1. Good Bye Egypt
Fad Egypt   (08.12.12)
El Sissy and Mekki are identified with the MB so the MB is controlling both the justice system , the media , the military , and also the vice president is a staunch MB supporter i forget to say something , thank you so much Obama for what you did in the country shalom
2. Obama's gift that keeps giving
Salim ,   Canada   (08.12.12)
Thanks to Obama and the brain-dead American Jews that still support him, for bringing on this disaster for Egypt and the State of Israel. Hopefully this coup by the Muslim Brotherhood will be a wake-up call, so they won't repeat their mistake by re-electing this dangerous, mysterious man.
3. Morsi goes Erdogan`s way
Nora Tel Aviv   (08.12.12)
The Turksh army was systematically decapitated and then subjugated to Erdogan`s islamist views. Morsi goes likewise, but faster and faster and faster. Egyptians should be aware that democratic voting was a way to end democracy by the Islamic brothers . Next elections? Forget it. Until then the Egyptian opposition will be elimiated just like its army`s opposition to islamism.

7. This developement reminds me strongly
Mira ,   Vienna   (08.12.12)
of Germany 1933 when a dictatorship was voted in democratically and immediately cancelled democracy. Bad news for Israel and bad news for Egypt!
8. @1, @2 Obama not responsible
abdullah ,   Jordan   (08.12.12)
There was nothing that could have stopped the events that have unfolded over last 2 years. It is against American interests that MB get power but the game was over. And U.S. knows its safer and in its interests not to stand in its way. Russia should have done the same with Syria, The U.S. will be treated alot better than Russia by arabs, in Post-Arab Spring Middle East. Also, all U.S. Presidents foreign policy is the Same, other than his speeches, it could might as well have been a republican in office.
9. #5 - You might be right
Salim ,   Canada   (08.12.12)
I doubt if he can retire all the soldiers in the Egyptian armed forces who are not Islamists. They will not want to see their country turned into a more backward feudal dictatorship. The truth about the "Arab Spring" is that Obama knew that this would be the outcome and it fits nicely in his plans to destroy Israel. Please throw out Obama in November to prevent him from taking similar steps as Morsi and Erdogan to consolidate his power.
10. Tantawi fired
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (08.12.12)
Excellent move by President Morsi! Under the table, Tantawi and his buddies were indecently friendly with the Zionist occupiers of Palestine. It is good to see patriotic sanity returning to Egypt and the traitorous policies of Sadat and Mubarak nullified. It brings total liberation of Palestine that much closer.

