2. MAYBE THEY ARENT ERRORS IS NO ONE ''NOTICED ERRORS'
...DACON9   (08.10.12)
MAYBE YOU ARE THE ERROR. Its wonderful that modern man discovers errors which the great rabbis of the past never noticed BUT this cohen guy 'discovered'.How many yeshivot and great gedolim study cohen? How many of cohens books were written and learned as mandatory. .Lets not jump to conclusion until after cohens works are accepted as authentic Torah Judaism commentary.1,500 inaccuracies...OF COURSE I AM A SKEPTIC
3. In reality the Bible is written version(s) of an oral tale.
For real.   (08.10.12)
After hundreds of years of oral tradition there must be hundreds of version. Goes to show that man has made changes thru out the years. Still no prove of a 1st temple or king david

JeanH ,   USA   (08.11.12)
Try reading Temeni Scrolls where there are no errors! They have the most correct Torah and practice!
5. Bible Code a fraud?
T. eccentricus ,   Tiarajú   (08.11.12)
If there is no single original and eternal version then the so-called Bible Code, with its hidden messages, is an imposture.
6. i agree with #3
jonah ,   jerusalem   (08.11.12)
you are all crazy. 30 years wasted for what to redo a book of stories that no one can verify as being true and that goes to all religions not just judaism. get rid of religion, work on humanity and world peace could be found.
7. this is supposed to be God's words
ziad ,   gaza   (08.11.12)
how come it needs correction if its coming from God and not Humans ?

Even if we do say that the Torah was given to man by God, we still have to remember that when people copied long books by hand there were bound to be errors in the transcription. Heck, if you look at the Lord of the Rings, Tolkein always remarked on the number of new errors he found after each check-through. It's not like we have 2.500 year old full copies lying around that are copied flawlessly by computers.
9. #3 - While this is true, it's not the issue.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.11.12)
The issue is getting the text as it is today more in sync with the older versions we have available. This is regardless of the truth behind the stories.

solomon ,   bklyn   (08.11.12)
Read about recent discoveries in Jerusalem. And if you will settle for nothing less than King David standing in front of you, there wasn’t any George Washington or Marco Polo either.

Part of it is indeed oral tradition for which we don't have historical or archaeological evidence. In fact, if we put the stories on a timeline then I'd say we first start having real evidence from Shlomo's successors on with the evidence for the validity of each story increasing until we get to Yehoash (or however you say his name in Hebrew) when the archaeological and historical records basically match. As for Shlomo himself and his father, we sadly don't have much of any evidence outside of the Torah. The closest thing for David is what's likely the "House of David" (royal house) in the Tel Dan Stele, but for Shlomo we've got zip. Of course, I haven't kept up with recent discoveries on this front in the last three months or so.
13. Uh, there is evidence...
ERSmith ,   Las Cruces, USA   (08.11.12)
There is evidence of the first temple and of David, #3. If you are going to argue, at least do your homework.
14. #6 - Please do research first and then post.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.11.12)
If my reply to solomon at #11 is posted, you'll see my brief summary of how the Bible and archaeology match up. I am actually somewhat qualified to speak on this stuff (I say somewhat, because I've merely a B.A., and not an M.A. or PhD yet.) To say the stories cannot be verified as true shows a gross lack of knowledge about the entire subject. Archaeology of the past few decades have found that there is in fact truth in the Bible. It's not 100% true of course, but one can't merely dismiss it as a simple storybook.
15. #13 - To my knowledge we don't have concrete evidence of
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.11.12)
either at the moment. David, we only have reference to his royal house and for the Temple, well the archaeology there is quite difficult thanks to the Wafq. There is currently a team carefully sifting through the debris piles of the last Wafq digging done under the Temple Mount.
16. 2 Dacon I agree with you.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.11.12)
I was amazed reading this article.
17. Nothing new to me. The entire religion is one huge error.

18. #16, but Ora, two texts of the same work said different
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.12.12)
things. Rabbis of the past would not have been responsible, but rather the sofrim that goofed up in their copying. The only way one would spot errors is if they compare different versions of the same text and then assume the older text is the correct one.
19. archeological evidence
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (08.12.12)
There is no archeological evidence to prove that the battle of Hastings (England 1066) ever took place. Lack of archeological evidence doesn't prove anything.
20. #19 - Hastings has multiple contemporary sources. attesting
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.12.12)
to its occurence. We also have buildings like the so-called Battle Abbey to attest to it most likely having happened. Add to that the political changee in England at the time and there's little doubt. Lack of archaeological evidence doesn't prove anythhing, true. It does not prove something didn't exist nor does it prove that something did. There probably will be proper evidence found for the Temple when there can finally be real excavations under the Temple Mount (maybe even Shlomo).
21. #17 michael - nothing new about your posts
solomon ,   bklyn   (08.12.12)
You have always demonstrated your blatant ignorance of Judaism (and Tanach as well). Mazel tov. You are blinded by your own belief which approaches prejudice as you refuse to open your eyes to what Judaism is really saying and what Israel is really doing (defending itself). The error is in your thinking, influenced by your closed eyes and ears. And you go by the adage; ‘open mouth, insert foot’. That’s the one thing you are good at.

Are you supposed to be an Israeli newspaper representing the majority of the Israeli sensibility which is Jewish. If so why are you referring to the bible as the "old testament"? . For Jews there is only one eternal covenant. I'm not sure why you would use the Christian reference.
