1. Romney's Visit to Israel
ltrail ,   United States   (07.28.12)
The visit to Israel by Romney is extremely significant and will have ramification on the upcoming USofA elections. He we see a Presidential candidate visiting Israel even before being elected. Then we see an a sitting President who bypassed Israel (the only democracy in the ME) to visit Egypt. The present President is demonstrating his own wishes instead of those of those who he represents. I sincerely hope that even the most liberal Jews, living in the USofA, realize what is the better good for their country, and not tow the political party line.
2. MR ROMNEY WELCOME AND
DA RAP ARTIST ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (07.28.12)
Twice welcome to Israel.
3. G-d willing the next US President!!!!
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (07.28.12)
Following Hussein Obama anybody would be an improvement, but, Mitt has all the indications of a good friend. This is not his first visit, he has known our PM for over 30 years, he likes Israel.....he could be one of the best Presidents we have ever seen both for America and for Israel.
4. Get ready for the Court Jews' wrath!
Tom W ,   USA   (07.28.12)
It's going to be interesting to see as the leftist anti-Israel Obama-Jews, the N.Y. Times, Jstreet, Soros etc. -- in collusion with the radical antisemites -- start the poisonous conniption against Romney. Watch the Left and Islamists: They're United in Hate.
5. Romney headed to Israel.
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav.   (07.28.12)
Be very very careful what you wish for, it might just backfire.
6. Welcome
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.28.12)
We are a warm people. American Jews do not vote a single issue. The sitting POTUS has a proven record of cooperating with the State of Israel despite our having an offensive PM and despite the efforts of the right wing nuts to delegitimize him. A strong moral USA is the best thing for Israel.
7. Well if Romney's visit to London
Ivor Biggergun   (07.28.12)
is anything to go by. The former 100 metre gold medallist summed it up. Some Americans should not be allowed to leave the country. Rumour is he is going to give Americans a stark choice by promising to go to war against Iran on behalf of Israel in pursuit of the Jewish vote. The question is will he lose just s many from other sections of the American electorate in what is a war weary nation.
8. #5 well said, but...
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (07.28.12)
You are right, how Romney might behave to Israel is unknown, but remember: Obama has been a terrible president for the US. His bumbling incompetence has led to tens of thousands of deaths, mostly innocent Muslim civilians. Romney could hardly be worse.
9. Mr.Romney is a decent...
Gideon Reader   (07.28.12)
...clear thinking competent and skilled gentleman with firm and fixed views on what is right and what is wrong; and what it means to be pro America American; who knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. There is no Frank Marshal Davis in Romney's background. No Alinsky bolshevisim and racist community organising social justice scams at the expense of everyone else. Eomney is just a decent and competent businessman, who is sorely needed by Americal a reeling nation after the mis management and slimey unethical kleptocracy more attuned to sub Saharan Africa than a western nation. No bowing and apoligizing for being sucessful and hard working; and able to enjoy the fruits of that self made success. He is needed.
10. # 6
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (07.28.12)
I agree welcome to Israel. I also agree that American Jews do not vote just Israel. Well, THIS right wing American Jew who lives part time in Israel WILL vote for Romney for multiple reasons. a. I do not endorse Obama care b. I think Obama is only interested in increasing entitlement programs and decreasing the working middle class. ( who he is only able to insult) c. Obama, a former "community worker" has surrounded himself with ignorant advisors d. Obama is a disaster when it comes to foreign policy. He has made the US a laughing stock of the entire world. His mid-East policy is in shambles and his attitude towards Israel is only one small piece, BTW I am tired of being accused of voting ONLY for my attitude on Israel. I am smarter and bigger than that!
11. Mitt the Twit
NY Jew   (07.28.12)
He will embrace Haredim, the neo fascist Lieberman and make one state noises. The Israeli opposition and all of tel aviv will be publicly outraged. The western media will pick up on it and he will please no one except Sheldon.
12. Mitt happens...
Persian CAT   (07.28.12)
Israel and Mitt deserve each other. An insignificant American with very slim chance for being elected as the US president visiting an insignificant out post of outdated Western colonialism that exists on money taken out of the American tax payers pocketbooks (See the photo about the "military aid" included in this article. Do you think the American people will ignore such largess at their own expense?! I think not.
13. welcome
marcelo oppel ,   israel   (07.28.12)
hoping you'll be the next REAGAN,enjoy your stay in israel
14. Pollard
Avram Malek ,   Dolev Israel   (07.28.12)
If Romney promises to release Pollard I will vote for him and many of my friends will as well. If he does not promise now, he will probably not free Pollard, so most Jews in Israel will not vote for him.
15. #11 NY Shrew
Lina ,   US   (07.28.12)
You're obviously very threatened by Romney's power and popularity. Just wait until he picks Marco Rubio as VP.
16. If he really cared about Israel...
Laura ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.29.12)
He wouldn't have come on Tisha B'AV. He should have shown some sensitivity on our day of mourning. I hope the day comes when we stop depending on the USA and depend only on Gd.

