1. arab's best enemies are Arabs themselves
mary_of_bethany ,   singapore   (07.14.12)
Arab's worst enemies are Arab's themselves. Arab's favourite victims are Arab's themselves. Arab's kill the most Arabs themselves. after kicking the jews, they are turn to kick their own neighbors, their own enemies sects, their own political rivals (it is at this time, the world including UN and EU will silently turn their heads away.... including the medias suddenly loss interest in ME affairs).... then they tired of killing themselves, they will turn back to the BIG Root of World's Woe (Israel), and the Medias turn attention back to Israel automatically to focus on IDF kicking arabs' butts again..... the cycle goes on..... (who really cares how many syrians killed by Assad... actually who really cares?) the "victims" rebels are not innocent nice guys, if they hold power, they will be another "muslim brotherhood" Pro-Gazans radicals thugs-in-power.... nothing good comes out of Syria.

assad's father ruled syria with an iron grip, subjected all h is sons to extreme indoctrination and then got him and MD in London based on connections. Yet assad and some of his alawites are quite anxious being a minority shiite sect in Syria and are fighting tooth and nail used iran's hezbollah fighters of killing and torturing people into cowing the population into submission. and they yet may succeed. By the way, this is the model that putin is unleashing on his people since he seems unable to relinquish power and retire with millions in his swiss bank account. Assad may yet survive for a few years after which he would probably flee to saudi arabia to avoid european extradition for war crimes,

Putin - and in general sense - Russians are foremost nationalists with strong patriotic feeling. The "swiss bank account" scheme is more prevalent among Westerners and 3-rd. world dictators than among the Russian political class. While I am not Russian but my perception is that Putin is liked by most Russians and he did not "unleash" anything on his people. Final word: forget the old axiom according to which West is Good, East is Evil. Sometimes the reverse is equally true. I am sure the wise King Solomon would agree with it.

Your posts are excellent, but this time I think you've forgotten something. The Saudis consider Alawi subhuman, only a little better than Jews. If they can, the Saudis will kill Assad, not because murder of civilians they consider normal behavior, but because he is kaffir. If Assad flees, he will flee to Iran, North Korea or South America. As for threatening Israel, Assad has no choice. If he uses the chemical weapons against Sunni he will give Obama the excuse to Gadaffi him. Assad will try to defeat the Sunni with conventional weapons. If defeat is imminent he will attack Israel, to portray the Saudis as Zionists.

Don't also forget that China is heavily dependent on the Middle East for its own oil. As long as the US & NATO Navys can close China's supply routes, both Western powers will hold a valuable cudgel that could be employed in the event of a crisis. David V. Dafinoiu AGT Intelligence

Only Russian nationals have the right answer about Putin. What we do know however that Western financed NGO-s infiltrate every nation which are not under the full control of shadowy leftist groups. These groups are advancing an array of agendas, from sexual to social and political. Their goal is to subvert the prevailing order: you can see their insidious works in Israel and in many other country too. As soon as Putin puts a stop on them the Human Right Watch - a Soros organization - issues a condemnation. Our common sense tells us that the USA initiated Russia-China bashing is equally suspect. We don't know the truth: the N.Y. Times won't tell us.
8. If Assad flees anywhere
steve from raleigh   (07.15.12)
It will be to Britain. His wife is a British subject and he still carries a British passport. And the UK government would love to have him and his money where he could fund a building at the London School of Economics. Assad will be fine.

Iran Are they REALLY in support of Assad? Think back ywo years when Assad in Iranian Political Circles was regarded as a 'joke' patronised and condescendingly referred to as the 'giraffe' The Iranian Regime have NO INTEREST in Assad and never had. Its very simple they WANT SYRIA...WITHOUT OR WITHOUT ASSAD. And they want to have Syria BADLY. And should Assad go....they will use Hezbollah under the guise of 'creating stability' (remember Syrias invasion of Lebanon?) to go into Syria full pelt to take control That will pit Iran and Hezbollah full frontal against the rest of Free Syria and their backers in the rest of the Arab World But if push came to shove...where would Putin stand? Quite apart from Syria though...there is an eqaully important dimension to The Iranian Regimes IMMEDIATE plans Most CONSERVATIVE calculations indicate that any prolonged deepening sanctions will become INTOLERABLE. Hence they have already fine tuned their plans to BUST sanctions...the Military are just waiting for orders. The plan is to simply 'POLICE' the Straits by turning back ALL 'unfriendly' shipping. This they have calculated would drive oil prices to $250pb - which would EXPLODE sanctions within days But added to that they would enforce their 'legal rights and claims' on the Arabian Gulf and Bahrein as Iranian Territory and officially and formally cease ALL further negotiations on Nuclear Issues Has Irans Regime bitten of more than it can chew..is this the last gasp of a dying Regime...or a brilliantly concieved military thinking?

12. A STUPIDLY SHALLOW AND MYOPIC LEADER, HE WILL BLAME ISRAEL
JEWISH DOCTOR ,   ATLANTA GA USA   (07.16.12)
ASSsad will always blame the JEWISH PEOPLE for his miserable failure as a 'LEADER'. His low level of intelligence, his insular lifestyle and his daddy's murderousness (30,000+ citizens butchered) methods have produced the HIGH IDIOT of the ME... BEWARE of his desparation, myopia and just follow the path of Mubarak, saddam, gadafy, to the WORLD COURT and hangman's noose.
