....and you sound like a mentally short-changed Redneck, who needs to look up the meaning of "Atheist." BTW, that's "has drunk." Obviously, you missed your grammar classes, too. I am, however, thankful that you kept your comment short. Since I'm a naturalized citizen, who learned English as an adult, I'm prone to get disgusted to see the language butchered. Here's Bon Jovi's version of "Have a nice day" to you :-)
35. Movin on over to our side...

Yea, he may be a convert, but we let people who freely wish to join our people join us and eventually they assimilate into our wider nation. Much like every other nation on earth, except of course Arab and Islamic nations. You don't have to deal with that because they're aint no outsiders stupid enough to immigrate INTO your countries. It's always the other way.
38. the first Muslim-born man ?
david ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.12)
that's your first mistake right there ynet. children are not born muslims, jews, christians, rightists, leftists, supporters of maccabi or beitar, and this may surprise many of you god believers, they are born with the same underdeveloped brain you have when worms are eating you. my point is they're way too young to know whether or not they want to start believing in a god, or to decide if they want to adopt "the quran" or 'the god delusion" as their book. STOP CALLING CHILDREN WHAT THEY'RE NOT let them decide to be smart and atheists or believers in any god they want.
39. Mail Order Jews
Dan ,   NYC   (07.08.12)
Ya could look it up in the Torah. Blane & his mail order converts don't fit the description.
40. Lovely- Another fake Deformed "rabbi"
Jon Rosenbluth ,   New York, NY   (07.08.12)
and one who says there is NO covenant with G-d either. And a mail order fake rabbi to add insult to injury. THIS is "news"? It should be in the comic section.

43. To: Rod at No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.12)
I wish you all the best of everything. By the way, Jews have always been victimized by proselytizing and forced conversions, so it is incumbent on the rabbis to welcome a convert with one hand, but to push him away with the other. In any event, welcome to the family! We are very glad to have you.
44. all religions and races can convert
yael dvorah ,   north miami beach us   (07.08.12)
people of any religion or race can halachically convert to Judaism. being muslim and black (or white or any other race) is completely compatible with Judaism, as there are people who can halachically become Jews from every corner of earth, race and religion included. but gay? now that's the real issue ...
45. To pessimists here, this MAY just be the FUTURE of Judaism!
Gerardo Islas ,   Monterrey, Mexico   (07.08.12)
Short of a miracle, our numbers are not strong enough to sustain our religion/people forward. Maybe this is the future of Judaism, we are just too myopic, religiously, to see it.
46. Who does the conversions?
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (07.08.12)
Does any recognised group or 'stream' recognise his ordinations? Who does the conversions? Does he both convert and ordain them? His rejection of 'choseness' sounds like Mordechai Kaplan's 1935 'Judaism as a Civilisation' where he says we've entered the age of universal brotherhood -- just as Nazism began taking power in the Fatherland.
47. The average 6-year old
Rube Vogel   (07.08.12)
child in an Orthodox Jewish day school knows more about Judaism than these guys. After a year, the only appropriate title for them is beginner.

