1. Israel needs lots more for future war with MB Syria/Egypt
tf ,   herzliya il   (07.29.12)
As Muslim Brotherhood comes to full ascendency in Egypt and takes over Syria as they appear poised to do. Given the Muslim Brotherhoods violent history, antisemitic rhetoric and wholesale commitment to the violent eradication of Israel, war is inevitable and it will be a war unlike any Israel has ever fought before.
2. I smell a backdoor deal here....
Vlad   (07.29.12)
Channel 2 recently reported that the US was convinced Israel would attack Iran in October, before the US elections. Obama could have done this as part of a backdoor deal, where Israel agrees to put off a strike, at least until the elections.
3. Oh my dear!
Mira ,   Vienna   (07.29.12)
The Muslim countries (including the Big Sultan, he at the most!) wil not be amused at all!
4. Thank you Senate and Congress.
Alan ,   SA   (07.29.12)
5. P5.1 & Ashton are back-stabbing Israel
Ted Dexter   (07.29.12)
P5.1 & Ashton are back-stabbing Israel. Its been confirmed by journalists privy to the P5.1 talks that even though the talks are dead, the process is being being kept alive & dragged on indefinitely through "expert-level talks" and other such technicalities by Ashton solely to prevent an Israeli strike. Netanyahu and Ehud Barak should note the P5.1 devious tactics and take action against Iran on their own.
6. More time wasting
(07.29.12)
Will take years to get such tankers from USA. Meanwhile, Iran strikes again and again. So what do Obama, Ashton, Meir Dagan and their peacenik & liberal friends say now ? Wait till the mushroom clouds bloom over Tel Aviv and Israel, and still keep yapping "all options are still on the table".
7. its ISRAEL thats being fooled.
(07.29.12)
For everyone's benefit, its ISRAEL thats being fooled. There is a huge nexus that has formed between Obama, Europe & Iran under the leadership of crafty Ashton to create an illusion that the problem is being solved to prevent an Israeli attack. All of them benefit if there is no war while Israel alone loses when Iran gets the bomb. Netanyahu should go ahead and attack immediately before its too late.
8. Fat lot of good this will do us if...
Ariel ,   Modi'in   (07.29.12)
... we are limited to refueling our planes in Israeli airspace!! We need access to airports close to where the action is going to be. If not, our Jerichos will have to be used to get the job done!!!
9. How about a few F-22's while we are about it?
Ariel ,   Modi'in   (07.29.12)
10. A show case for the campaign. Well as long as it is
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (07.29.12)
Benefitial, who cares. REmind me of TRuman he was not so eager but the Electoral campaign and the Repubican and Jewish Lobby made him cede in favor of Israel. So be it.
11. An act of desperation
(07.29.12)
This is an act of desperation by barack obama to win jewish votes. He should av done this since his day one in office, until ds lxt hour when it like another friendly jewish president will emerge, jews jst be wise on who u give ur votes, obama is a satanist and will nt be happy abt anything that will favour the jews, he is only doing this to get in once he does so, everything abt helping the state of isreal will be off the table. Be wise jews.
12. Useless criticism
Nicholas ,   Lagos Nigeria   (07.29.12)
Anyone saying this is politics. Of course, it is politically motivated as well as his belief that Israel must maintain the upper hand in security in the region. However, it is also good to note that no American president since the 40s that did not promote alliance with Israel without politics at the back of his mind. Everyone wants the jewish vote so does Obama. Romney's trip to Israel is also about the Jewish vote.
13. What a waste ....
A. Qirresh ,   Jerusalem   (07.29.12)
Instead of using this amount of money to promote peace and protect our planet for generations to come, we care most for weapons that kill people and destroy our planet. But of course, each US president has to dance a bit at the Jewish lobby and Israel, otherwise he's done.
