1. Eitan, how much are they paying you to write this stuff?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.12.12)
2. Eitan Haber: We Need Ben Gurion
Richard Chesnoff ,   New York, USA   (08.12.12)
Bravo, Eitan!
3. our leaders
sue ,   jerusalem   (08.12.12)
are NOT leaders. They lack vision. They only are interested in themselves/their cars/their salaries. The LAST thing that interests them is ISRAEL and its citizens. VERY sad but VERY true. They all have expensive apartments, vacation villas and i am sure property outside the country. (let's not discuss bank accounts)
4. Bibi should ask the advice of ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.12.12)
the Gadol Hador.
5. BEN- GURION
DA RAP ARTIST ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (08.12.12)
There is no guarantee that if Ben-Gurion were alive and the Prime Minister today ,that he would make the right decision .
6. None of the current decision makers except Barak saw war?
Vlad   (08.13.12)
* Benjamin Netanyahu was a Sayeret Matkal officer who took part in raids along the Suez Canal and led a raid deep inside Syrian territory. * Moshe Ya'alon fought in the Yom Kippur War as a reservist. * Yossi Peled fought as an officer in both the Six-Day War, Yom Kippur War, and First Lebanon War.
7. Where's Ben Gurion......
henry ,   Cavite, Philippines   (08.13.12)
I think the writer should just have kept quite having no knowledge - as he claimed - of the decision making process of Israel's leadership vis-a-vis Iran. The writer is completely unaware or has complete ignorance of the GOD factor in every facet of Israeli life. What has been written in prophecy must come to pass.
8. Call to the Messiah!
Rafael ,   New Zealand   (08.13.12)
All we need today is to pray for the coming of our Messiah! He is the one that will make the right historic decisions as it mention in our holy bible.
9. Decision making now and then.....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (08.13.12)
The article lacks objectivity and vision. It serves one purpose; belitlle Netanyahu. I'm not his fan but given the circumstances; Washington, China, Russia and the world's oil supply he is in a very difficult situation, he can't count on any country to support Israel, except the American Congress. israel exists in a hostile world, the american president is an underhanded muslim who wouldn't mind to do anything to stop Israel. In the Ben Gurion years the situation was exactly the opposite, the antisemitic world was lying low, not because of guilty feelings but because they were cowardly hiding their roles in the Holocaust. HaShem is on our side, let's pray for Israel!
10. Great, Great, Great Newspaper
Odessa ,   Arabian Peninsular   (08.13.12)
Trust me! This Newspaper is the best paper I haven't seen before. I am very interested in reading every report is loaded right here. Thanks to those who write at YNEWS & its readers. Wishing all the best!
11. Right decision
Alejandro ,   Argentina   (08.13.12)
Hey, Eitan, are you stupid, or something? This is the government with more experienced military in the wohe Israel history (see other talkbacks). What experience has Ben Gurion to take critical decisions? Nobody has experience to take critical decisions, until they take them.
12. Sorry Mr. Haber
benjamin   (08.13.12)
Mr. E.Haber, You wrote: "maybe we should exhume Ben-Gurion's body. Maybe Ben-Gurion, even in his silence, will save us." First: Ben-Gurion is all the time with us, with our Country, in our County and with us Jews, with his words, with his doing - in our thinking, in our hearts; Second: he was (as one point) that successful bec. of his WISDOM based on his courage, his knowledge and his completely will to protect us, the Jewish Nation, against all all cooking-up particulary interests of the big countries and other groups around in the post-WW II-time and pre- new-arranging-of-the-spheres-of-power/interests-time - And: third: he acted completely against the american and british interest(s) at that time- why: see above: the SAVETY and the LIFE of the Jewish Nation came FIRST (knowing, that spheres of interest, counties and leaders, even friends, and not-friends and (enemies) will change by the time - and he was right)!_____ Sorry Mr. Haber- you are living in the wrong country: THIS Rite (for Your words pl.see above) belongs to Osiris and Isis - the main Gods (plural..!) of the Pharaohs-Egypt... - for Your memory: Egypt, this was the country, where MOSES took us out - for having the chance to stay at Life - and to Live Free! - Not as Slaves ! and not to be wasted with THAT kind of living - BUT, and furthermore BUT: PRAISING the LIFE - INSTEAD the DEATH !!_____ Post script: the "Marmara" was the beginning for wanting us to fall in that Iranian/Shiits trap ! (a PROVOCATION you have to fight right directly, strict and consequently - a WAR (military) must be planned and prepared VERY,very well - but: a fight (or war) can be made in several ways (also WITHOUT milit. options!)- but better than Major General Eitan Ben-Eliyahu (and Nahum Barnea) can´t be told AND can´t be made!