"...I hope the day comes when we stop depending on the USA depend only on Gd...". Who wants to live forever?
18. Barack Obama and Israel
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (07.29.12)
When Barack Obama took the oath of office on the steps of the Capital he swore to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I don't recall his oath of office to do everything the current right wing government of Israel demands, but yet, to Israelis and right wing Jews in America, Obama is the enemy. What kind of enemy increases aid to Israel at a time millions of Americans have lost their jobs and their homes? What kind of enemy has the military and intelligence cooperation between Israel and America at its highest point in history, and what kind of enemy has protected Israel the U.N. each and every time? Obama is not and never was the enemy of Israel. When Barack Obama was running for President he made the statement that "The Palestinians have suffered too." You might have thought he called Hitler a great man, because the outcry from pro Israeli groups was thunderous. How dare he say the Palestinians have also suffered? He spoke the truth and was blasted far and wide for telling the truth. Yes, the Palestinians have had inept, corrupt and terror supporting leaders, but the Israelis have subjugated an entire people and treated them as less than human. The occupation has drained Israel of its soul and caused most Israelis to look at Palestinians as beneath them. They don't believe that Palestinians have any rights whatsoever and incredibly believe that they will either all move to other Arab countries or accept being occupied. If Jews were treated the way Israel treats the Palestinians there would be protests everywhere with pressure for our government to intervene. American Jews who voted for Obama are called self haters and traitors. All of this is because Obama refuses to march in lockstep with the Israeli government and has called for a settlement freeze. The continued expropriation of Palestinian land has been illegal not only under international law, but is also the official policy of America for the past forty years. There is no thought given to the fact that unless there is a two State solution soon the number of Arabs will greatly exceed the number of Jews living on the land and Israel will have to choose between being an occupier or an apartheid State. Instead of being called the enemy for wanting a two State solution, Obama should be called a friend for stating the facts known to all that the future demography is not in Israels favor. Obama is not the enemy. He has agreed to every Israeli request for weapons, financial aid, and protection at the U.N. as well as had the toughest sanctions ever on Iran. After a war with Iraq that cost the lives of 5,000 Americans with more than 35,000 badly wounded, and a financial cost of more than a trillion dollars, Obama is correct in not beating the drums of war for a conflict with Iran. The Israeli government on the other hand is bringing the region to the brink of a dangerous war that will not be limited to the Middle East. Obama's first responsibility is the safety and security of the United States of America and not any other country. He was not elected Prime Minister of Israel. For all those who criticize him and call him the enemy of Israel perhaps you need to look in the mirror to see who the real enemy is. The Palestinians have suffered too and so have the Israelis but the fault lies not with America or our President but with the leadership of the two peoples. Perhaps Israelis and the right wing in America will get their wish and Romney will win in November. You will have your war with Iran and the Palestinians will continue to be occupied. Will that make Israel more secure or is a President who has done almost everything you have asked and who is prodding you to be aware of the catastrophe that awaits you unless you change your policies your real friend and the best hope for a secure and lasting peace for all the peoples of the Middle East?

24. Who can take Romney seriously?
Gunnar ,   Gthenburg, Sweden   (07.29.12)
A man so completely without principles and opinions, born billioinaire and not having had to struggle a single day of his life, does not deserve to speak on America's behalf.

The canard – supported by countless United Nations General Assembly Resolutions – that Jewish settlements in the West Bank are illegal in international law is totally wrong. The San Remo Conference held in Italy in April 1920 was the Committee’s starting point. That Conference had laid the grounds for the eventual creation of the Mandate for Palestine as part of a Mandate system involving the disposition of vast tracts of territory held by the Ottoman Empire for 400 years – but lost by it following its defeat in World War I . Whilst Arab self-determination was to occur in 99.99% of the captured territory – the right of the Jewish people to reconstitute the Jewish National Home was limited to the remaining 0.01%. of that territory. In August 1922 the League of Nations approved the Mandate which was given to Britain, and thus the Jewish people’s right to settle anywhere in the Land of Israel, their historic homeland, and to establish their state there, was recognized in international law. To complete the picture, we’ll add that with the establishment of the United Nations in 1945, the principle of recognizing the validity of existing rights of states acquired under various mandates, including of course the rights of Jews to settle in the Land of Israel by virtue of the above documents, was determined in article 80 of its charter”

30. After Romney loses, then what?
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (07.29.12)
Right now, Romney is losing the electoral college vote by 50 points and the 538 blog shows only a 33% chance Romney will win, intrade.com shows Romney at a slightly higher 43% chance of winning. The 538 blog and Intrade have been very good at predicting the outcome of the US presidential election for many years. Not only that but many key Republican doners are so convinced that Romney is a loser, they are shifting their money to the Senate and Congressional races to try to take control of the Senate and keep control of the House. So once Romney is defeated and Israel has spit on Obama even more during the election cycle than they have the last three years, how do you think things will go? How many bridges can you burn before you figure out you are just making things worse for yourself?
