1. Total BS no one asked them to pray for us
Haim ,   TA   (07.10.12)
How strange the ultra orhthadox hate secular people and then they use the exscuse they are praying for us? These young brain washed zombies will do good to go to the army, a bit of displine and make men of them.
2. Reality Check
TruthMonger   (07.10.12)
I kinda don't think that 30,000 draft dodgers....I mean Haredim, are all volunteering in Yad Sarah et al. These are all good organizations, but volunteering in them does not exempt anyone from their obligation. I know plenty of people who volunteer and they also were in the army, so cut the you know what. While we are at it, if these draft dodgers really believed that their contribution was like that of a soldier, then they would not take off 5 weeks until Elul. What do they think, that they have a surplus of zchuyot that covers that time?
3. Most of these yeshivot don't take money from the government
David   (07.10.12)
certainly Eda Haredit and their yeshivot don't but yet they pay taxes like everyone else. They learn Torah at least 18 hours a day which indeed is the main protection for Israel. Let's not fool ourselves, where would Israel get its merits if not from these boys and young men learning Torah all day and half a night?
4. #1 We(Haredim) love you becouse you are our brother
hadad haredi ,   jerusalem   (07.10.12)
You do not know the truth becouse you were brain washed. your problem is you beleve these leftist polititians who feed you their lies. Do you realy think that they want the haredim to serve in the army?. my freind beleve me they understand very well that the haredim and the tora are the only things that they can show the world Israel is ours. and they need the haredim so much to keep learning torah. Ive been brought up as a haredi, Ive never ever been tought or heard from my parents ,teachers and rabbis that we hate the chilonim, the oposite we love them becouse they are our brothers and a brother can not hate his brother, think about my words, its sad how you feel about the haredim , you are wrong.
5. #1 Haim
D.B.   (07.10.12)
The ones who hate are the non-religious. They're mad at themselves and let it out on hareidim and thus hate hareidim with a passion. Proof of the love from hareidim is how they go out of their way to be mekarev the not-yet-religious and lovingly bring them into their homes esp for Shabbat. You certainly need their prayers otherwise there wouldn't be so many non-religious at homes of rabbis to get their blessings and prayers.
6. There will be a mass demonstration worldwide next week.

8. Hadad charedi , You love your "brothers"
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.10.12)
so much that you throw stones on them shabbat , that some of you eve4n spit on a girl , or insult a woman . You love your "brothers" so much that you show them your hate filled faces when Gays , your "brothers" , dare to parade in their capital . The only thing that can show the world That Israel is OURS , we who build and developped it , is our HISTORY .
9. God have a peculiar sense of humor I must say ,...
snag ,   USA   (07.10.12)
He's not so crazy about zionists and that's a fact - First He gave them a piece of lan... sorry, a piece of fallow than he added a bunch of schnorrers ;) ,...
10. Then staying home to pray should be an exemption for non rel
mea   (07.10.12)
religious as well--UNtil someone can PROVE the prayers of yeshivot are superior to the prayers of people in the trenches, people at home like PARENTS of soldiers, and draft dodgers, then the exemption absolutely must reach across the population and be suitable as an exemption for everyone. You want democracy, you accept equality on all things, not just what keep Netanyahu in office.
11. #8 Charles well said !
Haim ,   TA   (07.10.12)
12. #Charles you get worse
Shalom Hartman   (07.10.12)
A few idiots give a whole community a bad name - and you damned well know it! Most hareidim are peace-loving, warm, compassionate people who do good deeds and wouldn't dream of spitting at anyone, nor throwing stones at them.
13. #3
Erich   (07.10.12)
a) No one is advocating that the yeshivas be emptied of students learning Torah day and night. While some are off to the army others will be learning in yeshiva. b) Most of the chareidi yeshivas directly and indirectly take government money. And most don't pay any significant taxes because they claim poverty. c) Let's stopping fooling ourselves indeed. These lifelong "students" find the time to do many things other than Torah such as snagging wives, making babies and attending hafganot. I think they can well find the time to serve Am Yisrael in a manner that shows real emunah and bitachon, where their lives are on the line like those of their non-chareidi counterparts.
14. As the Haredim is to israeli; israeli is to the USA

15. Three Years for Everyone in the IDF
yaakov ,   TA   (07.10.12)
After that you can study, pray, do whatever you like (as long as I don't pay for you) No excuses, no exemptions---it's time to stop the madness....
16. Shalom , have you seen a PUBLIC condemnation
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.10.12)
of those acts by their leaders ? A few idiots ? Have you seen the "few" ? Worse ? their extremism brings extremism on the other side .
17. 4 Hadad I love everybody...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.10.12)
Some i love to be around, some i love to avoid and others i love to punch in the face [saying] In the last category belongs those who use stereotypes to divide Israelis into Haredi and non-haredi. I wish my worst enemies to be victims of stereotypes. People are either good or bad.

