Iran must be aware that the U.S. will close Iran if attacked. Even the Mad Mullahs cannot be that naive.

That might be a real good time to see how good the Dolphin submarines that Israel bought from Germany are.

They'll never close the straits of Hormuz. They wouldn't dare. The U.S. administration has made it continuously clear that such an action would be percieved as an act of war by the United States. Let's not forget the US 5th fleet stationed nearby. Any attempt to seal the straits off would likely result in an early new-year fireworks celebration, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Iran acts like a buffoon, again. Oh, and let's not forget: it's interests ARE already severely threatened, by the measures taken by the West. And as far as I know, the only recent reaction by the primitive dumbasses currently in charge of what was once a flourishing nation, was to include France and Germany on it's list of percieved culprits behind the taking out of a couple of Iranian nuclear scientists. Gee, much impressed..... And, not that it has anything to do with the subject at hand: ''acting rationally?'' Please tell me that's a joke. What's the rationale behind flogging raped women and hanging teenagers from cranes for ''crimes'' that any civilized country would regard as constitutional freedoms? Disgusting. There's no other word for it.

We will burn you, your navy and your cohorts alive.
7. Close Hormuz - If threatened?
Tim ,   Brighton   (07.07.12)
Theres NO IF about it. It WILL happen. It has been in the planning for months and the chatter is August 2012...before Iran runs out of Oil Storage Space And this isnt going to be the gung ho all guns blazing scenario rather a carefully calculated series of ratcheted moves which they believe will realise their demands WELL SHORT of the point at which war is triggered First they will 'politely' turn back all 'Unfriendly' Tankers to and from the Hormuz No Tanker would be in any position other than acquiesce..The calculation is that this move (without firing a single shot) will send oil prices to around $180pb even $250pb within 24 hours and with 72 hours they believe that their 'key demands' would have been met 1. Cease all sanctions 2. Cease all Nuclear Talks and Negotiations 3. Commence formal and legal agreement for 'ownership and title of the Arabian Gulf Hormuz and 'the Island of Bahrein' to be passed to its proper and rightful owners See any flaws in the calculation?

9. #7, Yes Tim...this calculation is bull shit !

ANY form of blockade will trigger war...
10. Hard to believe even the Mad Mullahs are that mad
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (07.08.12)
An act of war blocking a vital international waterway lifeline. Are they mad enough to believe the West will just sit on their hands?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.12)
Well, Tim, there are actually several flaws, but chief among them is the fact that the only country in the world that does not consider the Straits of Hormuz to be international waters happens to be the Islamic Republic of Iran. Preventing cargo vessels from entering the Straits is an act of war, and will be treated as such. Boarding any such tanker in order to effectively prevent their transit is an act of piracy, and will be treated as such. Of course, you do need to factor into the equation that there is nothing to stop any of the countries whose tankers utilize the Straits from providing them with a military escort. In the grand scheme of things, however -- it doesn't matter. Only 20% of the world's petroleum is carried aboard vessels which transit the Straits. The Saudis are working on restoring an overland pipeline which will effectively skirt the Straits. And imagine what a total tragedy it would be were any of the 65 Iranian supertankers lying at anchor offshore and being utilized as storage facilities to catch fire. No, the Iranians are not going to hamper commercial shipping in the Straits. If you read the article closely, you will see that the Iranian government is trying desperately to backpedal from their silly threats made earlier in the week. But they've been threatening since January of this year. They've cried wolf so often, it's getting rather hard to believe anything they say. But do you have any idea what the fair market value of a Capemax and Suezmax tanker vessel is? And those would be the first targets. Iran is not anxious to lose both the petroleum stored on these vessels AND the vessels. Trust me.
12. U.S. Navy
Proud American ,   U.S.A   (07.08.12)
Iran for all its bluster, has no desire to provoke the U.S. Navy! The U.S.S Virginia alone could destroy them! Not to mention the U.S. 5th fleet, and the F-22s that their so called air defenses would never see until its to late! Oh yeah and a B-2 can Target 86 independent targets if I'm not mistaken lol go ahead Iran close the strait.........obumma may be afraid of you but U.S. generals, and admirals are not! BTW Sarah B. I love your comments, keep up the good work! Long live the U.S.A., and long live Israel!!!!!

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.12)
Why, thank you! Tackling Israel will be difficult enough for Iran. Adding the United States into the mix is positively suicidal. Well, let them. It's high time that right-thinking individuals turned that nasty bastion of hatred and cruelty into dust, isn't it? Should be fun to see their self-proclaimed "missiles" (yuk!) and military "superiority" (yuk!) in action, don't you think? Nothing short of civilization is at stake. We are NOT dealing with normal human beings. If they are all that anxious to join "Allah," let's just send them to hell. Should be quite the par-tay. Amen.
