1. Just Do It !
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (07.09.12)
"Plesner, Ya’alon hope to draft universal conscription law in two days" As that famous saying goes from a certain shoe company... "Just do it !"
2. Are they sure?
David ,   Detroit, USA   (07.10.12)
Think back over history. Anyone that started up with God's chosen - paid a hefty price. Torah students are Gods chosen. Is Kadima, Yesh Atid and Yisrael Beitainu really sure that they are interested in starting with God and His Torah? Proceed with caution!!!
3. Israel is the Jewish state - Torah should be in your DNA too
Yoel ,   Israel   (07.09.12)
4. This "historical change" is a product of intermarriage
Dov   (07.09.12)
Plessner, whose father is a goy and grandfather is a goy and he himself got married in a church is behind this evil decree of drafting Torah learners. Not surprising! A decree that was unheard of since the establishment of the state. Even Prime Minister Ariel Sharon stated that without Yeshivot there is no Jewish nation.
5. Sadly, this awful decree is a product of assimilation
Dov   (07.10.12)
Plessner, whose father is a goy and grandfather is a goy and he himself got married in a church is behind this evil decree of drafting Torah scholars. Not surprising. What does he understand about Judaism? Such an evil decree was unheard of since the establishment of the state. Even Prime Minister Ariel Sharon stated that without Yeshivot there is no Jewish nation. Shame on Bibi and Mofaz for agreeing to this plessner.
6. Draft
Martin ,   SA   (07.10.12)
You dont need 18 year olds 21 year old Charedim is good for all. As it is there are a big group of older Charedim 21 and up whom have never trained. Use them first. Given a finger you want the hand. You already have Charedim in service. The charedim have agreed after all these years to serve. Test them out at 21 and you will be suprised at your quality. Let the Charedi build a structure of command. You are out to bash them. Mofaz you are a soldier and now a Politicians and are jumping on the band waggon that leads to destruction. You will have so many tainees you wont know what to do with them. Dont bring sadness to the Haredim they have got your message. They have different set up. One third in the front one third supplies and logistics one third in learning is our formula. Bring the Creator of Heaven and earth into the system and be motivated and fly. War games have changed. Mature operative will better suit. Perhaps its time the IDF changed its training methods and selction accross the board.
7. I'm getting increasingly tired
2Mad ,   צרפת   (07.10.12)
of all those middle-aged farts craving for hysteric changes. Why don't try some useful change instead, so one could say their life wasn't vain all along ?
8. And refusing to knock out Israel's enemies permanently...
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.10.12)
...and always giving Israel's enemies a chance to rebuild their military strength while Israel passively watches like a moron without doing anything, always giving in to Israel's enemies, always retreating, always sacrificing moral principles, always punishing Jews in Judea and Samaria, always protecting Arabs, always conducting a Left Wing extremist self hating national policy, seems to be the DNA of Israeli governments and politicans of the past and of today. Serving the IDF is good: what about letting Jews stay in Israel and expelling the Arabs from Israel? IDF is meant to protect the JEWISH state of Israel. How can IDF protect Jews if IDF is constantly given orders to evict and expel Jews from Judea and Samaria and to ignore lethal threats from Hezbollah or Hamas just across the border? Having a national defense is good. What about using it? And what about using it to protect Jewish lives and to destroy Israel's enemies on a permanent basis? How much stalling is needed? For how many years will Israelis wonder "when is the next war? Next week, month, year or decaded?". Knock out Israel's enemies once and for all and stop stalling.
9. #3, and you're free to do that for your remaining 70 years
Avi   (07.10.12)
And preferably with your own money, not through taxes paid by the secular public.
10. Do NOT draft Israeli Arabs.
Reuven   (07.10.12)
We don't need them walking around with guns. Most of them hate us!
11. Maybe IDF Service Is Part Of Israel's DNA..
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.10.12)
B"H .. but serving Hashem is part of Jewish DNA!
12. good idea but
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (07.10.12)
if everybody is to do national service in one way or another there should be absolutely no more discrimination...not against Haredi and not against Arabs in any shape or form.
13. Not only social and military. ACHDUT Yisrael-victory-balance

geekay ,   Canada   (07.10.12)
"God's Chosen" - according to whom?! Jews are Jews, no matter the degree of religiousness. Why should secular Jews do all the dirty work, serve and sometimes die while serving in the army, pay taxes and generally do all the heavy lifting for those who choose to read the Torah all day and even worse, financially support the ultra nut cases who don't even recognize Israel. There has to be a fairer system. Bibi has a small window during which he need to finish the job. Isn't that the reason why he jumped into bed with Kadima???
15. # 4
Anon ,   Israel   (07.10.12)
You are blinded by your primitive preduces. Smarten up and get a balanced life.
16. I don't think IDF has anything to do with DNA. Hashem does.
Miron ,   USA   (07.10.12)
We aren't asking to join IDF doe the sake of blood relationship. So, keep those faulty comparisons out of the fold. The cowards can't admit that their workd is about better laws, not better religious people. They would rather play cheap mashiah where they can and where they can't.
17. #14 God's Chosen" - according to whom
Working Chareidi ,   Hertzalia   (07.10.12)
Chosen by God. Take a look at parshat yisro for starters, if you know what that is. You and your likes are so aliented from your own heritage that you haven't a clue of basic Jewish values and a recognition that you embody a universal message as a Jew crucial for all of mankind. Once you understand the role Torah plays in the world you can begin to talk intelligently about national responsibilites. Yes, national responsibiliy has to be met by everybody. It's time for everybody to go to Yeshiva and collectively accept the national responsibility of Torah and mitvot. Working Chareidi