Erich   (07.10.12)
hadad, there is plenty of brainwashing all around. You have been convinced - against all truth and logic - that the normal Jewish way, halachically, hashkafically and historically, is for Jews not to work and not to serve in the army. You have also been convinced that those that advocate those things, even the talmidei chachamim amongst them, are something treif. The rocks you have thrown at chilonim, the lies you have spread about datiim and even the battles you have conducted amongst yourselves are hardly acts of love, but if you now want to show some of the love you claim to have, come serve with us and if it must be die with us.
19. draft
Secular from usa ,   Kenosha, usa   (07.10.12)
Let's see how all that study and prayer does if Israel is attacked.
20. 9 , how was the ride in this Safed car ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.10.12)
Something different than to creep low on earth , no ?
21. Against universal draft
Annie ,   Israel   (07.10.12)
While I am completely secular, Jewish and zionist, I do not support the universal draft. All of us are Jews and must respect each other's wishes and lifestyle. Once we are divided, we will fall, and too many out there are waiting that moment. Obviusly, Haredim are not religious in order to avoid the military. Religion is who and what they are - and who am I to judge that? The same is in Buddhist culture where monks do the "spiritual" work for the rest of society. Some of the times the way we speak of Haredim reminds me of Nazi Germany. WE ARE ONE PEOPLE, different but one.
22. Close their "yeshivas" and exile them to
jason white ,   afula, israel   (07.10.12)
the Gulag. No military service for male and female alike, then get out of our country. That goes for everyone, not just the hara-dims.
23. 8 Charles Your posts are popular..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.10.12)
unfortunately it is for the bad reasons. With your popularity you could do better use .Instead of bashing what you hate, promote what you love.
24. Bunch of dummies.
Gill ,   Montreal   (07.10.12)
The state will never enlist the yeshiva boys. One simple reason does anyone have any idea how much money is driven from chuts laaretz to finance them. I mean does anyone really think that the live off of the countries 700 shekels a month.
25. 21 Well said,Annie.

27. @#$%^(&)*^%$ ,...
split ,   US   (07.11.12)
Anyone wonder why no one likes them and everyone hates them just like in today's Israel ? ,... The people among those Jews tried to establish themself aren't stupid and after a while have figure it out that they are nothing more than a host to a cyst living of them a born schnorrers,... 3/4 of them have never work a day in their life or look for work and the remaining 1/4 is waking up every morning and think how to screw you up starting with a ponzi scams to a welfare/medicare abuse, a kosher nostra tags on gentile's products to a monopoly in mohel services in a Jewish communities as we speak.
28. Self Help
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (07.11.12)
There is no historical proof that prayer alone helped prevent or averted any catastrophe. Prayer did not have any effect during the holocaust. What these yeshiva students seem to have forgotten, or chose to ignore, is that G-d helps those who help themselves. These yeshiva students are probably living in fear of the real world and are reluctant to leave their protective safe haven.
29. Ok Now I'm Really Confused
Elad ,   Israel/Houston   (07.11.12)
We need to have young men sit on their behinds. When they do this they learn about nonsense like how many Rabbis can dance on the head of a pin. Then they go home, beat up women, and spit on children. I think this is where I get lost about the higher calling. Why is it that when I need to know a law I either pull it up on the computer, or I walk to the wall of the library, or I call a colleague. If I do that I also have the honor of serving my fellow Jews and my homeland. However if I sit and spit and beat then I would get to hide and have a higher calling. Oysch! My kopf iz gezint.
30. Hadad and all who hide under the guise of of Haredi..
Sas ,   Phoenix, Usa   (07.11.12)
We, as Jews, The Children of Avraham and the inheritors of the covenant, have been cited to wage war. From the time we exited Egypt and entered back into Cana'an we became a nation of warriors. Our past is the foundation of our presence and future upon this earth. A rabbi is not a leader but rather a teacher who opines, but does not command. We as a people need unity and not division. We cannot afford to allow a select few to avoid their duty, as Jews, while others sacrifice their lives and health. And then to allow those who avoided service to live off of the sweat and toil of others like lice! To respect the religious is one thing but to serve them is another....Do your part or leave Israel!!
