1. Has it occurred to anyone ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.24.12)
.... that the best way to neutralize a threat is to eliminate it before it materializes?
2. Re:#1-The Threat Comes From All Sides; How Does One Deal W/it
Alina S. ,   New York   (07.24.12)
#1 says to deal with "A" threat, as if there would ostensibly just ONE missile. If the threat comes from ALL sides, including the sea, how would you then deal with it, Sarah B?

Get some rest, woman, ask your shrink to prescribe you something that'll calm you down, Gosh,...
4. To nr 1 Absolutely right Sarah
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.25.12)
Israel needs to eliminate the threats before they actually materialize. Sun Tzu who wrote the Art of War said that the best way to avoid a big war is to fight a small war or to attack the ploys and plots before they are materialized. It seems our leadership either consists of cowards or morons.
5. To nr 2 - Not doing anything is even worse
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.25.12)
Instead of waiting to be bombarded by missiles, its better to launch preemptive strikes against Israel's neighbors. For example if Israel would flatten Iran, Lebanon, Hezbollah, Hamas and Syria to the ground they would pose no threat no more. It's not enough to establish that "they have the weapons and we are in deep sh*t". Instead - establish they have the weapons and act. But it's not enough to destroy the weapons. You need to destroy their economy as well. Without funds they can't build new missiles and rockets. But it's not enough either. You need to attack the people that build the missiles, develop them or keep them in storage facilities. But that's not enough either. You need to attack the people that give them the orders - the generals and the governments. Israel needs to take out the military and political command and create anarchy in those countries. Hopefully that will work. And if it won't work, Israel would have to wipe out the enemies of Israel. Cruel? Not more cruel then letting the enemies kill hundreds of thousands or millions of Jews with WMD. How to deal with the enemies from all sides? I suggest Israel attacks them first and take them out one by one until Israel is no longer surrounded. It's just simple logic.
6. What's your ethnicity split?

That Tel Aviv may be deserved of such treatment. Can someone give the coordinates of Sheinkin Street I mean lets be honest here, didnt TA invite this? They so rejoiced in kicking jews out of their homes in Gush Katiff, they so invited the arabs to launch missiles, they gave them the platforms of former jewish homes to do so.......only they never thought for a moment it could reach them. Its fine if other parts of the country gets hit, I mean who cares right? provided the elites of TA are not exposed. So hey I wont be shedding any tears for TA, anyone know where Meretz HQ is? They should get the first one, you know like a present for the deserving.

that the sailor was The Wandering Jew, as he never came again. But he prefers to believe it was some holy ghost from croatia. Thus his conflictual personality. Don't bother him, he's suffering enough already.
9. so the state of Tel Aviv will experience reality at last
zionist forever   (07.25.12)
So far Tel Aviv has been a safe little enclave out of the reach of missiles and they had a long time now without experiencng terror attacks. Now looks like they may realise there is a real world out there where there are bigger things to worry about than men setting themselves on fire and Daphne Leef being unable to afford a decent apartment in the 17th most expensive city in the world. It also shows there is a need to change planning laws which now allow the owners of older buildings to convert the bomb shelters into apartments make a little extra money.
10. Arrow not mentioned
Matt ,   Israel   (07.25.12)
It wasn't mentioned in the article, but the Arrow ABM system should provide adequate protection from missiles with a range above 200KM. A single interceptor has a 90% probability of intercepting a target. In case of failure, another 2 missiles can be launched towards the target raising the interception rate to 99.9%. This would cover all of Iran's long range missiles and most of Syria's scuds. For missiles with a range from 70 to 200KM Israel is still vulnerable which the Davids Sling system should address in the coming years.

Look at the advantages for the left if the city is hit by a missile. If buildings are damaged or destroyed then everybody can put up tents and Leef can give them speeches about how they are in their tents for social justice not because of missiles. I imagine the leftists will also be blaming Bibi for not doing enough to advance the peace process and and telling us if he did the arabs would throw every last bullet the posses into the ocean and Israel would be their best friend in all the world and they would love us. I imagine they will even tell Obama force Bibi to make peace and Al Quaida will start waving the American flag and singing Allah bless America.
12. #7 and #9
Helene ,   Tel Aviv   (08.11.12)
Thank you both for posting... It has been a long time since I read such comments. For your information, I, a holocaust survivor, spent 40 nights with my gas mask on in a shelter down my street when Irak sent us a few scuds. #7 according to you, I and many other residents in Tel Aviv deserve such a treatment because we spent our time in Shenkin ??!! I would not want a friend like you, nor a son, nor a neighbour. You make me puke. Next war we may all be in the same boat, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Sderot and you name it. #9 "there are bigger things to worry about than men setting themselves on fire".... you can be proud of yourself. I am seating here in front of my computer and I am crying. Thank you for making my evening