14. Militaristic Client State (Israel)
mohamed ,   algeria   (07.29.12)
The last thing US military Ind. Complex wants to hear about is palestinians making peace with Israel, when Iran secretly proposed to bless the palestianian peace deal as part of nuke negotiations, it was swiftly & predictibly turned down with no explanations (in secret obviously) That unholy alliance will not be bailed out the way car manufacturers and banks have, instead they want zillions worth of contracts to start raining down before someone begins to question whether Iran is indeed a "rational actor" with nuke technology (... a technology with proliferation potential which will never ever decrease, precisely just like the second of thermodynamics ) PEACE
15. thought "Israel" wants peace ..!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.29.12)
16. #15 'to ensure peace; prepare for war." Also, welcome back
Henry from New York ,   Currently in Israel   (07.29.12)
Salma.
17. aftermath
chad ,   U.S.A.   (07.29.12)
What Israel and it's people need to wonder is what happens in the aftermath of a war with Iran. Im betting money Obama openly calls for a pal state At the cost of Israel's security
18. What's the use? Every Israeli VICTORY "NULLIFIED" by the US.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (07.29.12)
19. #16 thank you, Henry :)
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.29.12)
and thank you for the brilliant advice "to ensure peace; prepare for war".
20. Legislation and implementation.....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (07.29.12)
I don't have high expectations about this administration. Obama and Panetta are not friends of Israel in any way. Remember what Obama said: "Israel is a second term issue".
21. 19
zionist forever   (07.29.12)
Prepare for war hope for peace. Pacifists lose and more often than not get killed, people who are willing to fight win and survive. Golda once said the Jews who died during the Holocaust will be the last ones who die without fighting back. All these weapons ensure fighting back is always an option.
22. Legislation makes supply legal...IAF can "borrow" from USAF?
NudNik69   (07.29.12)
As mentioned, will take years to actually get the tankers. So, maybe in the interim Israel can 'borrow' some until the order is delivered.
23. Use 'em to attack Iran? Not before 2015
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.29.12)
Crikey. This "allows" Israel to purchase the tankers. Delivery time? Uh, do you think they have them sitting on the shelf at $40 million each? Plus spare parts? And training time for Israeli pilots? The earliest this could be used for an attack on Iran would be what, 2015?
24. Salma
Corey ,   Canada   (07.29.12)
Do you seriously expect a country to make peace with you when you put its name in quotes? Israel does want peace, but how can you honestly expect it to make peace when the other side (you) doesn't even accept its existence?
25. Send this guns Now.Before IrĂ£n do the bomb.
ROSENVALD ,   BRASIL   (07.29.12)
26. Bribery. Pure bribery.
Israeli ,   Haifa   (07.29.12)
Not surprized this is coming out publically on the 9th of Av. #4, why thank them? It will be years , years TOO LATE before we get them. And, its all a bribe to keep us from acting in our own best interests. I hope Bibi sees this ruse.
27. A reality check for the Mullahs. The bombs &planes are ready
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.29.12)
28. KC 135 modified but very old planes
zionist forever   (07.29.12)
Although they have been through upgrades over the years these tankers are old. The last KC 135 was built in 1965 and so whilst they have been modified to give them a longer service life these are still very old planes so what is it going to cost to maintain them and how many flying hours can we get out them without any expensive major upgrades? We may have been better off getting Boeing to build a tanker to Israeli specifications using a current model of plane. Its not a dedicated tanker like the KC135 but its a new plane ( not a retiring passenger jet ) so cheaper to maintain and will get more flying time out of it. Any tankers Israel buys will have been in use by the USAF for many years so will probably seen more than their fair share of use. it might be cheap to buy surplus KC135s but long term was it the best choice economically ?
29. I watched it on channel 10
Stella ,   paris   (07.29.12)
He did not show the smallest indication of a friendly smile and it semed to me that I could hear his teeth grinding! Don't trust this Islamist with his African-Muslim background in any way. I am not a big fan of Romney, but anyone would be better than hypocritical OBAMA.
30. IDF my ass
Adam ,   USA   (07.29.12)
Its simpler than that. Israel just needs to hide under the skit of US as usual to save itself.
