1. Still waiting for Obama to sanction BFF Turkey
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (07.31.12)
Erdogan has apparently become Obama's favorite leader in the region, and he often follows Turkey's lead, especially over Syria. Yet Turkey, according to reports published in Turkey, has helped skirt sanctions on oil sales by transferring some 60 tons of GOLD to pay for it. Where's the sanction for that! One should also note that Obama has consistently tried to water down the sanctions demanded by Congress, which he's often fought tooth-and-nail. He's provided hundreds of waivers to date. Yet another piece of legislation reached his desk in the last day or so after months of haggling between House Republicans, who wanted stronger sanctions, and Senate Democrats who wanted them weaker.
2. Bibi vs. the Brown Boobie
Yanni   (07.31.12)
Bibi says sanctions have had no effect, the Brown Boobie wants to prove him wrong, he's not one to admit he's on the wrong flight path...
3. window dressing
david ,   new york   (07.31.12)
if these sanctions were so powerful, then why hadnt he already done them. perhaps he announces one little sanction at a time in order to look as if he were actually doing something. in reality, all he is thinking about is his re-election
4. Sanctions will work against Iran, attacking will not.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.31.12)
Iran is vulnerable in its economy internally and also strategically vulnerable in the Persian Gulf. For ages Iran was on defense against Russian expansionism to the Indian Ocean and against British colonialism in the region. The fact is, Iran has bent many times to pressure from Great Powers. Their leaders' current attacks against Israel are a smoke screen geared for domestic consumption, but it hasn't been working as long as Israel keept its cool.
5. Sanctions
Ben S ,   Free World   (07.31.12)
Sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions sanctions Iran has nuke.
6. US sanctions on banks in China
Harold ,   USA   (08.01.12)
I suggest the US must not step on China's tail. China possess more than one Trilian Dollars of U.S. bonds. They can damage the U.S. economy as soon as they sell them.
7. More Of The Same B.S. All You b.H.o. Is Doing Is

So mr nobel peace prize Winner, What Happens When YOU BEAT A DEAD HORSE? Expect it to WINNIE??????
8. not truthful
calabi ,   Sydney   (08.01.12)
Recognition of Jerusalem as the True Capital of Israel matters all right......sanction is good. obama is not true lover of Israel. He politicize his position and hope Israel will cow tow to him and chicken out and lost the historical and eternal "heart" of Israel - JERUSALEM end
9. You have to ask Obama
Mansour Khakpour ,   Qom, Iran   (08.01.12)
You have to ask Obama whats the use of "10% sanctions with exemptions" ? Iran is mostly self-sufficient in food items, only few imported items like cars, gadgets etc are affected. Also has over $150 billion in cash reserves in tax-havens & gold bullion, which is enough for few years. A total naval & land blockade may have been more effective, but not such eye-wash sanctions. And since many countries are co-operating with Iran in thwarting the sanctions, they are clearly not effective. Btw, please ask Obama to show his Birth Certificate first & deport his illegal immigrant aunt residing in New York....ha ha ha ha !
10. Sanctions did not work on N.Korea
Sanctions did not work on N.Korea. The are starving & eat grass but still have the bomb. The are far more fanatical & determined than N.Korea, so how will sanctions ever stop them ??? Quite ludicrous !
11. Sorry, thats wishful thinking
Ahmed Shah ,   Iran   (08.01.12)
Sorry, thats wishful thinking ! The situation in Iran is that the sanctions are having some effect on imported luxury items, but on most commodities the prices are stable. The government is able to recieve payments through tax havens & trade through barter & cross-border smuggling with friendly countries easily. Thus hoping the regime will collapse quickly is quite far-fetched !
12. Talks have conclusively failed !
Dan Goldman   (08.01.12)
Talks have conclusively failed ! Obama & Ashton are fooling Israel by delaying tactics. The rest of the powers wanted to give Iran a watered down deal. Americans know Netanyahu will never accept this and want to prolong the talks & kick the can down the road as usual. Talks are finished, time for action is here. Netanyahu & Barak...attack now !
