1. He also named his first kid "Adolph"
k ,   US   (08.03.12)
I have my doubts about this William Patrick Hitler, after Hitler was declared the leader he went to Germany to try and benefit from him, then he came to US on questionable terms And why did he give his first child the middle name of "Adolph"? This was in 1949, so you cant say it was before his Uncle did what he did, most likely he wanted to pay a homage to his Uncle, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to infiltrate the US by pretending to be against the Nazis
2. Can the letter be untrue? A fake?
Robert Blum ,   New Albany USA   (08.03.12)
I find this letter from Patrick to be not totally believable. My reason is, (and I may be incorrect), Hitler's real name was Shickelgruber. He gave himself the name "Hitler", perhaps because it is not so long, easier to salute, and his new name is unique. Why then or rather how, can a nephew have adopted the same name as his uncle, whom he despised?
3. He looks like Robert Taylor

The Schickelgruber who changed his name to Hitler was Adolf's father not Adolf himself.
5. Hitler's nephew
Peter Kubicek ,   Forest Hills, NY   (08.03.12)
"Hitler" was an assumed name. He was born with the name Adolf Schickelgruber. So, why did the nephew adopt his uncle's notorious name? Had he kept his original name it would have been easier for him to join the U.S Army. This story just does not pass my smell test.