49. Rabbis

I confess, I am a classmate of Dario Hunter. In my case the program was not a year. It is the culmination of 15 years of study. First, Dario has an Orthodox conversion that has been accepted by the State of Israel for citizenship. I think we all can accept that standard. As for me, I have an ed degree from JTS, more than a year of Talmud study from an Orthodox yeshiva and JTS, a chaplaincy unit, a year of study in Israel, and years of seminars and workshops on various subjects. I've also led numerous services in various settings for young and old. I'm not so unusual in my class. As with any group, we are a mix of beliefs and strengths. And while we meet online, several of us have actually met -- I met Dario when I visited Israel this winter and I regularly talk and meet with other students.
50. This story make me think at another one
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.08.12)
this self proclaimed convert from Ra'anana who also gives himself the title of paqid . But he's a liar too .
51. #19 linda
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.08.12)
I think you need a review of G-d’s Word. We are chosen to spread His laws; the Ten Commandments. We are NOT chosen to be better than anyone else. Even a non Jew can get to heaven without following all Ten Commandments. He/she must adhere to the laws of Noah (basically those Ten Commandments dealing with the relationship between man and man, not man and G-d). G-d was even willing to save Sodom and Gomorrah if Abraham could find 10 people who were righteous, even when they wouldn’t have been Jewish.
52. #30 Paul - interesting...
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.08.12)
that you are able to judge this man, certain that he has nothing spiritual to offer the Jewish people, without meeting him or knowing much about him. I can understand hesitation about the conversion and ordination but not about him as a person.
53. #46 sherlock
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.08.12)
You put an interesting twist on the story; a man whose ordinations you don’t agree with is now a nazi. Also a twist I totally reject. The more things we compare to naziism tends to cheapen the Shoah. There is nothing wrong with universal brotherhood between groups, in my opinion, as long as our groups don’t lose our identities. Much better to have universal brotherhood than the return of nazis or their ilk.
54. #49 future - thank you...
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.08.12)
for adding some pertinent information about Dario. Most people’s opinions here will probably not change, but its still best to deal in facts, not conjectures. He certainly has somewhat of a difficult road ahead.
55. conversion to and from islam
lebanese observer   (07.08.12)
people convert to and from religions all the time . in the case of islam , it is just more low key . i hear from friends that in europe almost 10% of the children of muslim immigrants convert within one generation
56. 51 solomon, bklyn: No one can obey the Ten Commandments
(07.08.12)
perfectly to enter HaShem's Kingdom on their own merits. It took a Jewish Messiah who obeyed the Torah and Tanakh perfectly (not the Talmud which is man-made laws), who gave up his life to reconcile sinners to Yahweh His Father. Only those who believe in the Jewish Messiah who was the Sacrificial Lamb, fulfilling the Spring Feasts of the Lord who will come again as the Lion of Judah to fulfill the Fall Feasts of the Lord, can enter HaShem's Kingdom. They must believe Yeshua of Nazareth died and rose again in a physical body and is at the right hand of Yahweh in His Kingdom. That is saving faith. Trying to obey the everlasting Commandments is an indication a person loves HaShem since Yeshua said those who love Him would obey His Commandments. Whose Commandments? Yeshua said He is Yahweh, so the Commandments of the Holy Scriptures are what one should follow and obey by the grace of the Holy Spirit in one since it is impossible without the Ruach HaKodesh to obey Yahweh-Yeshua.
57. Reply to number 53 Mordechai Kaplan
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (07.09.12)
I was comparing Steven Blane to Mordechai Kaplan who also naively rejected the concept of chosenness and thought anti-semitism was a thing of the past just as Nazism was taking power. I was not comparing Blane to a Nazi. Personally I'm all in favour of universal brotherhood, but I know we are very far away from that stage.
58. #56 noname
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.09.12)
1. “Yeshua said he is Yahweh...” He said he was G-d’s son. So why don’t you follow Muhammed, who said he was THE prophet of G-d? Why do you not believe in Muhammed and are upset when Jews don’t believe in Jesus? 2. You forget the main statement re: the Messiah: “When the Messiah comes there will be peace.” Not much of that, is there? 3. A familiar quote among Jews to Christians: We've had quite enough of 'Christian love', thank you very much. 4. A quote from Pat Condell: While Muslims and Christians want you to believe what they believe, Jews don't care what you believe as long as you leave them alone. 5. There is no 'one way' to get to heaven. That, to me, is more like the true G-d. Ha Shem was even willing to save Sodom and Gomorrah if Abraham could find 10 people who were righteous, even when they weren’t Jewish. Judaism also was the first religion to state that each individual has a direct line to G-d; no intermediary necessary. I'll stick to Judaism, thank you very much.
59. #57 sherlock - sincere apologies
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.09.12)
I totally misunderstood your post. I thought you were comparing Kaplan’s words to the rise of the nazi’s. I took “just as” to mean “just like”. Thank you for educating me on Mordechai Kaplan, and for letting me know, with courtesy, that we are on the same page. Shalom. Peace. Cheers.
