1. A fine example to the Yashiva boys
Haim ,   TA   (07.12.12)
These fine young men are out there defending this country while those lazy good for nothing bone idle yashiva boys sit on their holly backsides. Well not for much longer , game over.
2. #1 Haim
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.12.12)
You are being a male chauvinist p!g Haim, no offense intended... How about giving credit to members of the opposite sex that serve proudly in our armed forces?
3. God bless these soldiers they keep all of you alive
Al   (07.12.12)
as for the yeshiva boys and their Rabbis along with their parents, that welfare teat will be taken out of your mouths and then we'll see if you'll be able to hold your own. Schnorrer day is coming to an end. When that day comes oh baby are you going to cry a river.
4. #1Haim
Levy ,   Jerusalem   (07.12.12)
Haim you would be very surprised to know how many of those fine young men are actual Yeshiva boys
5. Good one #4! As to # 3: Correction
Israeli 2   (07.12.12)
It is God that keeps us and the soldiers alive. As for the Yeshiva boys: They pray every day to God asking Him to keep us and these soldiers alive and well.
6. #2 Front line infantry combat is for males.
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.12.12)
Women would be a total liability and even if you think otherwise facts prove U wrong. They are not as strong as men .Imagine a womann carrying a wounded men on her shoulders. It's enough to have to fight an enemy without having to worry about women . This not (yet) the US
7. To Sarah @ #2!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (07.12.12)
God bless the woman, but be assured, no women were involved in that contest. A woman cannot physically match a man in that type of situation. Like in the US Navy Seals; no freaking way a woman (most men can't) can make them...that includes J. I. Jane. So, I don't want to hear it from you liberal feminists; although, I know I will. I better get my flak-jacket and helmet on. Sorry...but, that's the truth; live with it. God bless the military men and women! We need them both!!!
8. @2 Sarah B: Another one
PaulZion ,   Israel   (07.12.12)
Here is another point we agree on. There is no reason why women cannot fill essential roles in the army and make an important contribution to Israel's security, including on the battlefield. Some do, and successfully, too. You don't need bulging muscles or testosterone to fire a tank shell, or an anti-aircraft missile. Same goes for flying a jet or a helicopter. And as for infantry? Why the hell not? They have a special Unisex unit that does border patrols. With the advent of technology, more and more roles are opening up for women in battle units - and I say, Right on! BTW, my son is going into Nahal Brigade in 3 weeks. Hope je will fare better in fitness than those that partook in this competition!
9. apology in order.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (07.12.12)
Excuse me Haim, my son is both a yeshiva boy and a paratrooper.

clearly you have never fired a tank shell or anti-aircraft missile, and never served in infantry.

The guy didn't say ANYTHING against women! You sound like a chauvinist-feminist pig to me;no offense intended......

ID 3787726. Infantry commander. I have the beret to prove it. Served in Lebanon during the First Lebanon war, as well as Ramaklla, Shchem and Gaza. I carried antitank missiles RPG on my back before I became a commander. I have also helped load tank missiles when we were on a joint base in Lebanon. So, apologise.
13. Give it a rest, Sarah
The Prophetess ,   FL, USA   (07.12.12)
We're long past the ban-the-bra, et. al., movements of the '70's, so give it a rest, Sarahleh. Remember that idiotic Demi Moore movie: G.I. Jane, in which Demi takes on her massive Sarge in a match-up? Yeah. Right. Men have been endowed by G-d with muscle mass and endurance that help them to perform as Men; whereas G-d designed us women for the carrying and nurturing of babies. Celebrate the Difference, Sarah, and say "Kol HaKavod" to these brave, outstanding Maccabees.

Nahal Haredi which yeshiva boys serve in is part of the Kfir Brigade and those yeshiva boys serve in combat so how do you know non of them were taking part in these competitions? How about the Tel Aviv secular draft dodgers? With Tal Law reform for the most part its not even the yeshiva boys themselves, most would be willing to serve if the law was changed obligating them. The real problem is the religious parties and the Rebbe's of the more radical haredi sects. Sure alot of these guys chose not to serve right now because the law gives them a choice so they would rather be at yeshiva studying Torah but if the law was changed they would accept it. How about giving the haredi a break for a change?

Naftali   (07.12.12)
I agree with Sarah and Haim Kol Hakavod to the men and women of Tzahal. No Kavod whatsoever to the mishtamtim, whoever they are.

Sarah Feminism doesn't make a woman as strong as a man. When it comes to physical fitness women cannot compete with men and so I think its safe to say there wasn't a single woman taking part in this contest. Women are capable and do things like fly F16s. I know somebody whose daughter enlisted last year and she is serving with Unit 8200 who are like the top intelligence unit in the IDF so I don't think anybody would say the women are not as smart as men but you have to admit there are certain jobs nature made men better suited to.
17. Those who serve
Golani ,   Vineland, USA/Israel   (07.12.12)
There are many religious and non religious invividuals who serve and those that somehow get out of serving. Although I served proudly many years ago in a combat unit, I had the honor to serve, and command many soldiers who were religious and many who were not. Although we all joked around, we all got along. Some of the finest combatants that served with me were orthodox and learned in Yeshivot. I have amazing respect for them and I lack the respect for those that try to get out of their service.
18. Congratulations to all men women religious or not ..........
Asher ,   NY,USA   (07.13.12)
19. @Haim As long as ...
Baruch ,   NY, Kyiv, Akko   (12.17.12)
Congrats to ALL of our troops (a nod to Sarah B) but Haim, don't expect to see a lot of Yeshiva students in uniform anytime soon --and certainly not while Bibi is in power.
20. #5....Israeli - correction
Baruch ,   NY, Kyiv, Akko   (12.17.12)
You can bet our people in uniform pray at least as much as those who spend their days "learning" rather than doing.
