My family is originally from Turkey and I was born and raised there. Even in the most modern of all Muslim nations - Turkey - before there was a state of Israel, in 1941 a law passed to grossly over tax the Jews and since they did not have enough money to pay, send them to labor camps in Ashkale. As if this was not enough they sent all the younger Jews to a so called military service which really was labor camps in Afyon and Yozgat. During that time Jews lost all their belongings up to their cooking pots and pans, carpets, furniture. Even after the law was repealed nothing was returned. This is when the largest migration of Jews out of Turkey happened. Population went from over 100 thousand to 20 thousand today. Same year (1941) Iraq expelled its Jewish population by force that was over 100 thousand. On the other hand; In Israel there are over 1 Million Israeli Jews today. In 1947 this number was a lot less than this below 500 thousand.
