Rosenbaum's activities are clearly illegal under current law, yet the law does provide for blood donors to be compensated. Why should there be a material difference?
Clearly, if the purchase and sale of organs were legalized, brokers such as Rosenbaum would be put out of business. The problem we have is that the demand for kidneys far exceeds the supply, especially in Israel.
Would it be better to use the Chinese model, where kidneys are extracted from convicts just prior to their execution?
