why is the government, rather than the free market, setting the price of goods like bread?? Are we still living in the 1950s? ALso, is it fair that cheap, white enriched bread, which is high in carbs, fats, and low in nutritional value, is fed to the so called poor, yet the wealthy eat whole wheat bread?! Remove VAT off food products! that will make food more affordable to everyone!

I too am amazed to read this one, especially having read earlier this morning about people thinking of leaving Israel. There's no VAT on food in the UK but prices are higher. Putting this to one side, the main cost for a family or individual is the cost of housing. Thanks to the cheap credit which caused the current financial crash, the cost of housing has risen dramatically all over the world - and I guess in Israel it is mutliplied by the number of empty second homes owned by non-residents.
