We all know how Russia and China feel, and that is not an obstacle that can be overcome. NATO, on the other hand, needs neither Russian or Chinese approval. If the United States and other NATO members are serious about stopping the bloodletting in Syria, that is the route to take. With the added benefit of leaving both Russia and China out in the cold -- not to mention Iran. I don't see any of those countries challenging NATO, and a NATO presence will dash Russia's dream of a toehold in the Mediterranean, which is all they really care about, anyway.