13. America never came to help
Dan Yadin   (08.01.12)
America never came to help during WWII despite knowing millions of Jews were being exterminated., they only entered the war when Japan attacked them. America talked peace when Saddam was building Osirak reactor, but after Israel did the hard work, was able to invade & take over Iraq easily. America is 10,000 miles from Iran, Israel is next door. America is more worried about their economy, Israel their survival. Israel - do what has to be done....before its too late.....Attack NOW !
14. The difference between Obama and Holmes?
Miron ,   USA   (08.01.12)
15. One is jobless the other one is on his way.
Miron ,   USA   (08.01.12)
16. US embargo of Japan led to Pearl Harbor, Iran may do same
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.01.12)
...but instead of starting a war, they would build nukes, where they otherwise would not, to spite their enemies for the unfair economic war on their people. Iran has no nukes now, they don't need them, unless they are attacked. don't push Iran too far, or we will all be sorry for a long long time.
17. Iran's regime should be toppled eons ago.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (08.01.12)
Sanctions on such a self-declared Nazi regime which has proclaimed genocide as its goal is plain insanity.
18. Bluf
Ali shriazi ,   Kufa, Iraq   (08.01.12)
Through bluffing Bibi is trying to confuse Iran and he ended up confusing the Israeli public .He knows that US under both parties have no stomached a war with Iran , yet he still insists on trying to delude Iran . Iran all ready passé dthe point of return not. In nuclear mastery but in its ability to stick it out .
19. Obama wants his war
fusebox5 ,   SanDiego USA   (08.01.12)
Evidently, Obama will push the price of oil into the stratosphere, before attacking Iran. This is sloppy diplomacy, but for energy investors, they expect the price of oil to skyrocket to $250 USD a barrel. Investing in oil stocks now, will undoubtedly bring profits. The war is not far off.
20. Iranians shall be increasingly desperate all the way to the
tom ,   tel aviv   (08.01.12)
21. Chinese banks
Aaron ,   Toronto,Canada   (08.01.12)
I've said this repeatedly that in order to get china away from countries like Iran or Syria you have to threaten them with business sunctions where you close business to them in the USA.They only understand the dollar.
22. Israelis will show their gracious nature in these talkbacks
Dan ,   NYC   (08.01.12)
Because they're such a grateful people. I'm sure Ynet will be flooded with posts thanking Obama for leading the world in the fight against Iran's nuclear program. After all, can anyone name a leader who had done more to confront Iran? Certainly not Israeli leaders who continue their trade with China and Russia (who have repeatedly blocked tougher sanctions and other action on Iran.) Certainly not any EU nation (which only adopted sanctions after being persuaded by the US.) Yes, Obama has done quite a bit to make life in Iran uncomfortable. And soon, it will yield results. So this would be the perfect time for Ynet talkbackers to show a little gratitude for the person who has done so much for them. Not showing appreciation would be extremely petty and selflish. You're not petty and selfish, are you?
23. Obama sanctions Iraq and China...
Kumbaya ,   US   (08.01.12)
... and if they do not stop dealing with Iran, Bardak Hussein will ban importation of Iraqi pitas and General Tso's chicken into North Dakota! That will teach them to obey the Nobel Peace Prize wiener!
24. #22
Belinda ,   Texas, USA   (08.01.12)
Obama hasn't done anything of his own accord except treat Israeli leadership like crap! The only time Obama has done ANYTHING helpful at all is when he's put in a corner & will look like a total moron if he doesn't! The problem is that MOST people see his antics for what they are! I can't believe there are still people that can't see the forest for the trees!!
25. Getting the Jewish vote!!!!
M ,   USA   (08.01.12)
Obummer is chasing as much of the Jewish vote as he can get!
26. Bunker busters are the ONLY sanctions that will work.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.01.12)
