2. Real answer is to retake Sinai forever.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.07.12)
Allowing Egyptian troops to mass in Sinai is plain lunatic. Israel was never really Israel's friend and now, with the fanatical Moslem Brotherhood taking over; things can only get worse. Like every single Israeli retreat, our retreat from Sinai is an unmitigated disaster. It is the root cause of virtually every problem is is now suffering involving the Sinai. The real answer is to retake Sinai forever. Admit the fact that fleeing Sinai was idiotic and reverse the disastrous policy of retreat permanently.
3. Total BS
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.07.12)
There is no limit to the number of police or even military police that Egypt can deploy into the Sinai. The prohibition is one combat troops, artillery, armor and combat aircraft. Egypt can easily put an end to ALL terrorism without another single soldier or piece of equipment. There are few roads that cross the Sinai - we know it. Putting checkpoints at the choke points like the passes would put an end to only 95% of the weapons being smuggled. They have allowed the smuggling because they support terrorism directed at us. They can put an end to it without doing a lot, but they choose to demand that we scrap the peace treaty and move thousands of troops and their equipment right to our border just like they had in 1967. This is an article by a totally ignorant person that has no clue as to what he whats to impose on the rest of us.
4. NO WAY, and Alawis are not a leading minority in Syria
Marco ,   Spain   (08.07.12)
They are an usurping minority in Syria. The author is wrong all around.
5. Take over half Sinai, establish Yamit
Mike ,   Tel Aviv   (08.07.12)
Recapture half of sinai an create buffer zone that would place the tiran strait wihin Israel's territory. Reestablish Yamit. Prior to all these , tbey should make declarations and proclamations that they will take Sinai as response to further terror and Egyptian hostility.
6. Ride Em Out of Town
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (08.08.12)
What we are witnessing in the Sinai, is a micro view of the Islamic fascists goal of subverting the world to their will, and reverting huge parts back to the 7th century. From Syria (Sunni uprising) to Egypt ( Muslim Bro), to Lebanon, Iraq and of course Iran (not to forget Turkey), that part of the planet is undergoing dramatic earthquakes. Ahmad said recently, we want a NWO, (New World Order). Sound familar? Israel is the only bright spot in the entire M.E., a transparent democracy, with freedoms Arab/Muslim could only dream about. (Witness Egypt). Pressuring Israel is part of the global game, a thorn n their side. During Nassers time, it was pan-Arabism..now it's global Jihad. Until the West wakes up from their denial as to what is going on...this will continue. It cost 70m lives, the rape of entire countries, and 1b maimed before the Reich was defeated. Germany had 68m people, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, have..well, you get the point. And Germany did not have atomic bombs. In the short run, the best remedy for the Sinai, Israeli borders..are for columns of Israel tanks to re-occupy vital parts..and stay there. w/o settlements. If the UN appoints another Goldstone to investigate..give him 24 hours to get out of town.
7. Naive Israelis are Aiding the Thugs
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (08.08.12)
This article is emblematic of the confused thinking on the part of some Israeli pundits..and their USA left-wing supporters (JSt among others). Getting Egypt to police the border with Gaza for years has been like pulling teeth. What makes the author, now that the Muslim Bros are in the parliament, think things will miraculously change, if more Arab troops are allowed, with tanks, etc? It's never been about sufficient troops at the border with Israel. Foolish and dangerous thinking on his part. Reminds me of the joke about the frog and the croc. Who is the bigger danger to Israel...the terrorist groups that are running amok, or a heavy Egyptian hand, with unlimited resources? And lets not forget Syrias United Arab Republic prior to 67 War. Both Assad and Mubarak were autocratic..but not totalitarian thugs. They kept the lid on..now it's off. I would not trust the Muslim Bro or Syrian Sunnis to stop hating Israel, their primary antagonist. The suggestion to cut the Strip into pieces, whether half or more..is the best alternative. Widen the buffer zone, and make it a no mans land. Nothing enters or leaves alive. (Israel has drones satellites, etc.to observe). The Koreans have done it since 1953. Like JSt, which advocates talks and diplomacy and major Israeli concessions for peace (with Iran, Hamas), both are absurd fantasies. And what if that APC succeeded and wiped out an Israeli fortification? Would Hamas/Hez still say it was a Mossad conspiracy? No, they would boast that Israel's weaknesses can be exploited. Believe me, they have an answer for every scenario....aided foolishly by naive Jews.
