1. HEAVEN FORBID AN ISRAEL RUN BY ANY RABBINIC RULE
stude ham   (07.04.12)
the rabbis are too hungry for absolute power.
2. Haredi politicians
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (07.04.12)
Now they are condemning Kadima, but we remember that these are the same people who took money and supported Kadima when Sharon sent his troops to destroy synagogues, uproot Jewish graves attack Jewish women, and kick Jewish children out of their homes.
3. MK Gafni "evil"??
PaulZion ,   Israel   (07.04.12)
MK Gafni has the audacity to call this initiative evil. From what I read, a lot of work and thought went into this report, which addressed important issues. The Supreme Court's ruling was about rectifying a basic wrong: the discrimination against the sectors of the society, which shoulder the burden of national service, while other sectors shirk this responsibility. So, Mr Gafni, what is truly evil is that you think that your yeshiva students' blood is more precious than ours, that their studies are more important than ours ( and they cannot be put off for 3 years) and that other "lesser" citizens have to be prepared to sacrifice themselves so that the " yeshiva bochers" can continue their lifestyle, undisturbed. What arrogance!
4. haredi gouv member threats with civil war?!
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (07.04.12)
Well, that shows for me that the haredim are not interessted in Israel, they only want the money from the state, the residents to finance thier lazy living! ITS ENOUGH!
5. No One Wins?
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (07.04.12)
Really? The Haredim have been winning for 65 years! Thanks to a ridiculous political system and politicians too corrupt to stand for what is equitable. Power and money DO NOT come before equal justice and burdens for all. I was and continue to be surprised the non-Haredi population has not revolted long before this. The solution is simple: No service? No benefits. NONE. Jail. Then? You're deported. Martial law first. Clean your house. Too much Levantine crap going on there.
6. #5 Shimon
DavidR ,   USA   (07.04.12)
Shimon, I agree with your comments, however, are they a little, or a lot, hypocritical? Are you a Jew? I assume so judging from your name, however, I may be wrong, since I also have a Jewish name, "David" and I am not a Jew. Bottom line, if you are a Jew, before you condemn others, perhaps you should do aliyah and do your IDF service. If you are not a Jew, neither you, nor I, have a dog in this fight and should keep our mouths shut on this issue. It is not our business.
7. A Regular Army With Perks
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (07.05.12)
Whether a Jew or gentile immigrates to Israel is begging the question. Who cares? The problme is not theirs. The problem is systematic in Israel, with its many flaws of governing and equal justice and responsibility. Israel choose to overlook problems, whtich after a few decades erode its socity, with all its accomplishments notwithstanding. The Charedif were 110,000 now 1.1m. Its like the 12m illegals in the US, After 3m were given amnestry 25 years ago, the border should have been sealed and employment a crime ( employer and employee). Now its impossible to resolve. Sanctioning 1m young adults to work (Obama) is a bandaid. Israel cannot resolve its army, (work) problme through force or sanctions. It needs a prof army..with or wio Charedi and Arabs. It can create national service jobs..also, with benefits and perks, not available to others in Israel (except in the IDF through voluntees and the draft. Thats how you deal with this. One thing, the Charedi and Arabs should police their own neighborhoods...by reducing regular troops. That would free up the army for more sensitive and dangerous jobs. (like guarding the borders with Egypt and Gaza). Too little, too late..too many complications Bibi, you should have seen this coming.
