate apartheid in S. Africa
Ibrahim Ibn Yusuf ,   Rosario, Argentina   (07.05.12)
After all, apartheid was much more benevolent than the Communist regime in China or the sharia state in Saudi Arabia. Unlike in those countries, black citizens could travel abroad, and black women were allowed to drive. Why were people obsessed with South Africa? Those who demonstrated against apartheid were nothing more than loony lefties. It is a shame that apartheid South Africa was dismantled thanks to the actions of those Afrikaner-hating radicals, when there were many other, much graver human-rights violations around the world.