8. Mike No. 5, more than half Sinai is needed to be retaken
Marco ,   Spain   (08.07.12)
It will be very difficult to defend a border running through the Middle of Sinai that is 700 kms long and goes up and down over mountains and valleys. A much better idea is to take 95% of Sinai up to the passes close to the Canal where the line is 200 km long and with natural mountain obstacles.
9. Revise peace treaty?
Vince ,   Canada   (08.07.12)
Typical Israeli wishful thinking. A much bigger Egyptian army in the Sinai, coupled with some Israeli army.and they will cooperate to chase the common enemy.the Islamists. right? and they will sit together and drink coffee and reminisce about the good old days, and live in peace ever after! I hope your leaders are not as gullible as you and your friends reporters are. The common enemy of the Islamists (they are Egyptians now) and the other Islamists is ....you. Sorry.did I startled you up?
10. To Chaim, N 2
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (08.08.12)
Brother Chaim, excuse me again, but your proposal, in order to Israel retakes Sinai, can never be accepted, except if Egypt attacks, like She did in 1967. We, Democrats and Christians, love and admire your State and we do support her struggle for living in peace and security. But the treaties, and International Law as a whole, must be respected. Camp David's agreement rules Israel-Egypt relations. I am sure the Jewish State, under God's commandments and Zionist ideals, will not be the first to break up it.

Sorry buddy, but its time to put down the methamphetamine and check yourself into rehab. Your remarks are incoherent, and the drugs are making you paranoid and psycotic. I hope you feel better soon.
12. Marco #8 you do not know the terrain
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.08.12)
Protecting Sinai is easy if one controls the passes. After that it is a couple of patrols along the coasts and that is all that is required to control the Sinai. That is all Egypt has to do and hasn't done
13. It's in the cards!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (08.08.12)
Israel WILL, eventually, have to retake the Sinai and Gaza.
14. creativity needed; egypt army in sinai isn't answer
rick ,   walnut creek   (08.08.12)
of course, it is tempting to welcome the egyptian army into sinai. unfortunately, once theere, there is no obvious way to limit its activities. AND, ONCE THERE, IT WILL NOT BE EASY TO GET IT OUT. Israel wants good relations with egypt. however, in egypt, there are many who have forgotten the bitter taste of war and who want to assume a posture of belligerence against Israel. until effective guarantees of non-belligerence can be developed, the egyptian army must NOT be allowed into sinai. the treaty must be respected.
15. Re-ESTABLISH MASSIVE ISRAELI PRESENCE IN SINAI
Sergio HaDar Tezza   (08.08.12)
...there was no terror from there when we had the Sinai, we had strategic depth, airfields, oil independence and ten of thousands of tourists from all over the world with direct flights to Eilat from Norther Europe. Time to go back to Neviot, Ofira, etc.
16. persons like you
nobleeagle ,   Egypt   (08.08.12)
Is that your suggestions to solve the security problems .Since when was Sinai one of the israeli properties? instaed of saying that Egypt and Israel could simply sit on tables and reconsider the peace treaty to increase the number of security forces to keep Sinai safe even for tourism for all nationalities including israel. I wonder how persons like you are allowed to publish their opinions in respectable newspapers
17. There is no other solution
Moshe ,   Israel   (08.09.12)
In next war, Sinai must be liberated by us. All sudanis, and other "beduins" must be send to their home countries. When Abbas ordered the last attack on Egypt it was his problem with Egypt.
