1. Lapid has been the biggest winner
zionist forever   (07.17.12)
When Mofaz joined Bibi giving him a coalition large enough to serve a full term Lapid was furious because the longer he had to wait the more his popularity would wane. Now Lapid will not only get his early elections but the circumstances will be a gift to him. Shas are not concerned about the age of enlistment is 22 or 26 they want the Tal Law itself reinstated. Bibi obviously can't do that and the coalition will fall with Bibi looking like a haredi stooge and Lapid will play on that. There is the social justice issue, again Bibi hasn't done enough the reasons why don't matter to the protestors only the fact they didn't get what they want and once again Lapid will play on that. It really wouldn't surprise me if after the next elections Lapid controlled the second largest party or God forbid was even PM because the man is a master manipulator and the biggest loser will be the country as Lapid keeps manipulating situations for the sake of his own career not the countries best interest.
2. I also called for early elections (a few months ago)
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.17.12)
... but neither I nor Lapid have the power to dissolve the Knesset or hold elections.
3. Lapid is not yet a winner
Freddy ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.17.12)
We have a coalition of 94 MKs, 29 MKs from Kadima leave.......we remain with a coalition of 65 MKs..still a majority. Unless Israel Beitenu decides to leave also, there is no risk for the actual coalition....and Lapid can wait.
4. Nyet !
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (07.17.12)
The bridge of the ship does not need a constant changing of the captain and crew. Israelis are conditioned to constant change and flux in the politcal realm but if short termism becomes the norm you are left with leadership that prefers the urgent to the important. The Knesset can take on more of an administrative role now and in the future whilst another chamber can set the long term vision, philosophy and orientation for Israel. The election should be held on or after the 22nd Oct. 2013.
5. Let's hope we've become more mature and won't fall prey to
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.17.12)
simple manipulators a la Lapid....
6. Yair in nothing more than an opportunist looking for a ride!
shadoil ,   Jerusalem   (07.17.12)
7. I've said it mant many times Netanyahu is a two time loser
Al   (07.17.12)
This dude is so thick it would take a jackhammer to pound some sense into his head. He could have easily dumped the Shasdreck and the other uber orthoquack schnorrers, rallied the people behind him and stayed on as PM till after the next American elections. But nooo being the brightlight he is, he will now lose the Primiership and Obama couldnt be happier. Clinton and Carville got him out in 1999 by promoting that dumb ass Barak. Today Lapid will be promoted by Obama and guess who..James Carville all over again.
8. Power hungry Lapid
Marco ,   Spain   (07.17.12)
will say anything and will take advantage of any situation to force himself into politics
9. After the elections: Hey, Lapid, I voted for you
"oh, it was you..."   (07.17.12)
The man has less support than he imagines.
10. Lapid should stick to reading the news let the big boys
David ,   Israel   (07.17.12)
handle the politics. Bibi has done plenty good in his terms as prime minister and despite his failings, his experience has given him greater judgement then a news reporter who only knows the game from the spectator stands
11. Netanyahu
Bart ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (07.17.12)
is the worst PM Israel has ever got. And the riligious parties have far too much power. They're destroying Israel.
12. to no.11 Israel hasnt been strongly and solid like today
(07.18.12)
BIBI is not going to be driven by the nose by Mofas or by Lapid, he will stick to his principles, so far so good. Most o the people in Israel back this government. REmemebre BIBI did not aski MOfaz to Join it was Mofas who wanted. Mofas wants a breathe of air, because if elections were held now Kadima is going down the Drain and Nataniahu and Likud will increase the seats in the Kneset. Wishful thinking of the leftists that Mofas quiting harmed BIBI
13. 7 Al Bibi doesn t make sparks fly...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.18.12)
but he is a genius in keeping balance between parties who have opposite interests. Doing so he could avoid major crisis situations.
14. To Yair Lapid
R ,   Israel   (07.18.12)
Since there is nobody to vote for anyway, in order to consider voting for you I needs to hear what changes you plan to make and how you plan to make them.
15. Terrible history repeating itself
Rube Vogel ,   Israel   (07.18.12)
Jews are right now commemorating the period of the temples destruction and the Jewish exile. Once again there are those amongst us more interested in bashing their brothers than in National defense. Lapid, still consumed by his fathers shadow, is a Greek tragedy waiting to happen.
