2. separate religion from state

save hundreds of millions of dollars wasted on maintaing a Haredi controlled State religious apparatus. Why should tax paying money go to a fanatic sect that does NOT represent either Israeli or Diaspora Jews??!

#2 is sooo right. But savings should go further - no income subsidies or support UNLESS it is shown that employment is actively being seekd and not longer than a year. Cut child subsidies - free kindergarten coming, no Yeshiva student payments, national service for Haredim to help with low cost, but essential services. Come on - everybody should be equal.

Sooner or later, an accounting of the money spent on the settlements must be made. Who is making money profiting from the exuberant nationalism and messianic fervor of settlers? I suspect the amounts would be enormous and far more than cover any budgetary shortfalls. The settlers may be idealistic. I doubt that the contractors building roads, schools and housing are similarly idealistic. They are getting rich, and probably see the settlers as suckers. As usual, the real question is cui bono -- who profits. In the sixties and seventies, contractors made fortunes building the Bar Lev line. Now they build in Judea and Samaria. The results will be similar. The Haredim also receive far more than they contributr, but compared to Judea and Samaria, the amounts are minor.