15. Replacing one dictatorship with a worse dictatorship
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.12.12)
Consider. SCAF - the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces - has been de-fanged. There is no Constitution. Parliament provides no check on Morsi's power. Even if reinstated, it's roughly 45% Muslim Brotherhood, 25% Salafists. Morsi has also replaced the editors of all state-owned newspapers, and charged one journalist with "insulting" the President. Arab Spring? What say you now, Tom Friedman? Time to admit you got it wrong - as usual.
16. Here we go
Bob ,   New York City, USA   (08.12.12)
Anyone without blinders knew that, sooner or later, the Muslim Brotherhood would seek to purge the military of its secular leadership and take total control. The only surprise is that it's happening so quickly. Morsi took advantage of the first oppotunity - the Salafist attack in the Sinai - to make his move. The question is, will the US recognize that this is an attempt by the anti-democratic Islamists to strengthen their grip on Egypt, or will it adopt a knee-jerk response that the "elected" leader can do whatever he wants, even if it solidifies his Islamic dictatorship.
17. Egypt's Morsi
Daniel J. ,   NY, US   (08.12.12)
I see where Egypt is heading and I'm sorry for the future of Israel and Egypt, which will be that of war and bloodshed. Morsi is putting too much under his power and by being from the Moslem Brotherhood, the future does not bode well. Of course, when the enemies of Israel see the US's taking a nonchalant attitude toward Israel, they push the envelope to see what they can do to throw the Jews out of their homeland. Obama will win reelection and then we'll see his true intentions in the next 4 years. The cost will be Israeli and Egyptian lives; very sad indeed. I hope I'm wrong and together with our Egyptian cousins we can celebrate peace.
18. for once I am on Morisies side
zionist forever   (08.12.12)
The military government was supposed to be a caretaker government until a civilian government could be elected. Morisi is taking powers that do belong in the hands of the elected government from the military which doesn't want to give up its power as is always the case.
19. Military vs Muslim Brotherhood
Brod ,   USA   (08.12.12)
The Military should fire the fanatical Islamist-Jihadists-Muslim Brotherhood. Don't wait for them to slaughter Egypt's Generals.
20. #8
JustMe ,   Israel   (08.12.12)
The US could have done several things to prevent what's going on today. First, Obama did not have to go to Egypt a few years ago and give a huge speech promoting Muslim identity over Arab nationalism. Second, the US did not have to throw Mubarak, a long standing ally under the bus right when the revolution began. They could have helped with an orderly transition period instead of demanding that he step down immediately. Last but not least, the administration could have demanded that the Muslim Brotherhood undergo major reforms before being allowed to participate in democratic elections , but no such demands were placed. (Bush made the same mistake in regards to letting Hamas run in Palestinian elections, which was a violation of the Oslo Accords, so in that aspect about Republicans, you are right.)
21. Abdullah #8
Salim ,   Canada   (08.12.12)
The US encouraged the "spring" and kept repeating that Mubarak must go. That might be in Obama's interests, but certainly not in the interests of the US, Israel and the western world. This is clearly obvious by the unfolding disturbing events in Egypt. Hopefully this Morsi character can be brought down one way or another. I can't think of any alternative that could be worse.
22. Egyptian tanks move to border

23. Thank you Obama and Hillary

Thank you, thank you and thanks many more times.
24. Cute Morsi is replacing the Mamluks guards
Iranian Hunter   (08.13.12)
One by one.... slowly but surely. Next step, Islam 24 hours 7 days a week in TV. Want to build new church, synagogue, buddhist temple, tao temple ? tough luck, you have better chance to watch pigs fly. And also, to anyone that said MB rises to power in middle east. You can be wrong. Notice that Turkey, Egypt, Libya, Syria (soon) are all ruled by Justice and Development party that has also roots in USA. Make no mistake, MB is a giant organization. Which is why China and Russia must kill them off in Syria. Literally keep sending Assad ammunition to KILL THEM OFF. The tides STOP in Syria. It is a very dangerous horde, it must be stopped.
25. Morsi fires Tantawi
henry ,   Cavite, Philippines   (08.13.12)
MB=The Beast with the seven heads and ten horns. Its only a matter of time when the world and Israel in particular will have to face the beast. Syria's Assad must fall so that the MB can take over. The world is made blind to this process in order for the beast to form its seven nations and attack Israel. Morsi is simply a facilitator. More evil minds are behind the MB.
26. #12. Father A: Worse than that
Tom W ,   USA   (08.13.12)
Most gentile Americans - not knowing the truth - think that these Obamabot, ultra leftist Jews represent Israel. They don't know the visceral hostility emanating from the American Jewish press regularly against Israel. Gentile Americans innocently equate the Obamao supporting Hollywood, ACLU, Soros ($$$$), N.Y. Times Jews with Israel that struggling amidst hostile Arabs. No wonder open antisemitism started to enter mainstream: the insidious corollary of the Obama-Jews actions.

28. Israel fears Arab Spring, wants Cold War Dictators back

29. #7-Hitler was appointed, not elected
Tim ,   Coventry UK   (08.13.12)
The Nazi party only won around 37% of the seats in the German parliment, the only reason Hitler became Chancellor was due to Hidenburg's stupid belief that he could easilly be minipulated. After Hidenburg died instead of holding presidential elections Hitler combined the role of President and Chancellor and declared himself Fuhrer.
30. News: Morsi now appoints Ismail Haniyeh as Defense Minister
Israeli Texan   (08.13.12)