13. You want to know Ben Gurion's opinion?
Ilan   (08.13.12)
You'll have to join him to ask him, so be careful what you wish for. BTW, the other option didn't work out so well for Shaul HaMelek.
14. More "chantarish" from Eitan Haber
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (08.13.12)
Ben Gurion, indeed? It is more a man like Menachgen Begin who so sorely needed today not BG. Even the decision to declare the State was only made because Begin made it clear tht if BG was not ready to do so, The Irgun was.. Did BG ever even deal with with a nuclear threat? No, of course not. Begin is the gold standard when it comes to these matters. (Can you say Osirak?) and the same with not worrying about America. They do not support us because we kiss their behinds.. They support us only because we are the only secular democratic state in the ME and have values almost identical to their own. Mr Haber stop quivering like a bowl of Jello. Both Bibi and Barak have had military experience and surround themselves with advisers who have had even more. I am fully confident that the decision they make will be the right one.
15. One morning
Rick ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.13.12)
One morning Mr. Harbor woke up with a catchy title for an article. He then went about trying to cronstruct an article around that title. Pathetic journalism. Israel will be ok. It has no other choice.
16. Better not to speak about him.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (08.13.12)
He has commited the greatest mistake in Israel's history. After the Independence War, which demanded the life of 10 000 young jews, ALLOWED FOR 100000 ARABS TO REMAIN IN THE YOUNG STATE. Now they are 16x more , with such persons like Zoabi and Tibi. To be hesitant and belated are the greatest mistakes in politics.
17. #14, Irgun's contribution in 1948 = nothing
Danny   (08.13.12)
18. It's a tribute to Jews' middle eastern mentality
Walt ,   U.S.A.   (08.13.12)
...that we write and say things like that - totally irresponsible! The PM Netanyahu knows very well that decisions have consequences and he knows that every battle is won before it's ever fought and I am (as should everyone be) thankful that he's not taking it lightly. It's his responsibility and his job to decide whether to order military intervention to thwart Iran’s nuclear drive.
19. #17 Do you even live here?
Shmuel ,   Haifa   (08.13.12)
To say that the Irgun had nothing to do with 1948 is to show vast ignorance of our history. Go back to school or refrain from commenting on things you know nothing about.
20. As foretold.
John Prophet   (08.13.12)
The world pivots around the next few weeks. Failure to stem the tide of radical fascists Islam will plunge the world into chaos for years to come. It is written!
21. I don't understand what his point is
Meir ,   Brooklyn   (08.13.12)
22. Israel needs a Zev Jabotinski clone
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.13.12)
What Israel really needs, at this fateful hour, is a Zev Jabotinski clone. Not a Ben Gurion. Jabotinski was both far sighted. (He warned Jews to flee Europe long before the Holocaust). Jabotinski was also a man of action. He would not endlessly discuss the genocidal Iranian threat. He'd quickly end it.
23. Funny but I remember Ben Gurion
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.13.12)
Even met him - he wasn't all that good either. We need somebody with a real spine - like Yitzhak Shamir not Ben Gurion. All that really needs to be said is no and back it up
24. to all
inconito   (08.13.12)
it is ridiculous to talk of eliminating Iran's program once for all even the American army would need to invade and occupy Iran to achieve this goal. the only idea that this program is indestrutible, even by Americans, should make prohibitive, any adventure in Iran. iran is going to have nuclear capability get it
25. reply to 23
J.Gad ,   Israel   (08.13.12)
B. Gurion was a genius, inventor. of the mossad, a prodigy, brilliant man! even though, it seems Eitan Haber believes that Israel needs a superheroe like "Iron Man" to strike Iran. shalom
26. What point is Eitan trying to make?
Avi ,   USA   (08.13.12)
Ben Gurion was a Human like all of us. His decision was great to establish the State but in 1967 he told Rabin to wait for American approval which never came. I have not heard any Israeli ex government person say we should not attack Iran as a last resort. The only few people that know if we have reached that point is the present government. So now that they are saying we're close to that point, everyone is getting wobbely. It's time to defend the survival of the Jewish people. I for one am not in favor of leaving our survival to Netanyahu and not to Obama.
27. What Israel need
Peter ,   London gb   (08.13.12)
Is an electoral reform: only the end of dictature of the small Partie wil save this country. But wichnpolitician will dare?
28. A nuance of nostalgie of old Labour party.
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.13.12)
Why you didn't suggest Mr. Peres for PM, after all he's discipulus of Ben-Gurion, and if you want the truth read biography of Abba Eban.
29. What to do ?Look in the Yellow Pages under "AYTZES"
Alan ,   SA   (08.14.12)
30. More meaningless waffle from Oslo Criminal, Haber
Eilon ,   Yerushalyim   (08.14.12)
When is the Potz gonna apologize for his Oslo Policies that resulted in 1500 dead israelis?
