1. an army is made to WIN wars not to please feminists !
(08.02.12)
2. Female Combat Troops! Joke?!
andy ,   manchester,uk   (08.02.12)
I am not a sexist but females are emotionally fragile compared to men and have mood swings especially before a period. What happens if they are captured by the enemy and raped, sexually assaaulted etc. The IDF needs to abolish this politically correct bullshit.
3. Charedi Men IN - Women OUT!
Yosef ,   Israel   (08.02.12)
4. Lowering standards is not the way!!!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (08.02.12)
Women have no business being out on the frontlines during war. They can not carry the physical loads a man can--period! Now, don't get me wrong: women are the best thing God ever made...but, reality is reality...and truth is truth! If I'm wounded and taken back to the rear, the first thing I'd want to see is the angelic face of a female nurse; only then, does the world make sense! God bless, the women...who serve and play an integral role in the military. God bless, Israel; praying for the peace of Jerusalem! Christian Zionist
5. I don't care
Ethan ,   Eilat   (08.02.12)
I don't care if it's a he or a she as long as they can watch my back and charge forward with me. I would not want to serve with a short cut or a percent soldier. Many men are also not qualified and we frequently don't know that until time of need. but it is usually evident during training. It's nothing to be ashamed of, motivation is very important but winning in this case is everything.
6. Israel has forgotten the lesson learned in 1948 that women
Rivkah   (08.02.12)
in combat units means higher death rates for the men who compromise their missions to try to protect the women and also because the Islamic fight more fiercely against women in Israeli combat units because of the humiliation of being defeated in combat by females. Women do not belong in combat. There are many supportive positions they can do to free males for combat assignments. Those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it and for the IDF that means higher death rates in combat units with women in them.
7. 2 Andy, Manchester, UK: Jessica Lynch was captured in Iraq.
(08.02.12)
She was raped so many times in the anus, she had to have surgery to correct the damage done. Islamics like to sodomize little boys or girls in rape attacks. Since they like sodomy, a captured male would be raped, too. But women do not belong in combat although there are support positions in the IDF they can do to free males for combat units.
8. #2 emotionally stronger?
(08.02.12)
Actually research trough WW1 and 2 has proven that man might be physical stronger, but women are emotionally stronger. There are tiny weak men and tall strong women, and the other way around. If a woman can do the job, she should have equal chances as men do. That had nothing to do with feminism, but basic human rights where all are treated equal. Let a man be a nanny or a nurse if he wishes to and has the capabilities, and let a woman be an army commander if she has the capabilities. My daughter is in a combat officer course and it's disgusting to see how the men are treated better than the women (better rooms etc.). When the officers can sit on evenings in the officers mesh and study together, she needs to sit alone in her caravan, because she is a woman? Come on, what times are we living in? Men who can't serve with women should not enlist in mixed sexes units or courses but in men only (for religious reasons) courses. Instead those few religious men being singled out and set in seperate rooms, the women are sent outside?
9. #6 it is not 1948
sealift67 ,   northern calif   (08.02.12)
much has changed in 64 years. technology has taken on a much larger role, be it inside a tank with computer command and control, missile batteries, naval operations, iron dome and so on. combat is not for every female, nor every male for that matter, it is a matter of toughness, resilience, awareness and training. and as for rape, every soldier accepts the risks of capture and consequences, trauma is one of many costs of war. A galil rifle is quite and equalizer, it is not a surplus british enfield.
10. To All
Aharon ,   Holon, Israel   (08.02.12)
I'm all for everyone sharing an equal burden. However, you can't lower the bar just to have the opposite sex join in. That makes the military weaker. The standards should be higher across the board. And to those jackasses saying they are not sexist all the while making sexist comments, go F*ck yourselves. I sister has more courage and chutzpah than you all combined! Y'all should grow a pair!
11. what is wrong with all of you???
lihi ,   israel   (08.02.12)
i proudly served in the idf as a combat soldier and i can tell you that i sometimes had the balls to do things men couldn't! in the west bank! during hard situations involving terrorist acts/ leftist demonstrations... so SHUT UP! you have no idea what you're talking about. israelis are raised to fit is this particular field. more so than women in other countries which were not used to daily terror attacks.
12. #11 with all due respect
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (08.02.12)
You might be better than 99% of the men, but the fact that the IDF decided to lower standards to entice women to kravi says it all. If anything, the army needs fewer combat soldiers with harder training. As for women serving, what is wrong with border police, air-defense and drones?
13. #8 So you admit the average man is stronger....
andy ,   orlando, us   (08.03.12)
than the average woman. In hand to hand combat an average man would easily overpower an average woman. Also men don't have vaginas that can be raped by the enemy.
14. Women in combat units
Edouard ,   Montreal   (08.03.12)
Women are great combatants kol a kavod to all soldiers in combat units or not To be in a combat unit is not a mater of physical condition only far from it Women are very strong mentally And about the concern of being raped the man could be also raped So let women be in combat units
15. Women
Mike Keren ,   Parsippany NJ   (08.04.12)
I was in combat with women in 1973, they operated a mobile radar unit after retreating from the Golan. The were outstanding in their roles and and highly effective in suport of our night operations only meters from the front lines. If they want to serve let them, I would not want them in Infantry or Armor Units, but there is plenty to do in a Combat Division.
