1. This is Great step
Naftali ,   Seattle, WA   (08.07.12)
This is Israel's great step into integrating religious and secular and one day there will be no more barriers of secular and religious and all extremist of both sides will be no more.
2. Good idea that chilonim get some Jewish education
Samuel   (08.07.12)
In a Jewish country chilonim have no excuse for being illiterate in Torah, in Halacha, in Gemara and anything Jewish.
3. Does that mean enforced gender segregation?
Ze'ev   (08.07.12)
4. Probably only talking about modern orthodox schools

because haredi schools will never accept chilonim.

(08.07.12)
and destroying religious Jews.
6. Will this force non-jewish israeli to attend judaism classes
How about it   (08.07.12)
Will this cause further percecustion and separation of jews & non-jews. Is there governement (tax-payer) money helping Christian & Moslem schools. In a democracy are religions are treated equally.
7. #6 Happy are all who can learn Judaism.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (08.08.12)
Judaism is actually universal because Judaism is Truth and Truth is universal and recognizable all over the world and by all Peoples, therefore, by the implementation of such system,Jews will speak our own language-in the literal and broader sense-,in Israel ,and all of those who got the opportunity to live among us can only benefit. And the whole world will benefit when Jews start speaking our own language-in the literal and broader sense- in our own country. This will spread all over the world more consistently than it has already been throughout the centuries by the influence of Jews and Jewish Thought in the world.
8. #6 Israeli gives full equality to non Jews
Mordechai   (08.08.12)
Israel has supported Muslim and Christian schools since 1948. Israel unlike the members of the Organization of Islamic states does give equal rights to the non Jewish population of Israel. Unlike Egypt which regularly kills members of its Copt minority or Saudi Arabia which outlaws the public practice of any non Islamic religion, in Israel Christians and Muslims are free, study their religion in taxpayer funded public schools, pray in taxpayer funded mosques and churches, serve in the Supreme Court and Knesset.
9. #3 Imodest dress code to continue ?
TooLittleTooLate ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.08.12)
Many of todays Israeli teens dress in such an extreme immodest way they are almost naked how can a relgious person send their kids to such an enviornment and how can secular parents not see the dangers? I believe the parents of todays secular kids are too far gone too lost to examine their lifestyle they have been brainwashed for several generations and will never change. Relgious schools are the answer we have to create from scratch a new generation of traditional Jews reeducation will not work .
10. You don't mention . . .
Danny ,   London England   (08.08.12)
You don't mention the big question. Do integrated secondary schools have parallel classes for boys and girls or mixed classes? Jewish religious teaching for teens is different for boys and girls.
11. Reply to 6. Non-Jewish Israelis
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (08.08.12)
The Israeli govt provides Arabic language schools, as well as Hebrew language schools. There are Christian schools in Israel as well. No one is forced to attend Jewish Studies classes.
